Chinese Brands Bring Not One, Not Two, But Three Bugatti-Style Super Sedans To CES

Few would expect a vacuum cleaner company to roll up to CES with supercars, but that’s exactly what Dreame just did. Chinese tech firm Dreame, best known for producing competitively priced vacuum cleaners, has unveiled three dramatic high-performance cars at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, introduced under the newly formed Kosmera and Nebula Next brands.

As early teasers hinted, Dreame has looked to Bugatti for stylistic inspiration. Even so, while initial renders leaned heavily into Chiron-like mimicry, the finished models veer in their own direction, avoiding full-blown imitation but still bearing more than a few familiar cues.

What many might not know is that Dreame sits within Xiaomi’s sprawling ecological chain. The tech giant has invested in the company and may be lending more than just capital. Xiaomi itself has already become a serious contender in China’s burgeoning EV market, though it remains unclear if Dreame’s pivot is directly tied to Xiaomi’s automotive push.

Bugatti Echoes, Not Clones

The first model under the Kosmera name is described as a super sports car and comes dressed in black. Its four-door configuration immediately sets it apart, but the front end is where things get especially familiar. The grille, framed in carbon fiber, strongly resembles the Bugatti Mistral and Brouillard. Large air intakes flank the front, and the overall fascia feels unmistakably French in its inspiration.

Headlight and DRL placement continue the Bugatti homage, as does the sculpted hood with prominent air extraction vents, a detail nearly identical to the one-off Brouillard.

The side profile, however, strikes a different chord. With smooth surfaces and a gradually sloping roofline, it brings to mind a lengthened Porsche Taycan more than anything from Molsheim. Around back, the car adds its own flair with a full-width LED light bar, a fixed rear wing, and a vertical brake light extending down the rear window.

According to Autohome, this Kosmera sedan houses four electric motors, combining for a total of 1,903 horsepower. Intriguingly, the car reportedly weighs exactly 1,903 kilograms (4,195 pounds), creating a symmetrical 1:1 power-to-weight ratio that sounds almost too perfect to be real.

While most technical details remain under wraps, the car is said to incorporate a complex suspension setup and a number of 3D-printed components.

A Second Concept

Kosmera’s second offering looks quite different. It’s also a sedan, finished in a dark purple paint, but the design is less dramatic. While the front doesn’t look like a Bugatti, the same can’t be said about the rear, as it bears a resemblance to the Chiron, including its taillights, the shape of the fascia and decklid, and the split rear window. As for specs, Dreame hasn’t released anything about this model’s capabilities just yet.

Rounding out the trio is the Nebula Next 01, the only car not wearing a Kosmera badge. This is the model Dreame teased earlier. Painted green, it has the most supercar-like design of the trio, but surprisingly, it is also a four-door. It rocks loads of exposed carbon fiber parts, including the front splitter and rear diffuser, and also has similar Bugatti-inspired headlights to the first of the Kosmera cars.

Local media claims the Nebula Next 01 is powered by the same four-motor setup with 1,903 horsepower. If accurate, it should rocket from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 1.8 seconds. As of now, Dreame hasn’t confirmed whether and when this concept will reach production.

The journey begins at Rimac’s sprawling campus in Zagreb, where each of the ten owners will be welcomed by Founder and CEO Mate Rimac, alongside Design Director Frank Heyl.

Together, they’ll guide customers through a tailored configuration of their Founder’s Edition, using real-time visualization tools to tweak colors, materials, and finishes with an unusual level of control.

On the outside, the special edition wears a two-tone livery accented by ultra-slim stripes along the hood, roof, and rear wing, each featuring circuit board graphics. There’s also a Founder’s Edition emblem stamped with Mate Rimac’s initials on the front fenders, while hand-painted details are open to the owner’s preference.

Inside, the asymmetrical seat treatment nods to Mate Rimac’s personal Nevera. The upholstery is hand-stitched, and nearly every surface can be customized. There’s embroidery on the doors highlighting dates significant to Rimac’s history, MR initials on the headrests, and the Founder’s Edition badge placed between the seats.

Performance-wise, the Founder’s Edition doesn’t tweak the Nevera R’s already staggering numbers. It still features four electric motors that deliver a combined 2,107 horsepower.

Earlier this year, the Nevera R shattered records, sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 1.72 seconds and hitting a top speed of 268.2 mph (431.45 km/h). That figure was eventually eclipsed by the BYD YangWang U9’s claimed 308.33 mph (496.22 km/h), though not in an officially recognized setting.

But more than the hardware, what sets the Founder’s Edition apart are the long-term privileges it unlocks. Rimac describes the offering like this:

“For the duration of their ownership, the ten Founder’s Club members will have priority invitations to product previews, a company card allowing direct access to Bugatti Rimac HQ, invitations to performance showcases and record-breaking runs, involvement in strategy discussions with Mate and the team, and input into the research and development that will create the groundbreaking cars of the future.

This small global group of individuals also receive other exclusive benefits and invitations as a part of their membership, with exact details known only to the Founders.”

So yes, it’s a car, but it’s also an entry point into the inner workings of a tech-forward automotive company, complete with driving instruction from Rimac’s professional testers, to help owners actually handle the car’s potential. And once each vehicle is completed, Mate Rimac himself will personally hand over the keys.

Rimac hasn’t released official pricing for the Founder’s Edition, though the standard Nevera R starts at €2.3 million ($2.7 million) before taxes. It’s safe to assume the new version will edge comfortably beyond that figure.

Mate Rimac thanked customers, adding, “Without them, everything we have built wouldn’t have been possible. I wanted to find a way to thank the visionary individuals who helped shape this path – and to invite ten of them to experience our world in a completely new way.”

After plenty of waiting, the new Toyota GR GT is here, and so is the return of the Lexus LFA. These two new Japanese supercars might not have shown up in all the ways we expected but one thing is clear: while they’re linked, they’ll have very different personalities from behind the wheel.

Now, a new in-depth video shows us just how Toyota and Lexus made each of their respective cars stand out from the other.

Many might consider the GR GT to be a more faithful successor to the LFA. That’s due heavily to its hybrid V8 engine that makes some 641 horsepower (477 kW). That said, it’s clear that Toyota wasn’t trying to steal the LFA’s thunder when you take a quick look at the finer details.

That’s exactly what Top Gear just offered, with a detailed breakdown of both cars from nose to tail. The GR GT, in particular, leans hard into its driver-first philosophy. Its design is dominated by functional aero, from oversized intercooler openings to a rally-style hood vent that channels air up and over the windshield.

Much like the AMG GT or if we go further back in time, the Dodge Viper SRT and its derivatives, the GR GT has a lengthy hood, a small but highly functional cabin, and a squat, wide stance.

Presenter Tom Ford highlights how the driving position communicates intention. The seat height, digital gauge cluster, and steering wheel are all set up for optimal visibility. That’s key because the car has shift lights and vital information there.

The car only has four drive modes, custom, normal, sport, and track. The center control stack features physical buttons and switches. The cupholders are behind the occupants and in the middle because they’re not the focus here.

Of course, the track-only FIA-compliant GT3 race car version is even more extreme. It gets every bit of roll cage one might expect and then some. The cabin features almost zero creature comforts but what it lacks there it makes up for in naked carbon and switchgear. The spoiler at the rear is as wide as the car itself.

Then, there’s the LFA, and when we say it’s different, it’s not just because the V10 is gone in favor of all-electric propulsion. Ford points out that Lexus took full advantage of the EV powerplant, going as far as to design the exterior with it in mind. As such, the LFA gets almost none of the same venting and aero from the GR GT. It simply doesn’t need it.

The lines are more elegant. Take, for example, the hood where long strakes run from the top of the lights to the windshield. Instead of hard edges everywhere, the design is smoother with more compound curves.

That approach carries into the interior, which leans heavily on refinement. The split-cabin layout gives the driver their own space, while the controls are smaller and more delicate, matching the car’s calmer energy.

In short, these two sport models might have a lot of shared DNA, but there’s no doubt that they’ll drive quite differently. In fact, there’s little question that they’ll feel different for occupants even when they’re powered down.

Now Helix is working with Californian startup Astro Mechanica on an engine concept that claims it can make supersonic passenger air travel viable again.

What’s The Idea?

Astro Mechanica is chasing what the late, great Concorde never could. It wants long-range supersonic aircraft that are efficient enough for everyday use.

To make that possible, the company has built a propulsion system called Duality. It is an adaptive hybrid electric setup that uses both a gas turbine and electric drive to shift personalities depending on speed.

At takeoff, it behaves like a turbofan. At lower supersonic speeds, it behaves like a turbojet. When things get seriously quick, it transforms into something closer to a ramjet.

That flexibility is meant to solve the problem that killed commercial supersonic air travel in the first place. The engines were great at going very fast but not great at everything else, and gobbled up a ton of fuel.

Power Behind The Concept

The current fourth-generation Duality prototype uses four Helix SPX242-94 electric motors. Each produces up to 536 hp (544 PS / 400 kW) of peak power. They drive the two-stage compressor of the propulsor unit and can run continuously at 402 hp (408 PS / 300 kilowatts).

But custom-designed radial flux motors for the fifth generation of Astro Mechanica’s propulsion system are also in development, these ones pumping out up to 1,274 hp (1,292 PS / 950 kW) of peak muscle for extreme-altitude flying.

The company is targeting a first flight in three years and commercial operations within a decade. If it takes until 2035 and Astro Mechanica is the first to offer supersonic air travel, we’ll have waited 32 years since Concorde was retired to see a passenger airplane break the sound barrier.
