New Wisconsin school offers education steeped in Hmong language, culture

The Hmong American Immersion School officially opened its doors to students Tuesday. The public charter school is housed inside Johnston Elementary School and has students from 4K through fourth grade.

Jim Lovell was the first astronaut to travel to space four times and the leader of the harrowing Apollo 13 mission. He died earlier this month at the age of 97. The coauthor of the Apollo 13 recounting, “Lost Moon” explored Lovell’s legacy.

Student loan changes will be ‘barriers’ to lower income Wisconsin medical students

The ‘One Big Beautiful Bill Act’ made a variety of changes to the federal student loan system. Two changes — the elimination of the Grad PLUS loan program and a lifetime loan cap of $200,000 — leaves medical students well short of the estimated cost of medical school in Wisconsin.
