New Shawano recreation center expands fitness, technology and community space in central Wisconsin

The nearly $6 million renovation modernizes a facility that city officials say had become outdated and difficult for some residents to use. Along with the existing swimming pool, the center will include a new exercise room, classrooms, private work areas and spaces equipped for virtual meetings and telehealth appointments.

Wisconsin STEM shuttle program marks 20 years of taking science on the road

The STEM Shuttle, created by retired Wausau teacher Sharon Ryan, is marking its 20th year traveling to schools across Wisconsin. The program grew out of Dream Flight Wausau, a 1990 project Ryan developed while teaching at John Marshall Elementary School in the Wausau School District.

South Beach Up North marks 20 summers of chamber music in north central Wisconsin

This year’s musicians include Michael Andrews on cello, Anna Cromwell on violin and viola, Rochelle Pearson on violin and Angela Kratchmer on viola. Pianist Rie Tanaka will join the ensemble for the festival’s second week.
