Mugen Turns Honda’s Tiny EV Into A Pocket-Sized Street Fighter

A new spark is coming to city streets, and it’s wearing a feisty grin. The Honda N-One e:, a fully electric kei car set to launch in Japan and Europe, already has a distinctive, slightly mischievous look. Now Mugen has stepped in with a fresh body kit and a collection of accessories to give it even more personality.

The exterior upgrades include a front splitter, side skirts, and a compact rear diffuser, all finished in matte black. A matching spoiler and 15-inch alloy wheels complete the package, giving the petite EV the stance of a scaled-down hot hatch.

Mugen hasn’t stopped at just aerodynamics. Special decals featuring the Mugen name can be applied to the front bumper, grille, side panels, and rear bumper. An additional badge on the front fenders makes sure the car’s tuning pedigree is unmistakable.

Inside, the Mugen touch continues with branded scuff plates and door cubbies. The accessory list extends to tailored floor mats and a matching cover for the boot floor. Practical touches include window visors and hydrophilic mirror coatings designed to improve wet-weather visibility.

Subtle Performance Tweaks

Mugen’s version of the Honda N-One e: retains the stock electric motor, delivering 63 hp (64 PS / 47 kW) in line with kei car regulations. Performance dampers, paired with the larger alloy wheels, promise more responsive handling.

The only limitation for spirited drives on Japan’s winding roads is the range, estimated at over 245 km (145 miles) between charges.

The new accessories for the Honda N-One e: will be available in Japan starting autumn 2025, with pricing set to be announced closer to their market launch.

The EV is expected to make its European debut at the IAA Show in Munich this September. It will be interesting to see whether the Mugen parts will also be made available in the Old Continent.

Ford’s Clever Camper Pickup Idea Could Change How You Sleep Outdoors

A new chapter in Ford’s electric vehicle plans will arrive in 2027 with an affordable midsize pickup starting at around $30,000, kicking off an entire lineup of budget EVs. While the automaker has only revealed a simplified silhouette of the upcoming model, recent patent drawings may offer an early glimpse at one of its optional accessories.

The design seen in the patents outlines a rooftop tent that deploys over the truck and stores neatly in a retractable module above the rear bed.

Filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office in February 2024 and published last week, the patent carries the title “Shelter System Having Deployable Platform.” Whether it becomes a production reality is still uncertain, but the concept alone has strong appeal.

If it makes it into production, the tent would be a great option for camper conversions on future Ford pickups like the upcoming EV or the next-generation Maverick, Ranger, and F-150 models.

Room to stretch

When fully deployed, the tent gives a similar profile outline to the truck as the Tesla Cybertruck. The extended platform offers enough room to sleep two adults. Furthermore, the rear section has more than enough headroom for people to comfortably stand while being protected from the elements. Entry is through a rear doorway, and two windows bring in light and ventilation.

When folded, the tent looks like a sleek canopy mounted above the rear bed. Interestingly, it doesn’t occupy the space below the bed cover, meaning that it is still available.

The benefits of this design over a traditional rooftop tent are its seamless integration with the vehicle. Rather than increasing drag, the rear module could actually improve the truck’s aerodynamics, boosting efficiency and extending driving range. This advantage is particularly important for hybrid and fully electric models, where both weight and aerodynamics play a bigger role in performance.

A glimpse at Ford’s future truck?

Another detail worth noting from the patent is the design of the truck itself. It’s unclear whether this represents an actual upcoming model or simply a mockup created for the filing. Even so, elements such as the vertically stacked headlights and the smooth, streamlined roofline look entirely plausible for a future electric Ford pickup.

Even if opinions on Tesla and its billionaire CEO are sharply divided, there’s little debate over the company’s track record in building some of the most capable electric vehicles on the road.

Alongside the cars themselves, Tesla also maintains a wide catalog of accessories, many of which are affordable, easy to install, and ship directly to buyers. The newest addition to that lineup may not be a technological leap, but it’s likely to catch on with owners.

Tesla’s online shop was recently updated to include a front lighting system designed for the front of both the Model 3 and Model Y. Given how handy the front storage compartment of the two best-selling Tesla models is, it’s perhaps somewhat of a surprise they don’t usually feature any kind of lighting system. Come to think of it, many EVs with storage frunks don’t include a light, so Tesla’s solution is a good one.

The kit, costing $100 in the US or CA$130 in Canada, includes a thin lighting strip that runs along the underside of the frunk’s rubber seal. Also included in the kit is a small power module that sticks to an area near the frunk’s emergency release switch connector. It then plugs straight in. The light strip is held in place by tape and includes IP67 dustproof and waterproof ratings.

Compatibility Limits

Importantly, the lighting kit is only available for 2020-2024 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles, meaning the newer ‘Highland’ Model 3 and ‘Juniper’ Model Y are not suitable for this kit. However, Not a Tesla App reports that a similar kit is being developed for these models.

As mentioned, there are dozens of other accessories offered for all Tesla vehicles, including the slower-selling Model S, Model X, and Cybertruck. Among the most popular are roof racks, all-weather floor liners, sunshades for Tesla’s panoramic glass roofs, and new storage cubby trays.

One Cheap Adapter Unlocks A Huge Perk For Acura And Honda EV Owners

  • A new adapter allows Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX to access Tesla Superchargers.

Honda and Acura electric vehicle drivers now have a significantly broader charging network at their disposal. The Prologue and ZDX crossovers can officially plug into Tesla’s Supercharger network across North America, thanks to a newly approved adapter.

Both models continue to use the CCS (Combined Charging System) port but are now compatible with Tesla’s NACS (North American Charging Standard) through this accessory, which is available for $225.

The company says that the approved adapter has been “tested for performance and compatibility” with the Prologue and ZDX, ensuring a “reliable charging experience”. While aftermarket solutions are available, Honda says that “damage caused to a vehicle resulting from the use of an unapproved adapter may not be covered under vehicles’ limited warranties”.

The official NACS adapter is currently on sale through authorized Honda and Acura dealerships, as well as via the Honda DreamShop website, all priced at $225.

Initially, Honda and Acura EV owners will have to log into the Tesla app to use a Tesla Supercharger, but the automaker has promised future integration with the HondaLink and Acura EV applications. Furthermore, the standard Google built-in Maps on the infotainment allows owners to locate Tesla Superchargers.

As of June 2025, the company has sold 49,334 units of the Honda Prologue and 17,726 units of the Acura ZDX in the US market, meaning that the news affects a pool of 67,060 EV owners. Both electric crossovers were developed in collaboration with GM.

The first Honda models equipped with a North American Charging Standard (NCAS) port will be the production versions of the 0 Series sedan and SUV, scheduled to reach dealers in 2026.

The deal between Honda and Tesla was first announced in 2023, following a similar move by several other automakers. The Tesla Supercharger network now includes more than 23,500 locations across the United States. By 2030, Honda and Acura EV owners are expected to have access to roughly 100,000 DC fast chargers throughout North America, spanning multiple charging networks.
