Mercedes-AMG C-Class Electric Will Bring The Fight To The BMW M3 EV

  • The Mercedes-AMG C-Class Electric is inching closer to production.
  • Features a familiar design, but beefier brakes and an active spoiler.
  • Sedan could have a tri-motor powertrain with around 789 hp.

Mercedes unveiled the C-Class Electric in April, so attention is now turning to the AMG variant. A prototype was recently spied undergoing testing in the Alps and it should be far more attractive than the latest GT 4-Door.

While the prototype is heavily camouflaged, it closely resembles the standard model. However, we can expect a fully enclosed version of the company’s Panamericana grille. The images also suggest the bumper will mimic the one found on the AMG Line variants.

The sides more readily identify this as an AMG variant as we can see lightweight wheels that are backed up by a high-performance braking system. The latter feature ventilated discs as well as golden brake calipers. They’re joined by black mirror caps and familiar looking side skirts.

While it’s odd seeing an AMG variant without a four-tailpipe exhaust system, the C-Class EV appears to have an active rear spoiler. We also wouldn’t be surprised to find a sportier diffuser.

Spy photographers didn’t get a look inside, but the cabin should largely carryover from the standard model. This means we can expect a minimalist interior with an MBUX Superscreen that consists of a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14-inch infotainment system, and a 14-inch passenger display.

Customers should also be able to get a 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen, a dual wireless smartphone charger, and an illuminated panoramic glass roof. The model also offers Burmester 3D and 4D sound systems with stainless steel speaker grilles.

Since this is a high-performance variant, we can expect the interior will come equipped with an AMG steering wheel as well as standard sport seats. We also wouldn’t be surprised to find unique trim and special accents.

Mercedes-AMG C-Class Electric Will Bring The Fight To The BMW M3 EV

The C400 4MATIC Electric features a 94 kWh battery pack that feeds a dual-motor all-wheel drive system developing 482 hp (360 kW / 489 PS) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque. This enables the model to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds and have a WLTP range of up to 473 miles (762 km). Buyers will also find a 330 kW DC fast charging capability, which enables the car to get 202 miles (325 km) of range in as little as 10 minutes.

The AMG variant will undoubtedly be more powerful, but details remain hazy. However, rumors have suggested the car might have a tri-motor setup with around 789 hp (588 kW / 800 PS). That remains to be seen, but a debut could come later this year.

Bentley’s Electric SUV Has An Ultra-Lux Interior With Curved Displays

  • Bentley’s upcoming electric crossover has been spied inside and out.
  • Model sports curved displays, wood trim, and real metal accents.
  • Barnato is expected to cost around $200,000 and echo the Cayenne Electric.

Bentley is gearing up to introduce their “urban SUV” later this year and spy photographers have snapped new pictures of a prototype near the Nürburgring. While the exterior is hardly a surprise at this point, there are a couple of revealing interior images.

Drivers will sit behind a new three-spoke steering wheel, which has wing-like stalks similar to the Audi Q3. The right side has a shifter, while the left side has an assortment of light and wiper controls.

While an ultra-luxury SUV shouldn’t be rummaging around in the parts bin of a $44,000 crossover, Bentley did spruce things up a bit. We can see real metal accents as well as a knurled shifter surround. They’re joined by a unique steering wheel with a two-tone design, gloss black accents, and knurled thumb wheels.

More notably, the latest pictures give us a better look at the dashboard. The steering wheel resides in front of a curved digital instrument cluster, which reveals an undisguised look at the crossover’s rear end.

The infotainment system really stands out as it features a curved display with a portrait orientation. It’s a unique design and we can see the system will have a home button as well as HomeLink connectivity built-in.

\\\

SHProshots

There’s also a bottom row dedicated to climate controls and seat settings. However, occupants won’t have to fiddle with the display to adjust some preferences as the center console has dedicated climate control switchgear.

The front passenger side dashboard is also uncovered for the first time and it sports a sizable piece of wood trim. This is a nice departure from the onslaught of front passenger displays we’ve been seeing recently.

Other highlights include thick metal trim and circular air vents. We can also see contrast stitching and metal pedals.

\\\\\\

On the styling front, the Barnato closely echoes the Porsche Cayenne Electric. The similarities are most notable in profile, but the Bentley has a unique front end with a fully enclosed grille that is expected to mirror the one found on the EXP 15 concept. It’s flanked by circular lights that will likely resemble those found on the Continental and Flying Spur.

Below, there are wide intakes with a diamond mesh insert. They’re accompanied by a sensor pod that is mounted in the middle.

The rest of the design is pretty unremarkable, but we can see front fender badges, pronounced wheel arches, and a rear side charging port. The rump is partially covered by cladding, but the aforementioned interior image suggests the crossover will have a curvaceous butt with taillights that echo the rest of the lineup.

Bentley hasn’t said much about the crossover, but it will ride on the PPE platform that underpins an assortment of models including the Audi A6 and Q6 e-trons as well as the Porsche Macan and Cayenne Electric. The latter has a 113 kWh battery pack, a 390 kW DC fast charging capability, and outputs of 435 hp (324 kW / 441 PS), 657 hp (490 kW / 666 PS), and 1,139 hp (849 kW / 1,155 PS).

The Barnato, or whatever it’s called, will likely fall somewhere in between the latter two figures. Bentley has also said the model will be capable of getting 100 miles (161 km) of range in as little as seven minutes.

Bentley Americas CEO Mike Rocco has previously revealed the model will arrive in the United States in the third quarter of 2027 and likely be priced on the “lower end.” This suggests the crossover could cost around $200,000 to $250,000.

Mercedes-AMG’s Upcoming EV Looks Bland, But Will Let The Performance Do The Talking

  • The Mercedes-AMG GLA Electric has been spied in Europe.
  • Model looks relatively tame, but sports a few telltale upgrades.
  • Crossover could have three motors and more than 500 hp.

Spy photographers have snapped the electric Mercedes GLA on multiple occasions, but now they’ve gotten up close and personal with the AMG variant. It’s a hot electric crossover that looks suspiciously like a supersized hatchback.

While the front end is heavily disguised, it will likely follow in the footsteps of the CLA and GLB. Details are hard to make out, but we can see star-infused headlights and a wide lower intake.

The side profile is more revealing as there are extended fender flares that hint at a wider track. The performance variant is also notable for riding on lightweight wheels that are backed up by a beefy braking system with red calipers up front. They’re accompanied by low-profile tires and a sport-tuned suspension, which appears to have a lower ride height.

It’s hard to tell this is an AMG variant as the prototype’s booty is completely unremarkable. However, the production model could be distinguished by a slightly sportier bumper.

\\\

SHProshots

Putting the bland exterior aside, the cabin will largely carryover from its MMA counterparts. That being said, there are some notable performance touches including a leather and Alcantara flat-bottom steering wheel. The steering wheel also has two lower ‘buttons’ with integrated displays.

Elsewhere, we can see silver trim and heavily bolstered seats with white contrast stitching. The screens are largely covered, but we can expect a familiar 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14-inch infotainment system. They should be joined by an optional 14-inch front passenger display.

\\\\\\\\\

SHProshots

The GLA Electric is expected to be offered in 250+ and 350 4MATIC guise. In the CLA, the latter has an 85 kWh battery pack and a dual-motor all-wheel drive system producing a combined output of 349 hp (260 kW / 354 PS) and 380 lb-ft (515 Nm) of torque. It enables the sedan to accelerate from 0-60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.8 seconds and have an EPA range of 312 miles (502 km).

The AMG variant will undoubtedly improve on those numbers and rumors have suggested the crossover could have three axial flux motors producing more than 500 hp (373 kW / 507 PS). They could be accompanied by a unique battery with a higher energy density than the regular model.

The recently introduced AMG GT 4-Door has a similar layout as it has two axial flux motors out back and one up front. However, that model has a far higher output of 1,153 hp (860 kW / 1,169 PS).

Oil Giant Shell Unveils Efficient New EV Concept

  • Shell has introduced the new Triple 10 Challenge concept.
  • It’s billed as an affordable and efficient electric vehicle.
  • Car relies on and promotes the company’s Recharge fluid.

Shell has quietly unveiled a new concept known as the Triple 10 Challenge. It’s being described as a “ground-breaking proof-of-concept vehicle designed to inspire a new design philosophy for the next-generation of battery electric vehicles.”

Designed to be compact and affordable, the car is named after three key targets. They include getting 10-km/kWh, having a 10-tonne CO2e lifecycle footprint, and a recharging time of less than 10 minutes.

More: BYD Flash Charges To 97% In 9 Minutes, And KFC Just Figured Out What To Do With The Wait

Starting with the latter, the car’s “compact” battery can go from a 10% to 80% charge in 9 minutes and 54 seconds. That’s pretty quick and the time is achieved with a relatively common 175 kW DC fast charger.

The concept is also eco-friendly thanks to its lightweight design, “optimized battery capacity,” and use of recyclable materials. Furthermore, the EV is envisioned to use 100% renewable energy for recharging, so the combination of these factors could give it a “50% reduction in lifecycle emissions compared to typical battery electric vehicles in the European market.”

\\\\

On the efficiency front, Shell said the concept is the “first road-worthy vehicle to have successfully demonstrated the potential of a simplified, single-circuit cooling architecture to efficiently manage the thermal load of the car’s entire powertrain, even under the most extreme fast-charging scenario in real-world conditions.” This is effectively the main point as Shell has a new fluid to sell.

In this case, it’s Recharge thermal fluid. The company said the dielectric liquid “allows for direct immersion cooling of the battery and indirect cooling of the powertrain components, including the motor and power electronics.” Shell claimed the fluid allowed them to “unlocked the potential for faster charging, lighter systems, and improved lifecycle efficiency – using technologies that exist and can scale today.”

More: Gordon Murray And Shell Finally Reveal Their City Car Concept

While hard numbers were few and far between, the firm claimed an “over 30% improvement in overall energy efficiency compared to many current-generation EVs.” Shell also noted the battery pack cost has been reduced by around 25% thanks to an efficient design with fewer modules, a simplified housing architecture, and the company’s fluids.

Oil Giant Shell Unveils Efficient New EV Concept

The oil giant didn’t delve into specifications, but confirmed Empel Systems developed the car’s electric motor and drive unit, while RML worked on the battery and integration.

That’s not a lot to go on, but the Triple 10 appears to be a small five-door hatchback with an upright front fascia and an expansive light bar. They’re joined by digital side mirrors, flush-mounted door handles, and wheel discs with a ‘fake’ alloy design. We can also see a flowing roof and a minimalist interior with what looks like a rotary shifter.

Skoda Peaq Debuts As Three-Row EV Flagship With 402-Mile Range

  • Skoda has unveiled their new electric flagship, the Peaq.
  • It offers three powertrains and up to 402 miles of range.
  • Three-row crossover uses 110+ lbs of recycled materials.

Skoda’s electric vehicle offensive continues as the company has officially unveiled the three-row Peaq. It’s the brand’s new flagship and the model is even larger than the Kodiaq.

Previewed by the Vision 7S concept, the crossover has a Modern Solid design that incorporates T-shaped lighting units and a gloss black Tech-Deck Face. They’re joined by a sculpted hood, angular air curtains, and a stylized lower intake.

More: Skoda’s €25k Epiq Will Bring Electric Power To The Masses

Moving further back, we can see a rakish windscreen that flows into a long, sloping roof. The model wears streamlined bodywork and is notable for being the first Skoda to have flush-mounted door handles. They help the Peaq to achieve a drag coefficient as low as 0.249.

Other notable highlights include a distinctive greenhouse and a thick rear pillar. They’re accompanied by 19- to 21-inch wheels as well as a panoramic roof with Dynamic Shade Control. The latter uses electricity to adjust its transparency and Skoda said the roof is divided into nine individually controllable segments.

The rear end is relatively plain, but the model has T-shaped taillights and a prominent spoiler. Buyers will also find large “SKODA” lettering and an angular rear bumper.

Customers looking for something slightly more stylish can opt for the Sportline variant. It features gloss black accents and lettering as well as an available black roof. It also includes a lightly revised cabin with black sport seats and a three-spoke sport steering wheel.

In terms of size, the model measures 191.9 inches (4,874 mm) long and has a wheelbase that spans 116.7 inches (2,965 mm). This means the Peaq is 7.3 inches (185 mm) shorter than the Hyundai Ioniq 9 and has 6.5 inches (165 mm) less between the wheels.

A Classy, But Minimalist Cabin

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

The minimalist design continues inside, where there’s a digital instrument cluster and a 13.6-inch infotainment system. The latter runs Android and sports a vertical orientation, which is another first for Skoda.

Putting screens aside, we can see a floating center console, a tiered dashboard, and a wide center console. Physical switchgear has largely been eliminated, but there are dedicated controls for commonly used features.

The Peaq offers five- and seven-seat configurations and will be offered with an assortment of options. Highlights include a 16-speaker Sonos premium audio system and a dual Qi2 wireless smartphone charger that has an output of 25W.

Skoda Peaq Debuts As Three-Row EV Flagship With 402-Mile Range

Skoda is also proud of the optional Relax Package, which sees the crossover outfitted with lounge-like front seats. They have ergonomic legrests as well as ventilation and massage functions. The package also includes two headrest pillows as well as a center console table.

When it comes to space, the model offers up to 75.9 cubic feet (2,150 liters) of luggage room. If that’s not enough, the frunk provides an additional 1.3 cubic feet (37 liters).

Customers will find an assortment of driver assistance systems including Front Assist, Crossroad Assist, Turn Assist, and Side Assist. These standard systems can be joined by optional Travel Assist 3.0 and Top Area View 360°.

Three Powertrains

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

The Peaq rides on the MEB+ platform and offers three powertrains including an entry-level 60 variant. It uses a 63 kWh NMC battery as well as a rear-mounted motor developing 201 hp (150 kW / 204 PS) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque. This enables the crossover to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in as little as 8.4 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 99 mph (160 km/h).

More importantly, customers can expect a WLTP range of 285 miles (459 km). When the battery is low, a 160 kW DC fast charger can take it from 10-80% in as little as 27 minutes.

The mid-level Peaq 90 has a larger 91 kWh battery pack and a beefier motor producing 282 hp (210 kW / 286 PS) and 402 lb-ft (545 Nm) of torque. This lowers the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) time to 7.1 seconds, while the range increases to 402 miles (647 km).

Furthermore, the model has an upgraded 199 kW fast charging capability, which means it can go from 10-80% in just 28 minutes. While that’s nearly identical to the base model, you have to remember it’s charging a larger battery.

\\\\\\\\\\

Last but not least is the range-topping 90x. It combines the 91 kWh battery with a dual-motor all-wheel drive system producing 295 hp (220 kW / 299 PS). 62 mph (100 km/h) comes in as little as 6.7 seconds, while the range drops to 381 miles (613 km).

Rounding out the highlights are a one-pedal driving mode and a bidirectional charging capability. The crossover can also tow up to 4,409 lbs (2,000 kg).

Nissan Hits The Brakes On EV Version Of Its European Best-Seller

  • Nissan has reportedly stopped development of the Qashqai EV.
  • Automaker was coy, but mentioned “significant volatility” in demand.
  • Project may not be entirely dead, but a restart could have a big delay.

The Nissan Qashqai is the brand’s best-selling vehicle in Europe, so it wasn’t much of a surprise when the company announced plans for an electric version in 2023. However, like a handful of EVs, it’s quietly been dropped.

Citing six people familiar with the matter, Reuters is reporting the company has halted development ‌of the model. The project is said to have been frozen in early 2025 and it appears to be a victim of Nissan’s massive restructuring.

Review: The New Nissan Qashqai e-Power Drives Like An EV But Doesn’t Need Charging

The firm’s “Mobility Intelligence for Everyday Life” plan calls for streamlining their lineup and eliminating 11 models. When the strategy was announced, the company said they would be “exiting low-performing models and reallocating reinvestment to growth areas.”

While the lineup is shrinking, an assortment of new vehicles are on the horizon including a new Xterra, Skyline, and Juke EV. The latter was pitched as a “Europe Core model that combines bold, distinctive design with full electrification and intelligent features.”

Nissan Hits The Brakes On EV Version Of Its European Best-Seller

The article implies the project was halted over cost concerns, but it sounds like the idea of a Qashqai EV might not be entirely dead. However, two sources told the publication that if the program were to be restarted, the model likely wouldn’t be launched until the early 2030’s.

The automaker declined to address the status of the vehicle in a statement to Reuters, but said they’re committed to expanding their electrified lineup. However, they noted Europe has experienced “significant volatility” in electric vehicle demand, so they’re pursuing a “balanced” electrification strategy.

This suggests the development freeze might not have been about money, but a lack of demand. Regardless, Nissan doesn’t seem particularly interested in building a Qashqai EV at the moment.

BMW’s Next M3 Could Keep Three Pedals And Won’t Plug In Like The M5

  • BMW M CEO has confirmed the next-gen M3 will offer ICE and electric power.
  • New M Ignite engine that debuts in the current M3 will carry over to new model.
  • Gas-powered sedan is expected to arrive in 2028, roughly a year after the EV.

BMW used the 24 Hours of Le Mans to introduce the electric M Neue Klasse concept. However, the next-gen M3 isn’t going electric-only.

In an interview, BMW M CEO Frank Van Meel confirmed the next-generation model will be offered with a version of the company’s updated twin-turbo 3.0-liter straight-six engine that complies with Euro 7 emission standards. Announced last month, the mill uses BMW M Ignite technology to burn cleaner and more efficiently.

More: BMW M Found A Way To Make The M3 And M4 Greener Without Touching Power

The engine will appear in the current M3 and M4 next month, while the M2 will get it in August. However, Van Meel told PistonHeads it will also be used in the next-generation of performance cars.

As he said, “Our motorsport-derived-tech M Ignite Euro 7 S58 comes out this year, so I can say that it will survive to go into our future M cars.” He added, “It won’t be hybrid as we’re sticking with the perfect combustion principle.”

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

That being said, the ICE-powered version of the next M3 will have mild hybrid technology. However, it won’t follow in the footsteps of the M5 and be a plug-in hybrid. That’s good news, because the latter super sedan has packed on the pounds thanks to a beefy 22.1 kWh battery pack.

Furthermore, despite earlier reports, Van Meel suggested a manual transmission is a possibility as he said “We want to do it for the driving emotion.” This shouldn’t be too surprising as it sounds like the upcoming model will effectively have a carryover powertrain.

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

The report also suggested the upcoming electric variant might not be called the i3 M as many expected. This could make things confusing, but the company reportedly wants people to know the EV is a ‘proper’ M3. Speaking of which, Van Meel said “The EV won’t just be the quicker car in a straight line, it’ll be faster around a track too.”

Aside from the next-generation M3, the executive revealed they’re “dreaming” about an M1 successor and a production model is “entirely possible.” However, he added that “you have to have the production capacity” to build it.

Peugeot’s First Electric GTi Does 62 MPH In 5.5 Seconds For Under €43,000

  • Peugeot has detailed the new e‑208 GTi, which costs €42,900 ($49,646).
  • Model features a 54 kWh battery and a motor developing 277 hp.
  • It hits 62 mph in 5.5 seconds and can travel up to 233 miles on a charge.

Following a preview earlier this month, Peugeot has unveiled the e‑208 GTi. The hot hatch packs a surprising punch and is the brand’s first fully electric performance variant.

Starting with the powertrain, the model has an M4+ motor developing 277 hp (207 kW / 281 PS) and 254 lb-ft (345 Nm) of torque. It enables the car to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 5.5 seconds, before hitting a limited top speed of 112 mph (180 km/h).

More: Peugeot’s Next 208 Wants To Reinvent The Wheel

The motor is powered by a 54 kWh battery pack, which gives the vehicle a combined WLTP range of up to 233 miles (375 km). However, on the standard Michelin Pilot Sport 4S performance tires, the range drops to 219 miles (352 km). Other highlights include a best in class power‑to‑weight ratio and a 100 kW DC fast charging capability, which enables the battery to go from 20–80% in less than 30 minutes.

\\\\\\\

Sticking with the performance theme, the e‑208 GTi has been lowered by 1-inch (25 mm) and features a wider track. The model also sports unique springs and dampers, a mechanical limited‑slip differential, and an additional anti‑roll bar. The latter resides out back and joins the front anti‑roll bar found on the regular model.

Since we’ve already seen the car before, we’ll briefly mention it features a unique front lip and a revised gloss black diffuser with an F1-inspired rear fog light. They’re joined by red accents, extended wheel arches, “perforated” 18-inch wheels, and 208 GTi badging on the C-pillars.

\\\

The red theme continues inside as there are red carpets, floor mats, seatbelts, and stitching. They’re accompanied by special sport seats that pay tribute to the 205 GTi 1.9 and feature a “central red insert and red mesh detail” evocative of the 205 GTi 1.6.

Elsewhere, there’s a leather and Alcantara steering wheel, red‑themed displays, and red ambient lighting – although seven other colors are also available. Peugeot also mentioned a “sound ambience” system, which is linked to your speed and can be deactivated.

The company is currently accepting orders and pricing starts at €42,900 ($49,646) in France including taxes. That undercuts the 600 Abarth, which begins at €46,900 ($54,280).

Maserati Dealers Are Knocking $20,000 Off The Grecale EV, And It Still Seems Overpriced

  • Maserati dealers are struggling to get rid of the 2025 Grecale Folgore EV.
  • Some dealers are offering discounts of between $16,000 and $20,000.
  • Even then, many of the crossovers still cost more than $100,000.

Maserati shot themselves in the foot when they replaced the Levante with the Grecale, but the bad moves didn’t stop there. The company decided to offer a fully electric Folgore variant, which starts at $119,900 for 2026.

That’s ridiculously expensive, especially when the Porsche Macan Electric begins at $80,300. It’s even more mind-boggling when you consider the Macan Turbo Electric comes in at $112,700 and is far more powerful.

A silver example carries the steepest price cut, with the $136,645 sticker price having been slashed to $117,149. That’s a savings of $19,496, which is almost enough to buy a new Hyundai Venue.

The dealership also has a white Grecale Folgore with a $16,903 discount, as well as a black model, which has been marked down by $16,767. The latter now costs $101,683, which still feels steep.

In Connecticut, Valenti Maserati has similar discounts, offering two 2025 Grecale Folgores for less than $100,000. The cheapest has been marked down to $97,675, which is $17,210 below MSRP.

The other model originally stickered for $116,855, but it’s been slashed to $99,329 for a savings of $17,526. Of course, you could probably lowball them and get an even better deal.

As for the 2026 Grecale Folgore, it features a dual-motor all-wheel drive system developing 542 hp (404 kW / 550 PS) and 604 lb-ft (818 Nm) of torque. This enables the crossover to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in four seconds flat, hit a top speed of 137 mph (220 km/h), and have a range of up to 286 miles (460 km). However, that plummets to 239 miles (385 km) with 21-inch wheels.

ORA 7 Looks Like A Beetle Got Knocked Up By A Porsche

  • The ORA 7 has been revealed by Chinese officials.
  • It mixes Porsche and Volkswagen styling cues.
  • EV offers two body styles and two different motors.

Great Wall Motor’s ORA lineup is known for questionable styling, but the brand is taking things to new heights with the upcoming 7. The model was recently revealed by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and it looks like a Volkswagen and Porsche hooked up.

Starting with the wagon, we can see a Beetle-esque front end with a sloping hood and circular headlights. They’re joined by a slender intake and a geometric pattern on the bumper.

Review: GWM Ora GT Proves The Chinese Mean Business

Further back, the beltline and window treatment recall the Porsche Cayenne. Designers also gave the car curvaceous bodywork, a gently sloping roof, and a charging port on the front fender. The model will also be offered with 18- and 19-inch wheels.

The rear end is relatively plain by comparison, but it features teardrop-style taillights and a hatch with a rear wiper. They’re joined by a spoiler and a no thrills bumper.

\\\

The sedan is largely identical, but it features a sportier roofline and an upper body reminiscent of older Panameras. The model also trades a hatch for a small trunk, while eschewing a rear wiper altogether.

The MIIT listing reveals the vehicles share a 113-inch (2,870 mm) wheelbase, but have slightly different lengths of 190 inches (4,820 mm) and 192.5 inches (4,890 mm). The sedan also has a roof that sits 0.7 inches (17 mm) lower.

Powertrain details are limited, but the ORA 7 will have a lithium iron phosphate battery that feeds electric motors with outputs of 201 hp (150 kW / 204 PS) and 215 hp (160 kW / 218 PS). They enable the model to hit a top speed of up to 112 mph (180 km/h).

Mercedes Expands The GLC Electric’s Lineup With Cheaper Models

  • The Mercedes GLC Electric lineup is expanding with two new additions.
  • Both feature a smaller 85 kWh battery pack and reduced charging capacity.
  • Base model has RWD and 349 hp, while other uses 416 hp AWD system.

Mercedes introduced the GLC 400 4MATIC with EQ Technology last fall and now they’re expanding the lineup with two more affordable variants in Europe. The cheapest starts at €64,736 ($74,765) in Germany, which is €6,545 ($7,558) less than the range-topper.

That’s a considerable savings, but there are quite a few tradeoffs. The biggest is that the entry-level GLC 250 Electric has a smaller 85 kWh battery pack and a single rear-mounted motor producing 349 hp (260 kW / 354 PS) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque. It enables the crossover to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 5.9 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 130 mph (210 km/h).

More: Star-Stricken Mercedes GLC EV Has A Grille Big Enough To Swallow A BMW iX3

Besides being slower, the GLC 250 has a less impressive range of up to 404 miles (650 km). That’s 40 miles (65 km) less than the GLC 400 4MATIC and buyers also get a slightly lower 320 kW DC fast charging capability. However, it still enables the battery to go from 10-80% in as little as 22 minutes.

\\\\\\\

The GLC 300 4MATIC Electric is similar, but it features a dual-motor all-wheel drive system with 416 hp (310 kW / 421 PS) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque. This lowers the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) time to 4.7 seconds, while the top speed remains unchanged. Unfortunately, the WLTP range falls to 383 miles (616 km).

Pricing starts at €68,306 ($78,894), which is €2,975 ($3,436) less than the GLC 400. That model, as you may recall, has a larger 94 kWh battery and a beefier dual-motor all-wheel drive system developing 483 hp (360 kW / 489 PS). The combination enables the crossover to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.3 seconds and travel up to 444 miles (715 km) between charges.

There’s no word on US availability at the moment, but the UK will be getting the GLC 250 Electric. It starts at £55,495.

Peugeot’s Production 208 GTi Is Here, And It’s Electric

  • Peugeot has released the first pictures of the production e‑208 GTi.
  • It closely echoes last year’s concept and features numerous red accents.
  • Details will be announced next week, but it could have 276 hp.

Nearly one year ago, Peugeot introduced the e‑208 GTi concept on the eve of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The automaker is now returning with the production model, which will be fully detailed on June 12.

While the automaker is keeping information under wraps, they released a handful of pictures and noted the model “remains incredibly close to the original 2025 concept.” They added the car has a “sporty yet elegant design” as well as “performance figures intended to WOW.”

More: The First Electric GTI Isn’t From VW

The hot hatch certainly looks the part as it has a lightly revised Lion logo with a red surround. The sporty hue can also be found on the outside edges of the grille as well as incorporated into the lighting units. They’re joined by a revamped front splitter, which is painted to match the body color.

Peugeot’s Production 208 GTi Is Here, And It’s Electric

Further back, we can see gloss black mirrors and dark window trim. Other highlights include black fender flares with red accents as well as “208 GTi” badging on the rear pillar. The car also appears to ride on a set of aerodynamically optimized seven-spoke wheels, which are backed up by a braking system with red calipers.

The rear end largely carries over, but the car adopts a new spoiler with a contrasting red accent on the underside. It’s accompanied by a far more aggressive diffuser and a motorsport-inspired central brake light.

Peugeot’s Production 208 GTi Is Here, And It’s Electric

Interior changes are more modest, but we can see a lightly revised flat-bottom steering wheel with “208 GTi” branding. Elsewhere, there are sporty front seats with red center stripes. Other highlights include red contrast stitching, red illumination, and special graphics for the displays.

We’ll learn full details next week, but the concept had a 54 kWh CATL battery that powered an electric motor developing 276 hp (206 kW / 280 PS) and 254 lb-ft (345 Nm) of torque. This enabled the car to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 5.7 seconds, before topping out at 112 mph (180 km/h).

Other highlights included a limited-slip differential and a 100 kW DC fast charging capability that enabled the model to go from 20% to 80% in less than 30 minutes. While Peugeot originally hinted at a range of 217 miles (350 km), the instrument cluster implies the production model can travel 233 miles (375 km) between stops.

WRX Sales Soar 148% After Subaru Stops Charging Too Much

  • Following significant price cuts, WRX sales soared nearly 150%.
  • Model starts at $32,495 and has a 2.4-liter turbo with 271 hp.
  • Overall sales were up 10.6%, thanks to the Crosstrek and Forester.

The Honda Prelude continues to kick the Subaru BRZ’s butt as the former sold 318 hybrid coupes in May. That outpaced their more traditional rival, which only moved 255 units.

Thankfully, it wasn’t all bad news for sporty Subies as WRX sales soared 147.9% to 1,195 units. The company didn’t bother mentioning the low-volume sedan in their sales release, but the increase is hardly surprising given the fact that they slashed prices and brought back the entry-level variant.

More: WRX Sales Fell Off A Cliff, So Subaru Brings Back The Cheap One

Thanks to the changes, the 2026 WRX begins at $32,495 and that’s $5,255 less than last year’s model. Subaru also lowered the price of the WRX Premium by $3,755, while the WRX Limited was slashed by $3,685. Even the WRX GT and WRX tS got a $2,710 reduction.

Putting the fun stuff aside, overall Subaru sales were up 10.4% last month to 57,748 units. This was largely due to strong demand for the Crosstrek and Forester.

WRX Sales Soar 148% After Subaru Stops Charging Too Much

Subaru noted the Crosstrek achieved its best May ever, while hybrid sales hit a new monthly record. The Japanese automaker also posted its best-ever EV monthly sales of 3,094 units.

While the Solterra dropped 39.8%, the decline in sales was more than offset by the new Trailseeker and Uncharted. It’s worth noting the latter EV even outsold the aforementioned WRX.

WRX Sales Soar 148% After Subaru Stops Charging Too Much

As for the rest of the lineup, it wasn’t pretty and we’re not talking about the Outback. Sales of the aging Ascent continued their descent, while the Impreza plunged 35.8%. The zombie Legacy found 90 takers, but sales should fade quickly as a quick search suggests less than 100 new units remain in inventory.

BMW’s New iX5 M Could Make The Gas X5 M Look Weak

  • Spy photographers believe this prototype is the upcoming iX5 M.
  • Crossover sports a unique front end and a beefy braking system.
  • iX5 60 is expected to have 569 hp, so expect even more from the M.

Spy photographers have snapped the upcoming BMW X5 and iX5 on multiple occasions, but now they’re claiming to have caught the iX5 M. While it’s hard to be certain, the model is certainly more aggressive than previous prototypes.

As you can see, the crossover embraces a Neue Klasse design and appears to have a similar grille and headlight treatment as mainstream models. However, it adopts a far more aggressive lower intake that sports larger openings and angular lines. We can also see what appears to be a mid-mounted intake covered by a mesh panel.

More: BMW Leak Reveals Two Very Different Futures For 2028 X5 And 7-Series Facelift

Sporty features can also be found further back as the prototype rides on lightweight five-spoke wheels. They’re wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires and are backed up by a beefy braking system, which features cross-drilled discs and massive front calipers.

The rear end is pretty tame by comparison, but we can see slender taillights and a pronounced spoiler. The model also sports an angular rear window and a recessed license plate.

\\\\\\\\

Baldauf

Little is known about the crossover at this point, but EPA documents suggested the iX5 60 will have a massive 147.8 kWh battery pack as well as a dual motor all-wheel drive system producing a combined output of 569 hp (424 kW / 576 PS) and 594 lb-ft (805 Nm) of torque. We can also expect an 800-volt electrical architecture and fast DC charging.

That leaves plenty of questions about how powerful an iX5 M could be, but we’ve already heard rumors about an iX7 M70 with more than 800 hp (597 kW / 811 PS). Of course, we’ll likely get a better idea once the regular model debuts.

Audi’s TT Successor Is Still A Porsche Boxster In Disguise

  • Work continues on Audi’s highly anticipated TT successor.
  • New Porsche-based mule has been spied undergoing testing.
  • Upcoming model will go into production next year in Germany.

Audi introduced the Concept C at last year’s Munich Motor Show and the model continues its slow march to production. Spy photographers snapped the first mules over a year ago and hardly anything has changed since then.

As you can see in the latest images, Audi is still testing mules based on the upcoming Porsche 718 Boxster EV. However, the car has been equipped with extended fender flares that hint at a wider track than on its corporate cousin.

More: This Porsche 718 Could Be Hiding Audi’s Next TT

That’s not much to go on, but it’s a little surprising we’re still seeing mules rather than proper prototypes. In April, Audi announced their electric sports car would go into production in 2027 and be built at their Böllinger Höfe site, which specializes in small-series assembly.

This doesn’t leave much time, but production likely won’t begin until late next year. Even then, the company has less than 600 days to get everything finalized.

\\\\\\\\\\

SHProshots

Of course, it’s not like Audi is starting from scratch. Quite the opposite, as the roadster will be based on Porsche’s new 718, which has been undergoing testing for roughly four years. While that model will now be offered with electric and internal combustion engines, Audi is expected to go the EV-only route.

Powertrain details are scarce, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the model is offered with detuned versions of the 718’s motors. The car could also have an 800-volt architecture as well as a relatively speedy fast charging capability.

While the TT successor will have a lot in common with its Porsche counterparts, the model will have a unique design that could embrace a fancy retractable hardtop like the Concept C. We can also expect a minimalist interior, which isn’t focused entirely on screens.

Hyundai Hybrid Sales Jumped 90% As Gas Climbed Past $4 A Gallon

  • High gas prices have supercharged Hyundai’s hybrid and EV sales.
  • Hybrid sales soared 90% in May, while EVs were up 10%.
  • Overall sales climbed 3% as Korean brand moved 87,468 units.

The national average price of a gallon of regular gasoline is $4.29 and that’s up nearly $1.15 from a year ago. However, some states like California are paying over $6 per gallon.

Given the sky-high prices, it’s no surprise that customers are embracing hybrids and even showing renewed interest in EVs. That’s certainly the case over at Hyundai, where hybrid sales soared 90% compared to last year. Sonata Hybrid sales were up 250%, while the Santa Fe (30%), Elantra (29%), and Tucson (10%) hybrids also experienced gains.

More: Hyundai’s Best-Seller Gets Cheaper Hybrids And A New Blackout Model

Electric vehicles also bounced back following the elimination of the federal tax credit last year. In fact, the Ioniq 5 celebrated its best May ever as sales jumped 28% to 5,002 units. The model is now up 16% year-to-date as customers have snapped up 18,395 electric hatchbacks.

The Ioniq 9 is also doing okay as customers bought 1,145 last month. That’s not great, but it’s still a 279% increase from this time last year.

Hyundai Hybrid Sales Jumped 90% As Gas Climbed Past $4 A Gallon

Overall, Hyundai sales were up 3% to 87,468 units. This was largely due to the Tucson, which found 20,581 buyers in May. The crossover was followed by the affordable Elantra, which was up 7% to 16,819 units. The Palisade is also proving popular as consumers snapped up 13,089 of them.

As for the losers, they’re not much of a surprise as Ioniq 6 sales fell 85% to 176 units. Of course, that’s hardly shocking as the company dropped the mainstream model and the high-performance N variant isn’t on sale in America yet.

The Santa Cruz plunged 41%, while the Venue fell 27%. The latter feels like a relic from a bygone era, while the unibody truck is expected to be living on borrowed time.

Dodge Hikes 2027 Charger Daytona Prices By Five Figures, Basically Begs Buyers To Skip The EV

  • The 2027 Dodge Charger gets 25 new personalization options.
  • The Charger Daytona now comes with a native NACS port.
  • Model starts at $49,995, but the EV gets a $12,500 price hike.

Dodge announced a handful of changes to the 2027 Charger Daytona Scat Pack last winter and now the company has revealed more information about the larger Charger lineup. Highlights include 25 new customization options and a NACS port for the EV.

Starting outside, ICE-powered models can be equipped with a new Satin Black painted hood. Buyers will also find new dual stripes – in Satin White, Satin Black, and Gloss Red – as well as expanded graphic choices. The latter include “Charger” blade stripes and strobe stripes in the aforementioned colors.

More: The Charger EV Still Isn’t Selling, So Dodge Hiked Prices By Over $12,000

Rounding out the exterior highlights is a new Mopar accessory glass roof sunshade. Buyers will also find a Brembo braking system that now offers orange and black calipers.

One of the coolest updates resides inside Scat Pack models. For 2027, they can be equipped with new Petrol Blue leather sport seats that feature “Digital Slash” perforation and red contrast stitching. They’re a nice departure from the usual black or red.

Last but not least, all Chargers can be equipped with new Demonic Red seat belts. They help to add an extra splash of color to the cabin.

\\\\\\

Pricing for the 2027 Charger starts at $49,995, which is the same as last year’s model. However, the electric Charger Daytona Scat Pack soars to $72,495, which is an increase of $12,500. As we’ve previously noted, Dodge appears to be actively discouraging sales of the slow-selling EV with the massive price hike.

As a refresher, the Charger R/T has a twin-turbo 3.0-liter Hurricane inline-six developing 420 hp (313 kW / 426 PS) and 468 lb-ft (634 Nm) of torque. It enables the model to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 4.6 seconds and run the quarter-mile in 12.9 seconds.

Upgrading to the Scat Pack rewards buyers with a high output engine developing 550 hp (410 kW / 558 PS) and 531 lb-ft (719 Nm). Thanks to the extra power, the dash to 60 mph (96 km/h) falls to 3.9 seconds while the quarter-mile comes in 12.2 seconds.

\\\\

The Charger Daytona Scat Pack is the performance champ as it sports a dual-motor all-wheel drive system with 670 hp (500 kW / 679 PS) and 627 lb-ft (849 Nm) of torque. 60 mph (96 km/h) comes in 3.3 seconds, while the quarter-mile blows past in 11.5 seconds. However, you’ll have to keep trips short as the model only has 267 miles (430 km) of range.

Dodge is currently accepting orders for the 2027 Charger and cars will begin arriving at dealerships in the third quarter.

The New Rolls-Royce Spectre II Hides 8,108 Tiny Lights In Its Dashboard

  • Rolls-Royce has introduced the new Spectre Series II.
  • Model sports a beefier battery pack and upgraded motors.
  • Luxury coupe has a revamped interior with new options.

Four years after its introduction, Rolls-Royce has introduced an updated Spectre. Known as the Series II, the model benefits from styling changes, an upgraded powertrain, and significantly increased range.

Looking instantly recognizable, the electric coupe eschews the expected facelift. Instead, the only exterior changes appear to be a new Ethereal Blue paint job and 23-inch forged alloy wheels, which offer a part-polished or fully polished finish.

Review: The Rolls-Royce Spectre Is The Ultimate EV

That’s a tad surprising, but the Spectre Black Badge goes a step further as it now features Iced Black Exterior Detailing, which sees most brightwork replaced by a matte finish. The performance variant also rides on new wheels for an “even more imposing visual character.”

A Modernized Interior With New Options

The New Rolls-Royce Spectre II Hides 8,108 Tiny Lights In Its Dashboard

Bigger changes occur inside as the car adopts a modernized dashboard with a new widescreen display. Rolls-Royce didn’t bother explaining, but noted there’s “new Illuminated Fascia artwork.” It sports a directional wave pattern, which is composed of 8,108 individual pixel-like illuminations. Buyers will also find a new clock, which draws inspiration from aircraft instrumentation.

Elsewhere, Rolls-Royce “significantly expands the interior palette, offering new materials, treatments and crafted details of remarkable depth and variety.” Among the new additions is Duality Twill, which is a rayon fabric made from bamboo.

The eco-friendly material features embroidery “reminiscent of the interweaving rope lines found on sailing yachts.” The textile is available in four colors – Black, Chocolate, Lilac, and Sage – while there are more than 50 different color options for the embroidered elements. Overall, Rolls-Royce said a Duality Twill interior can incorporate up to 2.6 million stitches, 10 miles (16 km) of thread, and up to 25 hours to create.

\\\\\\\\\\

Customers can also opt for new Placed Perforation leather, which allows for precision-cut patterns to form unique works of art. As an example, Rolls-Royce created an image of clouds in moonlight by making 78,138 perforations in three different sizes on the backrests and headrests. While it sounds impressive, the design doesn’t look particularly good as it resembles more of a camouflage pattern than a night sky.

Last but not least, Rolls-Royce offers a new high gloss Brindled Walnut veneer. It incorporates fine powder glass flakes to give the trim a shimmering appearance.

More Power And Range

On the performance front, the dual motor all-wheel drive system has been upgraded to produce 593 hp (442 kW / 601 PS) and 749 lb-ft (1,015 Nm) of torque. That’s a notable increase over the old rating of 577 hp (430 kW / 584 PS) and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm). Thanks to the extra oomph, the dash from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) takes 4.4 seconds.

The upgrades don’t end there as Rolls-Royce mentioned “re-engineered battery cell technology” that increases the range up to 18%, while reducing recharging times by up to 14%. The automaker was vague on specifics, but confirmed the battery capacity has increased to 112.4 kWh.

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

This enables the standard model to travel up to 390 miles (628 km) in the WLTP cycle between charges. When the battery is low, a 195 kW DC fast charger can take it from 10-80% in as little as 28 minutes.

The Black Badge, on the other hand, produces up to 671 hp (500 kW / 680 PS) and 811 lb-ft (1,100 Nm) of torque. This lowers the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) time to 4.1 seconds.
