Hyundai Reveals New Ioniq 6, Teases Long-Awaited 6 N

  • The refreshed electric sedan includes a thoroughly revised front fascia.
  • Hyundai has added an N Line trim to the Ioniq 6 family for 2026.
  • The Model 3 Performance-rivalling Ioniq 6 N should pack around 641 hp.

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 is a brilliant EV, but its design has always been a little controversial. Now, the brand has launched a facelifted version of the Ioniq 6, and it certainly looks a lot sleeker while retaining the streamlined shape of the model we’re all familiar with.

This new Ioniq 6 has been unveiled at the Seoul Mobility Show, although no clear images of the revised rear-end have been published. Fortunately, we have been provided with a good look at the overhauled front fascia. Not only does it look more refined than the old model, but it’s also more aggressive, particularly in N Line guise.

Read: Hyundai Ioniq 6 N Could Be Even Better Than The 5 N

One of the more peculiar parts of the outgoing model was the headlights. Just like Hyundai did with the Sonata, the carmaker has ditched these weird lights in favor of split lights, consisting of thin LED daytime running lights and separate headlamps positioned lower in the bumper. It makes a world of difference to the EV’s design.

Those who want something a little more aggressive would be wise to opt for the new Ioniq 6 N Line. It opens up the front fascia, and much like the Elantra N, includes a gaping wide grille and air intakes. Hyundai is also promising a new rear bumper that incorporates more black parts, and has showcased the N Line with distinctive silver and black wheels.

 Hyundai Reveals New Ioniq 6, Teases Long-Awaited 6 N

The rear of the new Ioniq 6 retains the LED light bar of the outgoing model, but now includes a large ducktail lip spoiler. It’s also ditched the odd second spoiler that was positioned at the base of the rear window, and it looks much better because of it.

“IONIQ 6 has evolved from a single Electrified Streamliner into a lineup, each model expressing its own character while staying true to one refined vision,” the head of Hyundai Design Center, Simon Loasby said of the new model. “Under the evolved design concept of ‘Pure Flow, Refined’, we’ve enhanced every line and detail to make IONIQ 6 simpler and more progressive.”

Some minor tweaks have been made to the cabin of the new Ioniq 6, too. For example, there’s a different three-spoke steering wheel, the window switches have been repositioned, and there are new USB ports. No technical details about the new model have been announced.

Hyundai Ioniq 6 N

Perhaps the most exciting titbit from these images is our first proper teaser of the long-awaited Hyundai Ioniq 6 N. It’s inspired by the RN22e concept from a few years ago and has been showcased with a bespoke rear fascia, a large fixed rear wing, and new LED taillights. There’s no word on its power, but it should have the same basic dual-motor system as the Ioniq 5 N, producing the same 641 hp and also featuring synthetic exhaust sounds and a simulated eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. It will be unveiled in July.

2026 Polestar 2 Looks The Same But Hides Major Interior Upgrade

  • The Polestar 2 gains Snapdragon chip boosting infotainment speed and connectivity.
  • Optional Bowers & Wilkins 14-speaker system adds 1,350 Watts of premium audio clarity.
  • New CATL-sourced 70 kWh battery increases WLTP range of base model to 344 miles.

The Polestar 2 is the longest-serving member of the lineup, having debuted in 2019. Despite its age, the Swedish brand has kept it up to date with a 2023 facelift and a steady stream of model year updates. For 2026, the fully electric liftback gets a tech-focused refresh that includes a new infotainment processor, an optional Bowers & Wilkins audio system, and expanded personalization options.

Starting with the exterior, the Polestar 2 is now available in a Dune shade, a sandy hue with a smooth mica finish that replaces the Jupiter color. In addition, the optional Performance Pack also features updated 20-inch forged alloy wheels with a fresh five-spoke design.

Moving inside, the EV gains a more advanced Qualcomm Snapdragon processor chip, bringing it closer to the rest of the Polestar lineup in terms of computing power. The upgraded chip boosts download speeds, improves responsiveness, and enhances the overall performance of the infotainment system.

An interesting addition to the optional equipment is the Bowers & Wilkins audio system with 14 speakers and a total output of 1,350 Watts. Furthermore, the optional Plus Pack adds a new bio-attributed MicroTech upholstery finished in Charcoal with a quilting design, and Black Ash inserts. Finally, the new Prime Pack bundles together the Pilot, Plus, and Climate packs alongside privacy glass on the rear side windows and rear glass.

\\\\\\

There are no mechanical changes for 2026, but the CATL-sourced 70 kWh battery option that was introduced last year will be made available in more markets, replacing the older 69 kWh battery supplied by LG Chem. This results in a slight increase to the WLTP figure of the Standard Range Single Motor variant, from 546 km (339 miles) to 554 km (344 miles).

The Polestar 2 is compatible with the Plug & Charge technology introduced by the Polestar 3, which allows drivers to simply plug in the cable to a public charger and let the vehicle initiate and authenticate the process.

The 2026 Polestar 2 is already available to order in Europe, with other markets, including the US, set to follow later this year.

Xiaomi-Backed $41K EV Looks Like A Tesla Roadster Hooked Up With A Lancia

  • Chinese EV sports coupe with 429 hp launches April 15 with a $41,300 starting price.
  • JMEV01 tips scales at 3,009 lbs, significantly lighter than MG Cyberster flagship variant.
  • Distinctive retro design echoes Tesla Roadster and Lancia Stratos styling cues throughout.

With a constant stream of electric vehicles pouring out of China , trying to keep track of them all is starting to feel like a full-time job. There’s always something new vying for attention, but every now and then, one stands out from the crowd. One of the more intriguing entries, a lightweight electric sports car that first appeared back in 2022 as the SC-01, is now resurfacing—this time ready for production.

Recently rebranded as the JMEV01, the coupe is finally set to hit the Chinese market on April 15, after spending some time under the radar. Visually, it lands somewhere between the Tesla Roadster and a Lancia Stratos, which is no bad thing.

Read: The SSC SC-01 Is A $42,000 Chinese Electric Sports Car With 429HP

The SC-01 was originally the brainchild of a startup called Small Sports Car (SSC), but it has since found a new identity under the JMEV brand. JMEV itself is part of Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC), a Chinese automaker that was once partnered with Renault—at least until the French walked away from the joint venture in 2023. Now, the project is getting financial backing from Xiaomi, as CarnewsChina reports. Welcome to the overlapping Venn diagram that is the Chinese EV industry.

Prices for the JMEV01 are expected to start under 300,000 yuan, or roughly $41,300, and the official launch is scheduled for mid-April.

At a time when most EVs seem to double as workout equipment for suspension engineers, the JMEV01 represents a welcome change. It’s underpinned by a tubular spaceframe chassis and reportedly tips the scales at just 3,009 lbs (1,365 kg). To put that into perspective, the similarly sized MG Cyberster weighs 4,376 lbs (1,985 kg) in its flagship guise, so JMC has clearly done some clever things to keep the weight down.

Range and Performance

\\\\\\\\\\\

We don’t yet have specifics on the battery pack’s capacity, but we do know it’s being sourced from CALB and is expected to deliver up to 323 miles (520 km) of range on the CLTC cycle. That energy feeds a pair of electric motors producing a combined 429 hp (320 kW), good for a 0–62 mph (100 km/h) sprint in just 3.9 seconds.

The exterior design of the JMEV01 is something to behold. In a world where many EVs look unnecessarily futuristic and are dominated by smooth surfaces and curved lines to aid in aerodynamics, this sports car looks more traditional, and is all the better for it. The front end includes sharp headlights with black surrounds, a large grille and air intakes, and a clamshell-style hood.

From the rear three-quarter angle, the Lancia Stratos inspiration becomes impossible to miss. The JMEV01 features a flat decklid, a tidy lip spoiler, circular taillights, and a blacked-out bumper—details that give it the look of a rally icon filtered through Chinese lens.

More: China’s Giant Space Solar Station Could Beam Endless Power To EVs And Homes

It’s still too early to say whether the JMEV01 will live up to its promise, but on paper, it’s ticking a lot of the right boxes. If nothing else, it’s proof that not every EV coming out of China has to be a 5,000-pound tech pod shaped like a jellybean with lightbars.

Four-Door Dodge Charger Daytona Makes Public Debut

  • Dodge showed the four-door Charger along with the coupe at SpringFest 2025.
  • Production of the new model is set to begin in May for the 2026 model year.
  • Stellantis will produce both electric and six-cylinder versions of the new Charger.

Dodge gave members of the public their first opportunity to see the four-door Charger Daytona last weekend at SpringFest 2025 in Southern California. The automaker has released several images of the car in the past, but this is our first chance to see it up close and painted in a special shade of blue known as Bludicrous.

While the new two-door Charger could be best viewed as a replacement to the Challenger, the four-door is a direct successor to the previous-gen Charger. No, it will not be sold with a V8, and we will have to make do with an electric powertrain or, for those yearning for an ICE, a twin-turbocharged six.

Read: Does The 2025 Dodge Charger Sedan Outmuscle Its Predecessor In Style?

While we don’t mind the shape of the two-door Charger, the doors do look a little too small and the space between the doors and the rear wheels is way too big. Fortunately, the proportions of the four-door Charger Daytona look a little nicer, and this paint color is spectacular. It could look even better with a widebody kit, but we’ll likely have to wait some time for Dodge to launch such a model.

Customer deliveries for the four-door Charger were initially scheduled to start in Q1 2025, but production has been delayed until May, with the car launching for the 2026 model year.

In addition to showcasing this Bluedicrous Charger, Dodge brought along the black and red two-door model it previewed last week. It is bathed in black with matte black racing stripes with hundreds of small Fratzog logos and red pin stripes. Dodge’s online configurator doesn’t include these stripes, which is a shame, as we think they suit the car nicely and could be popular among shoppers if they were available.

Cupra Teams Up With ABT For Special Editions

  • Cupra and ABT have announced a new collaboration for “customized vehicles”.
  • The first models will be the Cupra Leon and Formentor, but others will follow.
  • The ABT treatment includes subtle aero add-ons and 21-inch alloy wheels.

ABT is widely known for turning Audi models into something a bit more exciting, but the German tuning company isn’t limiting itself to just one brand. They’ve expanded their reach within the Volkswagen Group, now partnering with Cupra to create a series of “customized vehicles.”

The announcement took place at ABT’s headquarters in Kempten, Germany, further expanding the collaboration of the two brands, which are already working together in the Extreme E and Formula E motorsport series.

More: ABT Takes The Cupra Formentor VZ5 To 444 HP For 911-Rivaling Performance

The first Cupra products to receive the official ABT treatment will be the Leon and the Formentor. While ABT already offers aftermarket packages for both models, Cupra will now add special ABT-customized versions to its lineup, starting in 2026.

The two models, which received an extensive facelift last year, will feature an ABT-designed bodykit and a new set of 21-inch alloy wheels enhancing their sporty stance. ABT’s exterior touches include a sharper front splitter, combined with matching side skirts and rear diffuser extensions, a larger rear spoiler, and ABT emblems.

Cupra Teams Up With ABT For Special Editions

The official announcement doesn’t mention any performance or chassis upgrades for the Leon and the Formentor, meaning that the ABT special edition models could be limited to aesthetics.

In any case, ABT’s aftermarket catalogue includes engine upgrade options, alongside stiffer suspension springs for improved handling.

More: The Next Cupra Leon Will Be EV Only

According to ABT, the Cupra Leon and Formentor are “just the start of a long-term collaboration over the coming years”. Another member of the lineup that will receive a similar treatment is the fully electric Cupra Raval, which is a twin to the upcoming VW ID.2.

Hans-Jürgen Abt, CEO of the ABT Group said: “Cupra and ABT have enjoyed an intensive and trusting partnership for many years, which is now being taken to a new level with this cooperation. We are happy to present a customized special edition of the Cupra Formentor and Leon that carries the ABT denomination.”

New MG4 Electric Hatch Draws Inspiration From Cyberster

  • The first-gen MG4 was a success, but its replacement is a significantly updated car.
  • The new EV is larger in all dimensions than its predecessor, with a longer wheelbase.
  • Power comes from a 161 hp electric motor, allowing for a top speed of 99 mph.

The MG4 was one of the first modern Chinese EVs to achieve international success. Not resting on its laurels, MG has been hard at work developing a new generation, and these photos provide us with our first look at it. The brand could have been excused for simply updating the hatch’s lights and bumpers before calling it a day, but it’s actually redesigned the whole car.

Local data reveals the new 4 is slightly larger than the model it replaces. It measures 4,395 mm (173 inches) long, 1,842 mm (72.5 inches) wide, and 1,551 mm (61 inches) tall, and has a 2,750 mm (108.2-inch) wheelbase. This makes it 108 mm (4.2 inches) longer, 6 mm (0.2 inches) wider, and 35 mm (1.3 inches) taller than the first-gen, while the wheelbase has grown by 45 mm (1.7 inches).

Read: MG Teases 4-Based MGS5 EV, European Brands Reach For The Xanax

The front of the new MG4 is nothing like the model it replaces. Whereas the current car favors sharp lines and aggressive edges, the new one is dominated by creases, curves, and has far fewer straight lines than the old one. There are new headlights, a different grille, new quarter panels, and a different hood.

MG’s designers have also crafted new door skins for the electric hatchback and, in these photos, it’s showcased with new 16- and 17-inch wheels. The rear end has also been transformed, and key highlights include a light bar, unique taillights, and a different bumper. The MG4’s taillights appear to have taken inspiration from the Cyberster and have lighting signatures in the shape of an arrow.

New MG4 Electric Hatch Draws Inspiration From Cyberster

Powering the new MG4 is a single electric motor with 161 hp (120 kW), enough to propel it to a 99 mph (160 km/h) top speed. By comparison, the old EV came with a 168 hp (125 kW) motor in base guise, but weighed 3,617 lbs (1,641 kg), whereas the new one tips the scales at just 3,237 lbs (1,485 kg). It seems likely that a dual-motor XPower version will also be introduced shortly.

While the current MG4 has become a common sight on roads in many countries, it’s fallen out of favor in China. Shortly after its launch in mid-2022, MG initially delivered more than 5,000 units each month, but sales have crashed since the start of 2023. In February, just 13 examples were sold in its home market.

Updated Opel Rocks Is A Mild Refresh Of The Citroen Ami Twin

  • Changes are limited to a black grille, a light grey body, and a white Opel Blitz emblem.
  • The lineup of the heavy quadricycle will soon grow with the new Edition and GS trims.

Opel has introduced a mildly updated version of the Rocks heavy quadricycle, with changes being purely cosmetic. However, as part of the refresh, the company is now adding two new trims to the lineup – the Edition and the GS.

The Opel Rocks – formerly known as the Rocks-e and later as the Rocks Electric – was introduced in 2021. The EV is basically the Opel version of the Citroen Ami and Fiat Topolino and a rival to Renault’s Mobilize Duo. As with all heavy quadricycles, it can be driven by teenagers as young as 15 years old in certain countries.

More: 2025 Citroen Ami Gets Funkier With Bulging Eyes And 2CV-Style Gills

While the Citroen Ami was subjected to a comprehensive retro-inspired facelift for 2025, Opel kept the old styling for the Rocks. Still, this is not necessarily bad, as each of Stellantis’ heavy quadricycle triplets now has its own distinct styling.

The only changes on the Rocks for 2025 are the black Opel Vizor grille, a light grey body with the omission of black graphics, and a white Opel Blitz emblem. Designers didn’t bother adding cooler lighting units from the one-off Rock E-Xtreme concept, but at least the headlights now have LED tech. Like its predecessor, the Rocks retains its symmetrical design and doors that open in opposite directions.

\\\\\\\\\\

The two-seater interior is carried over from the existing Rocks Electric, although Opel has abandoned the lime green accents in favor of a more conservative white and gray color scheme.

A smartphone holder and a dedicated application substitute the need for an infotainment display. Interior amenities are limited to a USB port, a standard panoramic roof, manual pull-up side windows, and clever storage solutions, but no A/C.

More: Fiat Topolino Gets A Cute Makeover For A Not-So-Cute $50,000

There are no changes on the underpinnings of the heavy quadricycle, that retains the 8 hp (6 kW / 8 PS) electric motor and the 5.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Opel claims that the driving range is up to 75 km (47 miles) between charges, while top speed is limited to 45 km/h (28 mph).

Opel has announced that the updated Rocks will be launched soon in Europe. Furthermore, the lineup will grow with the addition of the Rocks Edition and Rocks GS trims, set to be unveiled closer to the market launch. Opel usually reserves the GS emblem for sporty-looking versions of its models, so it will be interesting to see if it will bring any cool features to the Rocks.

British EV Startup Teases New Premium Compact Crossover For 2027

  • Perseus is a UK-based EV startup that will launch a compact crossover by late 2027.
  • The model will ride on a platform sourced from a European automaker, who will also provide maintenance.
  • An Italian engineering and design company will handle the styling and some of the development and testing.

The EV boom has not gone as expected for many companies and a number of them have gone belly up including Arrival, Canoo, and Fisker. However, electric vehicle sales are climbing and there’s a new entry in the form of Perseus.

The British-based company has emerged from “stealth mode” and is being led by a team of former senior executives from Bentley, Lotus, Ineos Automotive, and Jaguar Land Rover. They’re planning to launch a “performance and technology-focused compact SUV” by late 2027.

More: Ex-Tesla Alums Debut New Electric Roadster Named To Taunt Elon Musk

Set to compete in the premium segment, the Perseus SUV will be based on a “proven, state-of-the-art EV platform from a European OEM Group.” The company has also partnered with an Italian engineering and design firm to handle interior and exterior styling as well as development, prototyping, and testing. On top of that, the firm will be using a European contract manufacturer for production.

This is pretty smart as the company will use an existing platform as well as an established manufacturer. It also sounds like a lot of the work will be outsourced to a firm that specializes in vehicle design and development. This stands in stark contrast to the typical startup philosophy, where companies try to do everything themselves and burn through millions of dollars in the process.

British EV Startup Teases New Premium Compact Crossover For 2027

We can expect to learn more in the coming months, but the teaser image shows a sleek crossover with a Genesis-like vibe and slender headlights. They’re joined by a long hood, which flows into a rakish windscreen. Elsewhere, there’s an angular shoulder line and what looks like flush-mounted door handles.

Little else is known about the EV at this point, but Perseus says it will have an “inspirational and emotive design, groundbreaking technology, engaging performance, and exceptional user experience with compelling value.” We can also expect artificial intelligence and “exceptional personalization.”

British EV Startup Teases New Premium Compact Crossover For 2027

Perseus will embrace the direct-to-consumer sales model, which focuses on online sales and a handful of brand experience centers. The company will also lean on its automotive platform provider for a “European-wide service and maintenance network.”

Perseus Motor Corporation Founder and CEO Mohammed Yehya El Bakkali said, “The launch of Perseus marks an exciting new chapter in global automotive innovation. Our ambition is clear: to create a premium value British EV brand that delivers emotionally captivating design, cutting-edge performance and a best-in-class intelligent AI-enabled and software-defined customer experience.”

Xpeng’s New G6 Can Add 280 Miles Of Range In Just 10 Minutes

  • The new electric SUV is available with 68.5 kWh and 80.8 kWh battery packs.
  • Xpeng says it takes just 12 minutes to charge the G6 from 10-80%.
  • The flagship version can travel up to 450 miles (725 km) on a single charge.

The all-electric Xpeng G6 has only been available in certain markets for a couple of years now, and already, a heavily updated version has been launched in China. The 2025 G6 looks very similar to the model it replaces, but it brings several important upgrades that make it an even more compelling Tesla Model Y rival.

This year, all three versions of the G6 come equipped with new 5C ultra-fast charging batteries and an 800-volt electrical architecture. Xpeng says the batteries only need 12 minutes to be charged from 10-80% and that after being plugged in for just 10 minutes, the EV can get an impressive 280 miles (450 km) of charge.

Read: Xpeng’s G7 Is The Latest Flashy Electric SUV From China

Xpeng’s new batteries also perform better in cold conditions, taking a touch over 15 minutes to charge them from 10-80%, when it’s -30 degrees Celsius. New armor is wrapped around the battery pack and is reportedly capable of withstanding temperatures of up to 1000°C and can withstand up to 80 tons of pressure during side impacts.

While the Chinese brand hasn’t published details about the capacity of the available batteries, data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology indicates the 625 Long-Range Max Technology Edition and 625 Long-Range Max Ultimate Edition have a 68.5 kWh pack, while the flagship 725 Ultra-Long-Range Max Ultimate Edition has a 80.8 kWh pack. As you may have guessed, the ‘625’ models have 388 miles (625 km) of range, while the ‘725’ can travel 450 miles (725 km) on a single charge.

Xpeng’s New G6 Can Add 280 Miles Of Range In Just 10 Minutes

Powering all three models is a single electric motor at the rear wheels, producing 292 hp and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque. The 2025 Xpeng G6 can hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in a respectable 6.3 seconds and tops out at 125 mph (202 km/h).

All G6 models come with the Turing AI intelligent driving system that features several cameras, millimeter-wave radars, and ultrasonic radars. Two new colors have also been added to the range – Starry Purple and Cloud Beige.

Updates made to the cabin of the G6 include a 9-inch digital rearview mirror, and new front seats with heating, ventilation, and massage functions.

Chinese prices start at 176,800 yuan (~$24,400) for the base model, rise to 186,800 yuan (~$25,800) for the mid-range version, and top out at 198,800 yuan (~$27,500) for the flagship 725 model.

How Far Can A 46 kWh Battery Take You? BYD Says 292 Miles

  • The driving range of the new Seal 06 EV varies between 470 km and 545 km.
  • The base model has a 46.08 kWh battery pack, while the flagship has a 56.6 kWh unit.
  • The small battery pack has allowed BYD to keep the car’s weight down.

BYD’s Ocean series continues to grow and will soon include a new EV, known as the Seal 06. The Chinese car manufacturer already sells a hybrid version of this same model, but this new electric variant is arguably even more important for the brand. Pricing and available details have yet to be confirmed.

Unlike many other electric sedans on the market, BYD has not installed a massive battery pack in the Seal 06 EV to try and eke out as much range as possible. Chinese data reveals the base model only has a small 46.08 kWh battery pack, which is only a tiny bit larger than the 45 kWh battery offered in the small BYD Dolphin hatchback. Meanwhile, the flagship Seal 06 EV features a larger 56.6 kWh pack, which is still relatively small.

Read: BYD Wants To Work With Tesla To Shift Industry To EVs

Models equipped with the 46.08 kWh pack offer a quoted range of 292 miles (470 km), while the 56.6 kWh option boosts that figure to 339 miles (545 km) on the CLTC cycle. While the relatively small battery pack does somewhat limit the driving range of the EV, the upside is that the packs weigh in at just 772 lbs (350 kg) and 904 lbs (410 kg) each, meaning the car’s curb weight varies between 1,670 kg – 1,800 kg (3,682 lb – 3,968 lb). That’s still plenty of heft, but it is relatively light for an electric sedan of this size.

The sedan is 4,720 mm (185.8 inches) long, 1,880 mm (74 inches) wide, and stands 1,495 mm (58.8 inches) tall with a 2,820 mm (111-inch) wheelbase. By comparison, the regular Seal introduced a couple of years ago and sold internationally is 4,800 mm (189 inches) long, 1,875 mm (73.8 inches) wide, and 1,460 mm (57.4 inches) tall, with a larger 2,920 mm (115-inch) wheelbase.

Visually, the Seal 06 EV looks very similar to the DM-i plug-in hybrid model, with a few refinements taking on the front fascia. It also has similar taillights and a rear light bar to that model, as well as the BYD Seal 06 GT hatchback.

Starry But Soulless 2026 Mercedes CLA Leans On AI And Electric Power

  • Mercedes has introduced the third-gen CLA, which will offer hybrid and electric powertrains.
  • The electric versions offer up to 349 hp as well as WLTP ranges between 418 and 492 miles.
  • The exterior design is evolutionary, but the cabin goes for a minimalist aesthetic heavy on screens.

The Mercedes CLA helped pioneer the affordable four-door coupe and now the model is entering its third-generation. While the design isn’t too much of a departure, this isn’t your father’s CLA.

That’s immediately apparent as the new electric variants have a ‘radiant face panel’ that replaces the traditional single bar grille. It features an illuminated star emblem as well as 142 individually lit mini stars.

More: Mercedes Teases Baby G-Class, Electric E-Class, And More

Buyers will also find sweptback headlights that are connected by a thin illuminated strip. LED headlights are standard, but the optional Multibeam LED headlights are notable for having a daytime running light signature in the form of the Mercedes-Benz star.

While the front end will likely prove divisive, the rest of the car is more familiar. It features streamlined bodywork, available flush-mounted door handles, and a class-leading drag coefficient starting at 0.21.

Elsewhere, designers installed starry taillights and aerodynamically optimized wheels ranging in sizes from 17- to 19-inches. Customers will also find a host of options including AMG Line, AMG Line Plus, and Night packages.

As with most new vehicles, the Mercedes CLA has grown in size. The model now measures 185.9 inches (4,722 mm) long, which is an increase of 1.6 inches (41 mm). Wheelbase is up 2.4 inches (61 mm) to 109.8 inches (2,789 mm) and this provides a tad more front legroom. However, the already tight rear seat sees legroom decline to 33.6 inches (853 mm).

A Soulless Interior Focused On Screens And AI

\\\\\\

Remember how cool and revolutionary the interior of the original Mercedes CLS was? Its elegant mix of flowing wood trim and stylish leather was unforgettable.

Compare that to the new CLA and it looks like a soulless transportation pod. Mercedes went for a minimalist design and it’s not terribly remarkable other than the available MBUX Superscreen, which consists of a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14-inch infotainment system, and a 14-inch front passenger display. Customers who don’t pony up the extra dough will be treated to a “trim element with a star pattern graphic” to remind them of their cheapness.

We’ll learn full equipment details closer to launch, but Mercedes said all models will come equipped with a leather-wrapped sport steering wheel, heated power fronts seats, a panoramic fixed glass roof, and a single-zone climate control system. Customers will also find brushed aluminum, open-pore wood, or “Gold Anthracite anodized look” trim.

Starry But Soulless 2026 Mercedes CLA Leans On AI And Electric Power

While legroom is a mixed bag, Mercedes noted the CLA EV has a frunk that holds 2.5 cubic feet (71 liters) of cargo. That’s on top of the trunk’s 14.3 cubic feet (405 liters) of luggage space.

Getting back to screens, the CLA runs the all-new Mercedes-Benz Operating System. It’s essentially the fourth-generation of the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system and uses artificial intelligence from both Microsoft and Google.

Mercedes repeatedly hammered the AI point home and noted customers will find a new MBUX Virtual Assistant that “transforms the relationship between vehicle and driver” thanks to generative AI. This assistant is billed as a “living avatar” that takes the form of a Mercedes star.

Speaking of AI, the system uses ChatGPT4o and Microsoft Bing as well as Google Gemini. The latter focuses on navigation-related questions and this is because the CLA’s “navigation experience is based on Google Maps.”

Two Electric Powertrains At Launch, Hybrids To Follow

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

At launch, there will be two electric variants known as the CLA 250+ with EQ Technology and the CLA 350 4MATIC with EQ Technology. While both have terrible names, the CLA 250+ has a rear-mounted motor developing 268 hp (200 kW / 272 PS) and 247 lb-ft (335 Nm) of torque. This enables the model to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in approximately 6.6 seconds, before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 130 mph (209 km/h). Customers can also expect a WLTP range of 431-492 miles (694-792 km).

The CLA 350 4MATIC with EQ Technology is positioned as a performance variant and it has a dual-motor all-wheel drive system producing a combined output of 349 hp (260 kW / 354 PS) and 380 lb-ft (515 Nm) of torque. Thanks to the extra oomph and traction, 60 mph (96 km/h) comes in 4.8 seconds. While the top speed remains unchanged, the range drops to 418-479 miles (672-771 km).

Starry But Soulless 2026 Mercedes CLA Leans On AI And Electric Power

Both have an 85 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and an 800-volt electric architecture that allows for a DC fast charging capability of up to 320 kW. This means a ten minute charge can provide up to 202 miles (325 km) of range.

The EVs will be followed by a hybrid variant as Mercedes customers aren’t ready to go fully electric. The automaker didn’t say much about it, but confirmed there will be two outputs as well as front- and all-wheel drive. The models will have a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine, a 1.3 kWh battery, 48-volt technology, and an electric motor that is integrated into an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Toyota bZ4X Gets New Batteries, More Power, And Better Range

  • The 2026 bZ4X can be optioned with a new 57.7 kWh battery or a 73.1 kWh unit.
  • Driving the top-spec model are two electric motors with a combined 338 hp (252 kW).
  • Toyota has also doubled the electric SUV’s towing capacity to 3,306 lbs (1,500 kg).

The Toyota bZ4X was supposed to be the brand’s answer to the Tesla Model Y, and the slew of other similarly-sized electric SUVs on the market, but it’s never really taken off the way Toyota would have hoped (although sales did double last year in the US). Not dissuaded by this, Toyota has updated it for the 2026 model year in Europe, and it promises to be better in all areas. This new model will also be available in the US.

The most significant changes come on the battery front. New to the bZ4X range is an entry-level 57.7 kWh battery pack. This lithium-ion pack is the same one available in the new C-HR+ and available exclusively in the base front-wheel drive model. This version has a 165 hp (123 kW) electric motor and promises a WLTP range of 276 miles (445 km).

Two other versions of the bZ4X have been announced, both with a new 73.1 kWh battery pack. The lesser of these models packs 221 hp (165 kW) and can travel 356 miles (573 km) on a charge, while the flagship all-wheel drive model has 338 hp (252 kW) and a quoted range of 323 miles (520 km). Perhaps most impressive is that this version needs just 5.1 seconds to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) – not bad for an unassuming Toyota SUV.

Toyota says it’s improved the energy density of both packs and also increased the number of cells used in each. Improvements have also been made to the electric motors and they now include silicon carbide semiconductors.

Charging Improvements

Several other improvements have been made. For example, the new bZ4X comes equipped with battery pre-conditioning that will allow for more efficient high-speed charging in cold conditions. The onboard AC charger on high-spec models now sports 22 kW, rather than 11 kW, but peak DC charging speed remains capped at 150 kW, which is less than some of the competition. Toyota is aiming for a 10-80% charge in approximately 30 minutes. Shoppers will also be pleased to hear the bZ4X’s towing capacity has been doubled to 3,306 lbs (1,500 kg).

Few changes have been made to the exterior of the EV, other than some minor tweaks to improve aerodynamics at the front end. Plenty of alterations have been made to the cabin. Key upgrades include a simplified digital instrument cluster and a new 14-inch screen that ditches the separate climate control switches of the old model.

Toyota’s New C-HR+ EV May Launch In The US Next Year

  • European versions of the C-HR+ will be offered with 57.7 kWh and 77 kWh battery packs.
  • The design of the new electric SUV bears a resemblance to the existing C-HR.
  • A dual-motor version of the Toyota C-HR+ delivers an impressive 338 hp.

Toyota has added a new EV to its range, and it’s one that no one really saw coming. Dubbed the C-HR+, it’s similar in name to the existing C-HR sold in international markets, but it is bigger and is expected to be sold in the United States next year. So far, it’s only been announced in European specification and slots below the larger bZ4X in the Toyota family.

Despite what the name of the C-HR+ might have you believe, it is not based on the gas-powered C-HR, and, instead, has the same e-TNGA 2.0 platform as the bZ4X. Unlike that model that’s often panned for its weird looks, the C-HR+ is much sleeker and more refined. Whether or not that helps it sell better than the bZ4X remains to be seen, but it’s a good start.

Read: 2025 Toyota bZ4X Gets $6,000 Price Cut, New Nightshade Edition

The new Toyota C-HR+ sits on a 108.2-inch (2,750 mm) wheelbase, exactly four inches shorter than the wheelbase of the bZ4X. The brand says the C-HR+ is more catered towards singles and couples, whereas the bZ4X is a family car. As developing and building new EVs from scratch is very costly, Toyota is using similar powertrain options to the bZ4X.

Toyota’s New C-HR+ EV May Launch In The US Next Year

Base models in Europe will feature a 57.7 kWh battery pack and a single electric motor driving the front wheels, delivering 165 hp (123 kW). Toyota says this model will be good for 283 miles (455 km) of range on the WLTP cycle and can hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in a respectable 8.6 seconds. A more powerful FWD version with a 77 kWh pack has also been announced, kicking out 221 hp (165 kW) and boasting 373 miles (600 km) of range while dropping its 0-62 mph sprint time to 7.4 seconds.

Sitting at the top of the C-HR+ family will be a twin-motor, all-wheel drive model with 338 hp (252 kW), a 77 kWh battery pack, and a 0-62 mph time of 5.2 seconds. This model has a claimed range of 326 miles (525 km).

The Electric Toyota Americans Have Been Waiting For?

Toyota has not confirmed if the C-HR+ will be sold in the US, and in a statement issued to Carscoops, simply said, “We have no U.S. product announcements at this time.” However, offering the C-HR+ locally will help the brand meet the Advanced Clean Car II sales regulations in six states that’ll go into effect for the 2026MY.

2026 Lexus RZ Gets Yoked Steer-By-Wire And Simulated Gears

  • Lexus will sell the new RZ in RZ 350e, RZ 500e, and RZ 550e F Sport trims in Europe.
  • It now features simulated gears and synthetic ‘engine’ sounds for added engagement.
  • The brand has yet to announce specifications for the refreshed North American model.

Lexus has been developing a steer-by-wire system for several years now, but rather than rushing it to the market, has taken its sweet time to perfect it. It appears that’s exactly what it’s done with the facelifted 2026 Lexus RZ, confirming it will launch with steer-by-wire. The updated model also premieres with simulated gear shifts, that promise to make the driving experience a little more engaging.

Read: 2025 Lexus RZ Price Drops $11k, Now Cheaper Than A Toyota bZ4X

So far, the Japanese brand has only released European specifications for the 2026 RZ, with details for the North American model still pending. The base model is known as the RZ 350e and features a single electric motor at the front axle with 224 hp (167 kW) and 198 lb-ft (269 Nm) of torque. A 77 kWh battery pack comes standard across the range, with Lexus estimating a driving range of up to 357 miles (575 km) for the RZ 350e.

Performance Variants

A pair of more performance-focused variants have also been announced. The first is badged the RZ 500e and packs two electric motors that combine to deliver 375 hp (280 kW), propelling it to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.6 seconds. This model has an estimated range of 311 miles (500 km).

New to the range for the 2026 model year is the RZ 550e F Sport, which produces 402 hp (300 kW) and accelerates to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds. As expected, the increased performance comes at the expense of range, which drops to 280 miles (450 km).

Steer-by-Wire

Perhaps the biggest headline of the 2026 RZ is that it now comes with a complete steer-by-wire system. We tested a prototype of this system back in 2023, and it’s now ready for prime time. The system is paired with a yoke steering wheel and features variable steering ratios, with no physical connection between the yoke and the front wheels.

\\\\\\\\\\\

Simulated Gears

Lexus also appears to have taken inspiration from Hyundai and Kia by implementing a synthetic shifting system into the new RZ. Lexus calls this system the Interactive Manual Drive, and it has been paired with simulated engine sounds. According to the brand, this setup “delivers a sportier, more responsive driving feel, offering greater engagement and driving pleasure.” We’ll have to see about that when we get a chance to drive the new RZ.

Market-specific pricing details for the 2026 RZ have not been confirmed. The US version should be announced in the not-too-distant future.

You Can Buy A New 470 HP Family Car That Out-Runs Most Sports Cars For $32K

  • The Tesla Model Y remains one of the world’s most popular cars for many reasons.
  • In some states, it’s already relatively low price gets even better thanks to incentives.
  • The Performance, available for as little as $32,000, hits 60 mph in around 3.5 seconds.

Tesla is currently transitioning to its updated Model Y Juniper, but for now, the $59,990 Limited Edition of the refreshed crossover is the only option available in the United States. However, many pre-facelift models are lingering in stock, including several of the top-tier Model Y Performance trims. To clear out this inventory, Tesla is offering some huge discounts, and the deals are surprisingly good. In fact, in some states with additional incentives, you can snag one for under $33,000.

More: We Compare The 2026 Tesla Model Y Juniper Side-By-Side With Its Predecessor

Before you click “Buy,” keep in mind that the updated Model Y offers several key improvements over the first generation. Beyond cosmetic changes like a new front and rear design, it features reduced noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH), a revamped suspension to address earlier complaints, and upgraded interior materials. Plus, a new Model Y Performance version is on the way.

Looking at Europe and China, where the standard versions of the new Model Y Juniper are already available, we expect the updated version to launch in the next month or so at a similar price point (without any discounts in the beginning) to the current model. Something to consider if you’re eyeing the older model.

Nearly $20,000 Off—With Some Catch

Right now, the brand has several Model Y Performance examples in stock and these aren’t cars that have been sitting around for a year or more. Most are 2025 model year cars and Tesla has hacked up to $8,000 off the price in some cases.

Stack on that the $7,500 federal tax credit and additional discounts available in states like Colorado ($3,850), Illinois ($4,000), New Jersey ($2,000), Vermont ($2,500), Massachusetts ($3,500) and others, and you’re looking at just shy of $20,000 off the MSRP of $51,490. That means this car can be yours for less than $33,000 before taxes and delivery fees, an absolute steal. Plus, with Tesla’s direct-sales model, there’s no haggling—just a simple press of a button.

To put that into perspective, that’s around the price of a near-base compact SUV. For example, the base 2025 Subaru Forester starts at $29,995, with the next trim, the Premium, starting at $32,310.

Tesla

Keep in mind that Tesla’s Model Y Performance, believed to produce around 470 hp, can rocket from 0-60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.5 seconds with a rollout. That’s quicker than a new Ford Mustang Dark Horse, a Toyota Supra, a Porsche 911 Carrera and only 0.1 seconds slower than the Aston Martin Vantage. We’re talking about bonafide speed at what is essentially the price of a base Honda CR-V. There’s little question which is more fun to drive.

Not Just Speed. It’s Practical, Too

At the same time, it’s not as if this is some one-trick pony. The Model Y Performance offers a claimed 277 miles of range, five seats (or optionally seven for two very small kids), up to 76 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded down. That’s as much space for gear as some three-row SUVs. Furthermore, it also comes with a solid list of standard kit, including vegan leather, 21-inch wheels, and a full safety suite.

Of course, all of this comes with a caveat. Right now, anything related to Tesla—whether it’s owners, stores, or Supercharger stations—is under fire from several directions. To be clear, none of this is the fault of the owners, but it’s still something to keep in mind. At least, in this case, they can outrun just about anyone who might try to chase them down to slap a sticker on their car.

Honda S7 Is A $36,000 Electric SUV That’s Not For US

  • The new Honda S7 competes against the Tesla Model Y, Onvo L60, and Zeekr 7X.
  • Two versions are offered, both with 89.8 kWh battery packs and up to 404 miles of range.
  • The base model has a single electric motor, while the flagship dual-motor delivers 469 hp.

It’s been eight months since Honda previewed its China-only Ye S7, and now the production version has officially arrived. As the Japanese brand continues its push upmarket in various regions, this all-electric SUV doesn’t try to compete with the bargain-bin electric crossovers flooding the market. Instead, it’s aiming for something a bit more premium, but still relatively affordable, at least by American standards. The S7 starts at ¥259,900, which comes to about $35,800.

More: Toyota’s $15,000 Electric SUV Gets 10,000 Orders In Just 60 Minutes In China

Interestingly, the production model has dropped the ‘Ye’ from its name and is simply called the S7. It’s no Lamborghini Urus, but for a Honda, it’s a surprisingly daring design. In fact, it stands out in a way that no other Honda sold in markets outside of China does, which will help it cut through the noise of China’s crowded car market. The S7 is the product of Honda’s joint venture with Dongfeng and is set to compete with the likes of the Tesla Model Y, the Onvo L60, and the Zeekr 7X.

Powertrains and Range Options

At its core, the S7 is built on a dedicated EV platform and comes equipped with an 89.8 kWh battery pack. The base model features a single electric motor that delivers a modest 268 horsepower (200 kW) to the rear wheels. While not exactly thrilling, that output should be more than enough for everyday driving, and the more affordable variant has a claimed range of 404 miles (650 km) on the Chinese CLTC cycle.

For those craving more performance, there’s a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive version. This ups the ante by adding a 201-horsepower (150 kW) motor to the front axle, pushing total output to a more impressive 469 hp (350 kW). While that extra power and weight decrease the range to 385 miles (620 km), it’s still more than sufficient for most drivers.

In terms of dimensions, the S7 is 4,750 mm (187.0 inches) long, 1,930 mm (75.98 inches) wide, and 1,625 mm (64.02 inches) tall, riding on a relatively large 2,930 mm (115.4 inches) wheelbase, with a minimum ground clearance of 193 mm (7.6 inches). This puts the S7 in the range of your average compact SUV for exterior dimensions, but with a wheelbase that’s closer to, or even longer than, that of many mid-size SUVs. For comparison, the Honda Pilot has a shorter 113.8-inch (2,891 mm) wheelbase.

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

Inside, the S7 leans heavily into tech and luxury. The centerpiece is a 12.8-inch portrait-oriented infotainment screen perched in the center of the dashboard. Just ahead of the driver, there’s a 9.9-inch digital instrument cluster, and gone are the traditional wing mirrors, replaced by cameras and screens mounted on the doors.

The cabin of the electric Honda also features twin glass roof panels for that open, airy feel, and if you’re an audiophile, you can opt for a 16-speaker Bose sound system with speakers in the front headrests. While the luxury touches are nice, they’re not exactly groundbreaking, but they should appeal to buyers looking for something a bit more refined in the electric SUV space.

Toyota’s Cheapest EV Ever Costs $15,000, Gets 10,000 Orders In 60 Minutes

  • The electric SUV is a little larger than a BYD Atto 3 and offered with three different battery packs.
  • Entry-level and mid-range models have a motor with 204 hp, while the flagship delivers 224 hp.
  • Toyota sells two models equipped with an advanced driver-assistance system powered by Nvidia.

China is quickly establishing itself as the global epicenter for affordable electric vehicles, and for good reason. However, most of the budget-friendly EVs have come from homegrown brands that have been able to work around the traditional constraints that have slowed down legacy automakers.

But now, even Toyota, a legacy company that’s been criticized for its sluggishness in adopting electric vehicles, is jumping into the fray with a shockingly low starting price in the Chinese market, especially considering its size and features.

See: Everything We Know About The 2026 Toyota RAV4

The vehicle in question is the bZ3X and it’s been brought to life thanks to Toyota’s joint venture with GAC. It was first presented in December, but sales of it only just started. It’s proven to be so popular that more than 10,000 orders were placed for it within an hour, causing the system to crash. Looking at what shoppers will be getting for their money, it’s easy to understand why the bZ3X is so red hot.

Pricing Details

Prices for the electric SUV start at 109,800 yuan, or roughly $15,000 at current exchange rates. Considering the compact SUV’s size and features, that’s an incredibly competitive price. For context, the GAC Toyota Highlander, similar to the one sold in North America, starts at 284,800 yuan ($39,300), while the Camry starts at 171,800 yuan ($23,700).

At that price, you’re getting the base version of the bZ3X, called the 430 Air. It comes with a 50.03 kWh LFP battery pack. While that’s on the smaller side for an SUV of this size, Toyota claims it’s good for 267 miles (430 km) of range on the CTLC cycle. However, since China’s testing cycle tends to be extremely generous, the real-world range will likely be closer to 250 miles (402 km). If you’re looking for a bit more equipment, there’s also a slightly upgraded 430 Air+ version available, starting at 119,800 yuan (~$16,500).

Toyota will also offer the bZ3X in 520 Pro (¥120,980 / ~$16,700) and 520 Pro+ (¥139,800 / ~$19,300) guises, both of which use a larger 58.37 kWh battery and have a quoted range of 323 miles (520 km). All 430 and 520 models feature a single 204 hp electric motor. The version offering the most range is the 610 Max, rocking a 67.92 kWh pack and good for 379 miles (610 km) on a charge. It also has a more powerful 224 hp motor. It starts at ¥159,800 (~$22,000)

\\\\\\\\

Two versions of the 520 Pro offering advanced driver-assistance systems have also been announced, priced at ¥149,800 (~$20,700) and ¥159,800 (~$22,000), respectively. These models include 11 cameras, 12 ultrasonic radars, 3mm wave radars, and one LiDAR, all powered by the Nvidia Drive AGX Orin X.

The cabin of the bZ3X certainly isn’t super-luxurious as far as Chinese-built EVs go, but it does look decent. It features a 14.6-inch infotainment display, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, and an 11-speaker Yamaha audio system, all fitted as standard.

The SUV itself measures 4,600 mm (181.1 inches) in length, 1,875 mm (73.8 inches) in width, and 1,645 mm (64.7 inches) in height, with a wheelbase of 2,765 mm (108.8 inches), meaning it’s roughly the same size as a RAV4 It weighs in at 1,835 kg (4,045 lbs), which is fairly typical for this type of electric vehicle.

Toyota’s latest EV measures 4,600 mm (181.1 inches) in length, 1,875 mm (73.8 inches) in width, and 1,645 mm (64.7 inches) in height, with a wheelbase of 2,765 mm (108.8 inches). It tips the scales at 1,835 kg (4,045 lbs).

Volvo ES90 Takes On BMW i5 With More Style And Range

  • Volvo has unveiled its ES90 midsize electric liftback sedan.
  • Top versions get 671 hp and can reach 62 mph in 4 seconds.
  • The bigger 102 kWh available battery can cover 435 miles.

Volvo is best known for its SUVs these days, but this week it revealed the ES90, showing that its electric tech can works just as well, and look even more stylish, in a traditional midsize sedan.

Designed to take on the BMW i5 and Mercedes EQE among other options, the 5m-long (196.9 inches) ES90 arguably looks far better than both, with a strong chin, clean surfaces and a sporty fastback shape. Though it presents as a sedan, it has a practical liftback – but comes up short on trunk space next to the BMW.

Related: Volvo Still Not Sure If It Should Build An Electric Estate

Where it shouldn’t come up short is in interior room, particularly for those in the back. The 3.1 mm (122.1 inches) wheelbase is more than 100 mm (4 inches) longer than the BMW’s, and the Volvo also wins the range war.

While the leggiest i5 can only return 356 miles (573 km) on a full charge of its 81 kWh battery, the rangiest ES90’s 102 kWh power pack can take it 435 miles (700 km) in one go. Dual-motor versions get the larger battery and single-motor models make do with a smaller 88 kWh unit that can still deliver 404 miles (650 km) before needing a top-up.

Charging? No Problem

Unlike the EX90 SUV, the ES90 has 800-volt electrics, can handle 350 kW inputs (the i5 only takes 250 kW) and add 186 miles (300 km) of range in 10 minutes. A small frunk provides space for cable storage, again something the i5 doesn’t offer.

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

The lineup start with the 328 hp (333 PS / 245 kW) Single Motor Extended Range, which costs £69,650 in the UK and can reach 62 mph (100 kmh) in 6.9 seconds. A 443 hp (449 PS / 330 kW) Twin Motor drops the 62 time to 5.5 seconds for £83,250, but for only £4,600 more the the flagship Twin Motor Performance provides 671 hp (680 PS / 500 kW) and does the run in 4.0 seconds flat. All three are limited to 112 mph (180 kmh).

A High-Tech Cabin

Inside, the ES90 features a 9.0-inch digital instrument tablet, a large 14.5-inch portrait touchscreen with built-in Google tech and light-colored Scandi decor and materials to maximize the sense of space. The sedans come equipped with Lidar for autonomous semi-driving prominently mounted above the windshield, but it won’t be functional until later in the model’s life.

2026 Cadillac Escalade IQL Is Long, Really Long

  • Cadillac has introduced the 2026 Escalade IQL, which is 4.2 inches longer than the standard model.
  • While a lot carries over, the luxury SUV has unique rear pillars and a more upright rear window.
  • Sporting a dual-motor all-wheel drive system with 750 hp, the IQL can travel 460 miles on a charge.

The Cadillac Escalade lineup is growing literally and figuratively as the American luxury brand has unveiled the 2026 Escalade IQL. It’s a stretched version of the large electric SUV and pricing starts at $132,695.

Costing thousands more than the regular model, the Escalade IQL follows in the footsteps of the standard EV but spans an additional 4.2 inches (107 mm). At 228.5 inches (5,803 mm) overall, it’s 1.5 inches (38 mm) longer than the gas-powered Escalade ESV (227 inches / 5,766 mm), making it one of the longest production vehicles on the market. Since the wheelbase remains unchanged at 136.2 inches (3,460 mm), most of the added room benefits third-row passengers

More: 2025 Cadillac Escalade Gets A Jaw-Dropping Interior With 55-Inch Display

This promises to make the power folding third-row adult-friendly as legroom climbs from 32.3 inches (820 mm) to 36.7 inches (932 mm). Rear seat occupants will also find an extra inch (25 mm) of headroom. If you’re more interested in hauling cargo, you’ll find up to 125.2 cubic feet (3,546 liters) of room behind the first row. That’s up from 119.2 cubic feet (3,375 liters) in the standard model.

2026 Cadillac Escalade IQL Is Long, Really Long
The standard Cadillac Escalade IQ above and the longer IQL below.

The Usual Escalade Interior Charm, With a Few Twists

Aside from the extra length, it’s pretty much a typical Escalade IQ. However, the C- and D-pillar treatment is unique to the IQL and customers will find more expansive third-quarter glass. The rear liftgate also appears more upright as it eschews the angular design found on the regular model.

While there are a surprising number of styling changes, the front end carries over and the SUV rides on massive 24-inch wheels. The model is also notable for featuring an eTrunk, which can hold an additional 12.2 cubic feet (345 liters) of luggage.

\\\\\

Interior changes are less dramatic as there will be Luxury, Sport, Premium Luxury, and Premium Sport trims with their usual equipment. Cadillac didn’t go into many specifics, but noted drivers will find Super Cruise, a 21-speaker AKG Studio audio system, and an expansive 55-inch pillar-to-pillar display. They should be joined by heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, and a heated steering wheel. Other niceties should include a wireless smartphone charger, a five-zone climate control system, and an LED ambient lighting system.

Those getting chauffeured will want to opt for the available Executive Second Row package. It features two heated, ventilated, and massaging power seats that are separated by a console with stowable tray tables, a rear command center, and dual wireless phone charging pads. The package also includes dual 12.6-inch displays to keep passengers entertained.

Power and Range: It’s Got Plenty of Both

Power comes from a 205 kWh battery pack, which feeds a dual-motor all-wheel drive system producing up to 750 hp (559 kW /  760 PS) and 785 lb-ft (1,063 Nm) of torque. This enables the luxury barge to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 4.7 seconds and travel an estimated 460 miles (740 km) on a single charge.

2026 Cadillac Escalade IQL Is Long, Really Long

When the battery is low, a DC fast charger can deliver up to 116 miles (187 km) of range in as little as 10 minutes. With a 19.2 kW AC charger, expect to get about 36 miles (58 km) of range per hour.

Production is slated to begin towards the middle of the year and Cadillac noted the model should be able to tow up to 7,500 lbs (3,402 kg). Customers can also look forward to an Air Ride Adaptive suspension, Magnetic Ride Control 4.0, and a vehicle-to-home bidirectional charging capability.

GAC Aion UT EV Starts At $9,600, Packs Up To 260 Miles Of Range

  • The BYD Dolphin rival uses a 134 hp electric motor and 34-44 kWh battery packs.
  • The flagship model offers up to 260 miles (420 km) of range on a single charge.
  • It features a 14.6-inch infotainment screen and a Level 2 driver-assist system.

When the GAC Aion UT was officially unveiled last November, expectations were modest, if not downright skeptical. After all, it’s entering a crowded market where established players like BYD and MG have already set the bar for affordable EVs. But surprise, surprise: not only is the Aion UT here, but it’s also cheaper than we thought.

Originally pegged to start around $13,800 in China, this little electric contender can now be had for as low as ¥69,800 (about $9,600 at current exchange rates), with the top-spec model ringing in at ¥101,800 (~$14,000). If you’re keeping track, that’s well below the price of many used cars, let alone a brand-new EV.

Given the car’s low price, one may expect it to be void of any creature comforts, offer no performance, and have a very limited range. But as Chinese automakers have consistently shown in recent years, they’ve mastered the art of packing affordable EVs with decent range and technology features. In the case of the Aion UT, it will be offered with 34.8 kWh and 44 kWh battery packs, the latter of which is offered in 44.257 kWh, 44.12 kWh, and 44.133 kWh configurations.

GAC claims the car can cover up to 205 miles (330 km) on a single charge in base trim and up to 260 miles (420 km) in the flagship version. While China’s testing cycle tends to be quite generous, to say the least, GAC cites a combined consumption rate of 11.4 kWh/100 km. The battery packs charge from 30% to 80% in as little as 24 minutes, and power is supplied by a 134-hp electric motor.

The design of the Aion UT could be best described as cute. It’s available in a range of vibrant colors paired with contrasting white roofs, giving it a playful, almost cheerful vibe. The front end features soft, rounded headlights with integrated LED DRLs, plus four extra LED driving lights on the bumper—reminiscent of those old Kia Cerato models that tried too hard but kind of nailed it. The base version comes with 16-inch wheels, though higher-spec trims will step up to 17-inch alloys.

The cabin is impressively equipped, considering the car’s price point. All Aion UT models come standard with an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.6-inch infotainment screen, and a voice assistant. It also includes Level 2 driver-assistance capabilities, in-built WiFi, a panoramic sunroof, and supports over-the-air software updates.
