Audi Will Preview A New Sports Coupe This Fall And It Could Be A Porsche In Disguise

  • Audi is gearing up to introduce an electrifying new concept this fall.
  • It’s being billed as a TT Moment 2.0, although the model won’t be a new TT.
  • Instead, the car will be larger and likely based on the Porsche 718 Electric.

The Audi TT went out of production in 2023 and we’ve heard countless rumors about its return. Spy photographers have even snapped a possible mule based on the upcoming Porsche 718 Electric.

While the model was believed to be a ways off, Audi CEO Gernot Döllner recently revealed a new car is coming and it will be their TT Moment 2.0. Speaking to Bild, Döllner said the electric concept will debut this fall and that likely means an unveiling during the Munich Motor Show.

Little is known about the “identity builder,” but an image of the car suggests it will be larger than the TT. In fact, it looks more like a shrunken down version of the A5 Coupe/Convertible. This kind of makes sense as Motor1 noted Döllner said it would be “something in between” a TT and R8.

That certainly sounds like a new model based on the Porsche 718 Electric and the car is slated to go into production in the next two years. If everything turns out as expected, the TT successor could be considerably sportier and offered with an available dual-motor all-wheel drive system.

Details are hazy, but the 718 Electric has been plagued by problems and reports have suggested the car has been pushed back to 2027 due to battery issues. That could be a big problem as Porsche has already confirmed the current 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman will go out of production this October.

Cupra’s Latest Concept Is Ribbed For Your Pleasure

  • Cupra has teased a new concept, ahead of its debut at IAA Mobility 2025.
  • The mysterious model will preview the brand’s new design language.
  • The company will also show a camouflaged Raval as well as new special editions.

The Munich Motor Show is less than two months away and Cupra is looking to make a splash. As part of this effort, they’ll introduce a camouflaged Raval on September 7th and an all-new concept on September 8th.

Cupra isn’t saying much, but revealed the mysterious concept embodies their “brand vision and future design language.” The company went on to say it’s the “perfect symbiosis between human and machine, where the driving experience and emotions reach their fullest expression.”

Marketing hyperbole aside, the teaser video shows a futuristic center console with a flowing metal band, minimalist switchgear, and an illuminated diamond-like element. We can also get a glimpse of diamond-shaped ribbed accents and a triangle made out of either crystal or glass.

The Raval, on the other hand, will be a series production model shown in disguise. Spy photographers snapped the electric hatchback last month and it’s a sister model to the Volkswagen ID.2. It’s slated to ride on the new MEB Entry platform and Volkswagen has hinted at a version with 223 hp (166 kW / 226 PS) and up to 280 miles (450 km) of range. Since the ID.2 is slated to spawn GTI and R variants, we can likely expect hotter Ravals as well.

The Raval will go into production next year at the Martorell assembly plant. That’s a slight delay as the model was originally slated to arrive in 2025.

Last but not least, Cupra announced plans to introduce Tribe Editions of the Formentor, Terramar, and Leon / Leon Sportstourer. The special editions are being billed as ideal for customers “looking for uniqueness and differentiation with a contemporary, sustainable twist.”

Hyundai’s Next EV Could Shake Up The Small Electric SUV Segment

  • Hyundai plans a new electric SUV to slot between the Inster and Kona models.
  • It will be previewed by a concept model at this year’s Munich Auto Show.
  • The new EV will be the first to feature the Pleos Connect infotainment system.

In just a few years, Hyundai has built an impressive lineup of electric vehicles that rivals, and in some cases surpasses, what many long-established automakers have brought to market. With options ranging from the retro-styled Ioniq 5 to the spacious new seven-seat Ioniq 9 and the compact Niro EV, Hyundai is covering a lot of ground. And the brand isn’t slowing down, as another electric model is on the way.

Read: New Hyundai Inster Is A Tiny Electric Crossover For The Masses

This upcoming addition will slot in above Hyundai’s Inster, the battery-powered version of the compact Casper. While the Inster’s charm lies in its tiny footprint, it may be a bit too small for some buyers. That’s where this new model fits in.

A new report points to a debut in concept form at the Munich Motor Show this September. The vehicle is expected to land between the Inster and the Kona in terms of size, aligning closely with the Bayon, which is currently offered in European markets.

Few details are known about the new model at this stage. However, Auto News speculates that it could be dubbed the Ioniq 2 if it is to use the automaker’s well-established E-GMP platform. Styling remains a mystery, but regardless of what the concept looks like, recent Hyundai history suggests that the eventual production model should resemble it closely.

New Tesla-Like Infotainment System

Hyundai’s new Pleos infotainment system.

One of the more significant updates is expected inside the cabin. This SUV is likely to be the first Hyundai equipped with the new Pleos Connect infotainment system. Unveiled earlier this year, Pleos Connect is based on Android Automotive and features a large, freestanding touchscreen mounted at the center of the dashboard. It’s a layout that recalls Tesla’s approach and echoes what’s becoming common in many Chinese EVs.

This new setup could prove controversial. Most current Hyundais feature sleek digital instrument clusters and infotainment systems, sometimes housed within a single curved display. While tablet-like displays often have great functionality, they’re not particularly appealing to the eye.

Shared Roots with Kia

0Underneath, the new model is expected to share much of its architecture with the forthcoming Kia EV2. That vehicle will ride on a shortened version of the E-GMP platform and be offered with a single electric motor. If Hyundai follows a similar path, it could help keep costs manageable while still delivering competitive performance in the growing sub-compact and compact EV segments.

Skoda’s Electric Wagon Prepares To Shake Up SUV-Obsessed Market

  • Skoda will unveil a new wagon concept with a fully electric powertrain this September.
  • It will serve as a preview for an Octavia Combi EV, which is expected later in the decade.
  • The production model will reportedly ride on VW Group’s upcoming SSP architecture.

Wagons may no longer be the default choice for families, but they’re far from forgotten. Skoda remains one of the few manufacturers still committed to the practical, low-slung appeal of the estate format, and it’s about to offer a glimpse of what’s next. At this September’s Munich Auto Show, the company will unveil an electric concept version of the next-gen Octavia Combi.

The upcoming EV was first previewed in 2023 as a “spacious” electric estate, targeting families and business users. It’s expected to measure around 4.7 meters (185 inches) in length. At the time, Skoda also released renderings of a sculpture, hinting at the styling, featuring sharp lines, large wheels, and a sporty wagon silhouette.

Originally scheduled for release in 2026, the new Combi’s launch has been pushed closer to the end of the decade. According to a report from Autocar, the electric wagon will be based on Volkswagen Group’s SSP architecture, the same platform that will underpin the next-generation Volkswagen Golf.

Despite the focus on electrification, the new model won’t directly replace the current Octavia. Skoda plans to continue offering its internal combustion engine lineup, with gasoline, diesel, mild-hybrid, and plug-in hybrid options for those not yet ready to switch to fully electric driving.

Strong Wagon Sales Keep ICE Alive

According to Auto News, the Octavia Combi remains Skoda’s best-selling model in Europe in 2025, even outperforming its hatchback counterpart. From January through May, the wagon version sold 81,353 units, despite a 21 percent drop compared to the same period last year.

The fourth generation of the Octavia was introduced in 2019 and received a mid-lifecycle update in 2024. Skoda will soon add a plug-in hybrid version to the facelifted lineup, giving more options to buyers. Given its continued popularity, it’s likely that the MQB-based Octavia will receive a second facelift before the end of the decade, keeping it in production well past 2030.

Skoda Sells More EVs In Europe Than Tesla

May proved to be a standout month for electric Skodas across Europe. The automaker delivered 14,290 electric vehicles, marking a 181 percent year-over-year increase. This was enough to surpass Tesla, placing Skoda second only to Volkswagen in EV sales for the month. Much of this growth is credited to the addition of the Elroq SUV, which joined the Enyaq and Enyaq Coupe in the brand’s electric lineup.

Looking forward, Skoda has several more EVs in the pipeline. In 2026, the company plans to introduce the Epiq, a compact electric SUV built on the same platform as the VW ID.2 and Cupra Raval. Targeting a starting price of €25,000, the Epiq will serve as an EV alternative to the Fabia, Scala, and Kamiq models, which will remain available with combustion engines for the foreseeable future.

Also expected in 2026 is the production version of the Vision 7S concept, a larger electric SUV positioned above the Elroq and Enyaq. Once launched, it will sit alongside the ICE-powered Kodiaq in Skoda’s SUV portfolio.

Bring On The Buttons! Facelifted VW EVs To Have Physical Switchgear

  • Volkswagen is reportedly gearing up to introduce the facelifted ID.3 and ID.4 next year.
  • The models are slated to have ID.2-inspired styling and an updated interior.
  • Powertrain updates are also expected, so look forward to more power and efficiency.

Volkswagen of America recently announced the 2026 ID.4 would benefit from a “mid-model-year change” that would see the electric crossover “receive additional features.” While that was a pretty cryptic hint about an update, we’re starting to learn more about the upcoming model.

Speaking to Autocar, Volkswagen’s board member for technical development indicated the ID.3 and ID.4 will get a facelift that brings them more in line with the ID.2. As part of the makeover, Kai Grünitz suggested we can expect a “lower and squatter stance.”

The styling updates are said to continue inside, where we can expect an all-new interior. Details are hazy at the moment, but the publication said there will be a new dashboard and user interface.

Volkswagen is also slated to bring back physical switchgear including a round volume knob. As one insider noted, “If you develop something that works, and it has worked for years, there’s no reason to replace it.”

Powertrain details remain elusive, but electric vehicle technology has been advancing so it’s probably safe to assume there will be some updates. This could include more powerful and efficient motors as well as updated battery packs.

The facelifted ID.3 will reportedly debut in the second quarter of 2026, while the ID.4 will follow later that year. The publication also says the company is planning to introduce a Jeep Avenger rival, known as the ID.2X, at the upcoming Munich Motor Show.

BMW’s New Electric SUV Goes 400 Miles And Knows What You’ll Do Before You Do

  • BMW has revealed the new iX3 will debut at the Munich Motor Show in September.
  • EPA range expected to reach 400 miles thanks to high-density cylindrical battery cells.
  • New Motorway & City Assistant system can brake for red lights and resume when green.

BMW has released new details about the redesigned iX3, ahead of its debut at the Munich Motor Show this fall. Set to become the first Neue Klasse vehicle, the crossover promises to be a major leap forward.

That isn’t just hype as BMW confirmed the model will use new cylindrical battery cells that have a 20% higher energy density than the prismatic cells being used today. Thanks to this change, the iX3 50 xDrive is slated to have an EPA range of up to 400 miles (800 km WLTP / 900 km CLTC).

That’s a truly impressive number, but it’s just the tip of the iceberg as the model also has a 400 kW DC fast charging capability. This will enable the crossover to get more than 217 miles (350 km) of range in as little as 10 minutes.

Faster and Smarter Charging

Speaking of charging, the iX3 has an “intelligent charging flap” that automatically opens thanks to the use of artificial intelligence. As the automaker explained, when the driver approaches a familiar or learned charging point, the flap automatically opens when it arrives to make the recharging process a little faster and convenient.

Customers will also find bidirectional charging capabilities including Vehicle-to-Load, Vehicle-to-Home, and Vehicle-to-Grid. The latter functions are enabled by a new 19.2 kW Wallbox and they enable the crossover to act as an emergency power source.

Panoramic iDrive And New Driver Assist Technology

While most of the cabin is covered by cloth camouflage, the iX3 features a Panoramic iDrive system that consists of a pillar-to-pillar display as well as a large center-mounted screen running BMW Operating System X.

They’re joined by a funky, “shy-tech” steering wheel that has buttons that illuminate when various functions are available. They’re joined by slender air vents, door-mounted seat controls, and an optional 3D head-up display.

On the topic of technology, BMW confirmed the iX3 will have next-generation driver assistance systems that use AI. The crossover also has processing speeds that are 20 times faster than the previous system.

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

The automaker was hazy on specifics, but mentioned hands-free highway driving as well as an automatic lane change function. They’ll be joined by a new Motorway & City Assistant system, which “helps the driver in complex driving situations in urban areas.” It can reportedly handle tight corners and roundabouts as well as automatically brake for red lights, before resuming when they turn green.

There’s even cooperative steering and braking, which will allow drivers to turn the steering wheel or apply brakes “just a little.” Doing so will adjust the response of the automated driving system without shutting it off.

We can also expect an advanced parking system that offers an “AI-based selection of parking assistance services, parking space recognition, maneuver planning, and an improved parking experience.”

Production of the iX3 will begin late this year and deliveries will, presumably, begin shortly thereafter.
