We Imagined Stellantis’ Tiny EV As Jeep, Dodge, And Chrysler Oddballs

Americans aren’t exactly spoiled for choice when it comes to pint-sized urban runabouts. Those Kei cars from Japan that caught Donald Trump’s attention recently are off-limits, and Europe’s laughably compact quadricycles are considered too tiny to share the road with trucks and SUVs.

Still, Stellantis seems ready to test the limits of what American drivers will accept, choosing to bring over the Fiat Topolino, a vehicle so small, it makes the already diminutive 500 look like a family hauler.

To give you a sense of scale, the Topolino measures just 2.53 meters long (99.6 inches), making it seven inches shorter than the already tiny Smart Fortwo. That car, if you remember, looked like a Little Tikes Cozy Coupe next to your average truck.

Stellantis has been dabbling in the heavy quadricycle category since 2020, starting with the Citroen Ami, followed by the Opel Rocks Electric in 2021, and most recently the Fiat Topolino in 2023. All three share the same platform, and all three are designed with urban mobility in mind rather than highway cruising.

That got us wondering: what if this squat little EV were rebadged as a Dodge, Chrysler, or Jeep? Would American buyers warm up to it with a familiar name on the front?

Officially, Stellantis has no plans to expand the model lineup in North America. But given how freely these micro-EVs swap badges in Europe, it’s not much of a leap to imagine a domestic version. Maybe if it wore the right logo, this pocket-sized commuter could stand a better chance on American streets.

So we sketched out a few ideas: what would it look like if Dodge, Jeep, and Chrysler each took a swing at the format?

Based on the rugged Citroen Ami Buggy – more specifically, the Rip Curl concept with grippy tires, an LED roof bar, frame doors, and other accessories – the Jeep version was an easy win.

Using the Citroen Ami Buggy as a starting point, and specifically, the Rip Curl edition with its chunky tires, roof-mounted LEDs, and open-air doors, we imagined a Jeep-branded version that leans fully into rugged charm.

The reworked front fascia includes a five-slot grille (sorry folks, room constraints nixed the full seven), with circular Wrangler-style LED headlights and Jeep-branded alloys. Matte plastic panels and a spartan cabin keep it functional, while the aesthetic reads more off-road pit crew than farmer’s market errand runner.

No, it wouldn’t come with Trail Rated credentials, but the TrailBug could still inject some Jeep attitude into cul-de-sac crawls and campground loops.

Our Dodge concept starts from the Opel Rocks Electric but pushes it in a more aggressive direction. The front gains a retro-style Cross Hair grille and a sharper lower bumper design.

Other touches pull directly from the brand’s muscle playbook, including Challenger-inspired quad headlights, Charger Daytona wheels, and a red paint scheme with full-length black stripes.

Chrysler AeroMini: A Retro Armchair On Wheels

The Chrysler version stays closest to the Fiat Topolino, as the retro aesthetic works great regardless of badge. We added a Chrysler wing emblem up front, U.S.-spec yellow indicators, chrome disc wheels, whitewall tires, and vintage mirrors.

The result is part mid-century cruiser, part bubble car. Its glossy navy finish paired with satin silver accents looks more like something from an airport lounge in 1958 than a modern EV.

As with their European siblings, all three of our fictional variants would share the same EV drivetrain and hardware underneath.

A single electric motor puts out 8 hp (6 kW / 8 PS), drawing power from a 5.4 kWh battery that offers up to 46 miles (75 km) of range. Hardly numbers that will worry Tesla, but then again, this thing looks more like a powered shopping cart than a proper car , and it performs accordingly.

In the US, these would likely fall into the “Neighborhood Electric Vehicle” category. They’re legal on certain public roads, but only at low speeds. European regulations follow a similar pattern, as under the L6e quadricycle class, models like this are capped at 28 mph and must weigh under 425 kg (without the battery).

So, from our imaginary garage, which of the three would you bring home? Would you take the Jeep TrailBug with its post-apocalyptic vibe, the sporty Dodge Lil’ Demon, or the Chrysler AeroMini channeling the Eisenhower era? Let us know which one you’d most like to wheel down the block.

There was a time when Europe’s roads were dotted with compact and subcompact minivans, purpose-built to juggle space, versatility, and daily practicality. That era faded fast once SUVs rolled in and pushed the category toward near extinction. But Citroen isn’t quite ready to let the minivan disappear quietly into the past.

The French automaker has unveiled the Citroen ELO, a concept it calls a “laboratory of ideas,” blending a boxy, unmistakably van-like silhouette with a modular six-seat cabin that is, by all accounts, very orange.

While not a direct preview of an upcoming production vehicle, the ELO hints at where Citroen’s design language may be heading, and perhaps at how the brand still sees a future for vehicles shaped around utility rather than what sells fashion.

The name of the concept originates from the words rEst, pLay, and wOrk, communicating some of its use case scenarios. Measuring 4.10 m (161.4 inches) long, it is about the same size with the discontinued C3 Picasso and the previous generation C3 Aircross. However, it looks nothing like these models, adopting single-box proportions.

Reinventing the Urban MPV

Its name is an acronym of sorts, built from the words rEst, pLay, and wOrk, each pointing to one of the concept’s imagined roles. Measuring 4.10 meters (161.4 inches) in length, it roughly matches the size of the now-discontinued C3 Picasso and the previous C3 Aircross.

In shape, though, it’s a clean break, leaning into a single-box form that has little in common with those models.

Up front, the ELO wears squared-off LED lights and a large, illuminated Citroen badge, bookended by a utilitarian front bumper that’s mirrored around the back. The windshield has a weird curve and is joined by a small glass roof. The profile is dominated by the large greenhouse and the sliding doors that create a 1.92 m (75.6-inch) wide opening.

The concept rides on 21-inch wheels with futuristic covers. There are horizontal cutouts above the fender on the beltline, while the roofline drops towards the rear section. The rear has an asymmetrical door and glass, with split LED taillights mirroring the shape of the headlights.

Four Or Six Seats

Inside, the ELO is configured as a “modular living space,” designed to hold either four or six people. The layout is unorthodox: the driver’s seat is mounted in the center, with two removable passenger seats positioned slightly behind it, and a three-person bench completing the rear row.

The front seat can swivel, creating a living room or a work space for meetings. The rear section of the cabin can transform into a sleeping area thanks to a pair of inflatable mattresses.

These are made of a durable material called Dropstitch and can be stored in the trunk. Furthermore, a drop-down screen turns the EV into a home theater.

The ELO doesn’t have a dashboard in the conventional sense. In its place, the ELO features an open section ahead of the driver and a slim display mounted beneath the front windshield.

The steering wheel juts out from the front wall in a futuristic shape, equipped with two joystick-style inputs and traditional stalks, replacing the need for a touchscreen. Door cards and side panels incorporate clever storage solutions, as expected in a van shaped around practicality.

The concept rides on a fully electric architecture, which is beneficial for packaging. Citroen hasn’t shared the specifications of the electric motors or the battery pack, but said that the “natural habitat” of the concept is urban areas.

It Could Spawn a Subcompact Offering

The concept will make its first public appearance at the Brussels Motor Show in January 2026. While it’s not destined for production in this form, French outlet L’Argus reports that it could influence a future subcompact model expected in 2028. That vehicle would slot somewhere between the C3 hatchback and the C3 Aircross SUV.

Citroen’s Design Director, Pierre Leclercq, referred to the ELO as “a burst of energy,” describing it as a design experiment built around practicality, efficiency, and a touch of whimsy. Nissan’s New NX8 SUV Outsizes The Rogue And Might Outshine It Too

Nissan has introduced a new midsize SUV developed in partnership with Dongfeng in China, marking the latest addition to its growing, budget-conscious N-series lineup. Named the NX8, the model joins the existing N6 and N7 sedans and will be offered with a selection of electrified powertrains.

The SUV’s exterior design follows the same styling language as its sedan counterparts, with clean surfacing and a grille-free front fascia. A full-width daytime running light runs across the split headlights and wraps around the front fenders, while OLED tail lights extend across the rear.

The overall shape leans toward conventional SUV proportions, marked by flush-fitting door handles and pronounced shoulders.

How Big Is It?

The NX8 measures 4,870 mm (191.7 inches) in length, 1,920 mm (75.6 inches) in width, and 1,680 mm (66.1 inches) in height, with a wheelbase of 2,917 mm (114.8 inches).

That makes it 222 mm (8.7 inches) longer than the Rogue (X-Trail) and 152 mm (6 inches) shorter than the Pathfinder. Interestingly, its wheelbase is 17 mm (0.7 inches) longer than the Pathfinder’s, which should translate to slightly better interior space.

Images reveal a suite of sensors along with a roof-mounted lidar unit, hinting at advanced driver assistance tech. Nissan hasn’t revealed the interior yet, but it’s expected to mirror the cabin layout of the N6 and N7, likely featuring a prominent touchscreen and soft-touch materials throughout. The company says the NX8 will offer a spacious five-seat configuration.

What Powers It?

Nissan has confirmed the NX8 will be classified as a NEV (New Energy Vehicle), with specifications recently published by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

The fully electric variants will be available with either a single motor producing 288 hp (215 kW / 292 PS) or a more powerful version at 335 hp (250 kW / 340 PS).

A plug-in hybrid or range-extender version will also be offered, pairing a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine making 146 hp (109 kW / 148 PS) with an electric motor rated at 262 hp (195 kW / 265 PS).

All variants will use the latest lithium iron phosphate battery packs supplied by CATL. While range figures and battery capacities have not yet been disclosed, the packs are said to support ultra-fast charging.

The market launch of the Nissan NX8 in China is scheduled for the first half of 2026 with pricing set to be announced closer to that date. As with the N6 and N7 sedans, the SUV will reportedly be exported to other markets in the near future.

When and Where Can You Buy One?

Nissan plans to launch the NX8 in China during the first half of 2026, with pricing to be confirmed closer to its market debut. As with the N6 and N7 sedans, the NX8 is expected to be exported to additional markets after its initial rollout. Whether that will include Western regions like Europe and Australia, however, remains to be seen.

As for pricing, we’ll have to wait for official figures, but if the N6 and N7 are any indication, it’s likely to stay within a very competitive range. The N7, for example, is priced between 119,900 and 149,900 yuan, or roughly $17,000 to $21,200 at current exchange rates.

Stellantis Furious At Influencers Who Tore Apart Recon Interior To Mock Its Build Quality

Stellantis has publicly condemned two influencers after a viral video showed them dismantling parts of the new fully-electric Jeep Recon during the 2025 Los Angeles Auto Show. The clip, which spread quickly across social media, reopened the debate over how pre-production prototypes ought to be treated at auto shows.

The automaker explained that the show car mocked for its poor build quality was a hand-assembled pre-production prototype, not the finished model, describing the creators’ actions as “destructive.”

Online Outrage or Honest Critique?

The viral video, posted by an LA-based channel called “The Middle Lane,” has drawn more than 1.1 million views and 2,300 comments on TikTok since November 22. It reportedly appeared on YouTube and Instagram as well, though it has since been removed from both platforms.

The creators blasted the build quality of the latest Jeep, saying they expected better fit and finish for a vehicle with an MSRP of $65,000. They are shown removing and then reattaching plastic pieces from the Recon’s interior, including trim around the center console and above the digital instrument cluster.

They also zoom in on uneven gaps between materials on the door panels and wiggle the infotainment screen and passenger grab handle, saying they were simulating “off-road use.”

Stellantis Responds

In response, Stellantis released a statement: “The vehicle in question is a preproduction show car, built exclusively for reveals and events to highlight the design inspiration for the final product. These prototype units are typically hand-built and not intended to demonstrate final production, durability, quality, or integrity of materials.”

Kaileen Connelly, Senior Vice President of North America Communications at Stellantis, added in an email to the Detroit Free Press: “The actions taken to disassemble the all-new Jeep Recon on display at the LA Auto Show were both destructive and unprofessional.”

What the Creators Say

The Detroit Free Press later spoke with Luke Miani, founder of “The Middle Lane,” who said they were surprised by the video’s reach and the conversation it triggered. According to Miani, their intention had simply been to share “thoughts on many different cars.”

Addressing Stellantis’ statement, he explained, “I want to push back on the claims of ‘destructive’ conduct as the video clearly shows the clips holding certain interior parts together were loose and the parts easily pop out by hand without damage.”

He added that he looks forward to seeing the production version of the Recon, hoping that “the build quality is indeed improved.”

How the Public Reacted

Reaction online has been mixed. Some commenters expressed disappointment with what they perceived as poor craftsmanship, placing blame on Stellantis. Others defended the automaker, noting that the vehicle was a pre-production demo unit brought to LA for the show and never intended for close physical inspection.

The story also gained traction on Reddit, where many users criticized the influencers for “unprofessionalism,” while others argued that automakers should be more discerning about who gets access to display cars.

One self-identified “interior trim engineer” commented that building pre-production models is “way different” from production, describing a process where “employees are working on a table with a drill and some screws” long before an assembly line is operational.

Malaysian automaker Perodua has taken its first serious step into electrification with the launch of the QV-E, short for Quest for Visionary Electric Vehicle.

This subcompact crossover marks the brand’s first zero-emission model and comes with a subscription-based battery plan that trims the headline price, though it’s a hollow saving since you can’t drive an electric car without the very component you’re leasing.

The QV-E also holds a unique distinction as Malaysia’s first domestically developed electric car. Rival Proton’s e.MAS 7 SUV and e.MAS 5 hatchback are rebadged versions of Geely models, while Perodua has invested heavily in building something original. Development began in 2023, with research and engineering work totaling 800 million ringgit (around $194 million).

Everything started with a scale model of the EMO (Electric Motion Online) concept in May 2023, followed by the EMO-I hatchback mule a year later and the EMO-II crossover concept that surfaced in December 2024. By May 2025, the design had matured into a running prototype, giving the public its first clear look at what would eventually become the production QV-E.

Compact Footprint, Coupe-SUV Looks

Perodua

At 4,170 mm (164.2 inches) long and sitting on a 2,680 mm (105.5-inch) wheelbase, the QV-E blends compact dimensions with a sport-leaning stance. Its front end features sharp split LED headlights, a contoured hood, and muscular fenders.

The silhouette bears some resemblance to the previous-generation Toyota C-HR and the current Nissan Juke, particularly around the windowline. The front door handles are flush with the bodywork, while the rear ones are hidden on the C-pillars.

Moving to the rear, the sloping roof meets a full-width light bar and integrated diffuser. The crossover rolls on 18-inch alloy wheels and comes in only two shades for now: Ice Blue and Caviar Gray.

Plain Interior

Inside, the dashboard plays it safe, leaning more toward functional than inspiring. A pair of 10.25-inch screens, one for infotainment, the other for instruments, cover the basics without breaking new ground.

The floating center console, ambient lighting, and aluminum-look trim do their best to lift the mood, though the overall impression still feels more cost-conscious than cutting-edge. Safety is well covered with six airbags and a full ADAS suite.

A Single Powertrain Option

The Perodua QV-E sits on a modular platform developed with assistance from Magna Steyr. Power comes from a single electric motor rated at 201 hp (150 kW / 204 PS) and 285 Nm (210 lb-ft) of torque, driving the front wheels for a 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) time of 7.5 seconds.

The lithium iron phosphate battery, supplied by China’s CATL, has a capacity of 52.5 kWh and claims up to 445 km (276 miles) of range under the optimistic NEDC cycle. The catch, of course, is that this essential piece of hardware isn’t actually included in the car’s price.

Buy The Car, Lease The Battery

The Perodua QV-E starts from 80,000 ringgit (equal to $19,400 at current exchange rates), but owners will have to pay an additional 275 ringgit ($67) per month for the battery as part of a nine-year lease contract.

Perodua CEO Zainal Abidin Ahmad says the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model ensures “a lifetime guarantee on the battery for our customers’ peace of mind,” calling it a way to reduce ownership anxiety often tied to electric vehicles.

Production is set to take place locally in Malaysia, starting with 500 units per month before ramping up to 3,000 by the third quarter of 2026. Bloomberg reports that Perodua aims for 50 percent local parts content by early 2026, rising to 70 percent by 2030.

Electric vehicle adoption in Malaysia continues to gather pace, with the government targeting EVs to make up 15 percent of new car sales by the end of the decade.

Mahindra’s Confused Formula E SUV Looks More Dakar Than Formula

Mahindra has rolled out a fresh take on its BE6 electric SUV, arriving a year after the model’s debut in India. This new BE6 Formula E Edition celebrates the brand’s ongoing presence in the FIA Formula E championship, carrying a range of design tweaks.

When most carmakers release a special edition, the updates stop at paint colors, wheels, or graphics. Mahindra went a step further, reshaping parts of the body to make the BE6 Formula E Edition stand out for more than its decals.

What Sets It Apart?

The BE6 Formula E Edition features a distinct front bumper framed by round LED headlights and sharply contoured detailing. A new skid plate and a generous spread of dark liquid metal cladding make it look more like a dune-conquering rally car than a formula-inspired build.

The rear bumper has also been redesigned, joined by a double spoiler. Furthermore, the vertical LEDs have been blocked for a cleaner look.

The SUV sits on new 20-inch alloy wheels, though Mahindra also offers the familiar 19-inch set from the standard BE6. Along the profile, the glass roof and pillars wear racing-inspired graphics that contrast neatly with the four body colors on offer: Everest White, Firestorm Orange, Tango Red, and Stealth Black

The fully electric SUV has also gained Formula E badges on the front fenders and special branding on the windshield. The cabin combines black upholstery with Firestorm Orange inserts, FIA-branded seat belts and plaque, the Formula E logo on the dashboard, and a custom startup animation.

Equipment is generous, with a standard digital cockpit, dual wireless charging, a Harman Kardon audio system, and an ADAS suite.

Performance And Range

The Formula E special doesn’t get any performance upgrades over the high-spec BE6. The rear-mounted electric motor produces 282 hp (210 kW / 286 PS) and 380 Nm (280.3 lb-ft) of torque, sending the SUV from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.7 seconds and on to a 202 km/h (126 mph) top speed. A 79 kWh battery provides an estimated 500 km (311 miles) of real-world range.

The top FE3 trim adds adaptive suspension as standard, making it the most sophisticated version yet.

Pricing

Mahindra prices the BE6 Formula E Edition from ₹23.69 lakh ($26,500) for the FE2 and ₹24.49 lakh ($27,400) for the fully equipped FE3. Unlike the limited-run Batman Edition, this one will be widely available, though still exclusive to India. Orders open on January 14, with first deliveries due by February 14, 2026.

For younger fans, Mahindra even plans a BE6 Formula E Ride-On toddler car, arriving in April 2026 for ₹18,000 ($200).

Mahindra has competed in Formula E since the series began in 2014, claiming five victories and 29 podiums to date. While a championship title remains elusive, the team’s consistency has secured its place on the grid for the next era of the sport, continuing into the GEN4 generation for the 2026–2027 season

Skoda has already served up a flurry of digital concepts nodding to its back catalogue, but this latest one marks a first, as it’s the only sedan in the mix. The design channels something like a future Superb, though under the surface it sticks with the rear-engined, rear-wheel-drive layout once common in the brand’s earlier models.

The concept draws directly from the Skoda 100, a milestone model for the Czech brand that became its first to pass the one-million-unit production mark. Between 1969 and 1977, 1,079,708 examples of the 100 were built.

This digital reinterpretation was developed by Martin Paclt, part of Skoda’s headlight design team. Paclt said he chose the Skoda 100 because of its strong recognition and what he described as its “clean, timeless lines,” which align naturally with the brand’s current Modern Solid design philosophy.

Throwback Details

The new sedan’s proportions reflect those of today’s Superb, though Paclt aimed to give it a more premium, limousine-like presence compared to its modestly priced ancestor from the 1970s.

References to the original 100 appear throughout the design: character lines along the flanks, cooling intakes on the rear fenders, vents beneath the taillights, and a front graphic that encloses both grille and headlights.

The latter break from the old circular style, though Paclt experimented with that shape in early sketches before settling on a cleaner interpretation.

That could shift in a roundabout fashion, courtesy of a batch of Rivian R1T trucks that ended up stranded Down Under. They might soon be offered to the public. Just one small hitch; you can’t legally drive them on the road, which tends to put a dent in the whole ownership experience.

So, how did a bunch of Rivianland in Australia in the first place? The short answer is MEVCO, a Perth-based startup launched in 2022 with plans to supply fully electric light commercial vehicles to the mining sector.

The company purchased 13 Rivian R1Ts in 2024 for local trials, alongside three electric Toyota Hilux utes converted by SEA Electric. But MEVCO’s ambitions didn’t last. After struggling to raise funds and drowning in debt, the company collapsed into administration in September 2025.

As part of the liquidation, the entire fleet is now heading to auction. The Rivians will be sold through Grays Auctions in Western Australia, giving local EV enthusiasts a rare chance to pick up one of the U.S.-built trucks, if they can live with some serious restrictions.

Can You Actually Use One?

Under Australian law, left-hand-drive vehicles can only be registered for road use if they’re over 30 years old. There are limited exemptions for rare imports, but as these Rivians are mass-produced, they likely won’t qualify.

That means buyers will be confined to using them on private property, think farms, mine sites, remote tracks, or driveways outside the public road network.

Technically, converting them to right-hand drive could make them street legal, but that’s not a cheap process.

As reported by Australian outlet Drive.com.au, which broke the story, the Rivians will go under the hammer in Western Australia through Grays Auctions.

Michael Fernandes, State Operations Manager for Grays Auctions in WA, told Drive.com.au, “We’re currently working closely with the administrator and completing our legal and compliance due diligence to ensure that when these vehicles hit the open market, ownership will pass to buyers as smoothly as these vehicles drive.”

He added that more details about the auction sale would be made available once the formal process allows.

Following the facelift of the Peugeot 308, Stellantis is turning its attention to the updated Opel Astra, a sibling in spirit and a direct contender for the VW Golf’s enduring territory.

The sixth-generation Astra (L), launched in 2021, marked a clean break from its GM past, adopting Stellantis architecture for the first time. Four years on, it’s due for a mid-lifecycle update designed to keep it relevant in buyers’ minds and strengthen its position against Opel’s steadily expanding SUV range.

The model remains instantly recognisable, with changes focused on the front end. The Opel Vizor grille now incorporates broader LED elements framing the illuminated Opel Blitz badge. Together, these create what the company refers to as the Opel Compass, a design signature that will appear across the lineup.

The Astra has also gained a redesigned bumper with glossy black trim between the intakes. The profile and rear end remain largely unchanged, but the new 17 and 18-inch alloy wheels add a fresh note.

The interior is basically the same, but the ergonomically designed Intelli-Seats that were previously limited to high-spec trims are now standard across the range offering greater comfort. The seats are upholstered in a recycled and recyclable material called ReNewKnit, and are available with multi-stage heating, electro-pneumatic lumbar support, massage, and memory functions.

While the Astra retains the dual 10-inch displays, Opel says that the cockpit and user interface of the infotainment have been made “clearer and more intuitive”.

Powertrain Parity

Opel didn’t get into details about the powertrain lineup, which is expected to mirror the facelifted Peugeot 308. That range includes a 1.5-liter turbodiesel producing 129 hp (96 kW / 130 PS), a mild-hybrid 1.2-liter turbo petrol with 143 hp (107 kW / 145 PS), a 1.6-liter plug-in hybrid delivering a combined 192 hp (143 kW / 195 PS), and a fully electric version rated at 154 hp (115 kW / 156 PS).

The Astra Electric benefits from a larger 58 kWh battery that increases the WLTP range by 34 km (21 miles) to a more respectable 454 km (282 miles) and supports V2L (Vehicle to Load) functions for charging external devices.

The facelifted Astra will make its public debut at the Brussels Motor Show in January 9 ahead of its market launch in European markets. Details on pricing and availability will be announced soon.

Tata has re-entered the Indian SUV segment with the comeback of the Sierra, reviving a nameplate that has been absent for more than two decades. The reborn Sierra arrives with near concept-car styling, modern technology, and a price tag that feels shockingly affordable for what it offers.

The new Sierra first appeared as a concept in 2023, and the production version remains remarkably faithful to that design. Its squared-off silhouette and rugged stance lend it Land Rover vibes, a detail made all the more interesting given Tata’s ownership of JLR.

The strong B-pillar and wraparound rear glass nod to the original three-door Sierra of 1991, which stayed in production until 2003. Those retro cues meet contemporary details like glossy black cladding, aluminum-effect skid plates, sculpted rear haunches, and an upright tail capped with full-width LEDs.

Base models sit on 17-inch steel wheels, while top trims roll on 19-inch alloys with a more polished look. The overall design wouldn’t feel out of place alongside a modern-day Freelander or even a compact Defender.

Tata has also given us a glimpse of the upcoming Sierra EV that stands out thanks to a Tesla-like full-width LED bar and a grille-less look for the redesigned front bumper.

The Sierra measures 4,340 mm in length, 1,841 mm in width, and 1,715 mm in height, with a 2,730 mm wheelbase and 205 mm of ground clearance. That footprint plants it squarely among rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Suzuki Grand Vitara / Victoris, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, and VW Taigun.

High-Tech Interior

Step inside and the Sierra greets you with a triple-screen setup: a 10.25-inch digital cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, and a matching 12.3-inch passenger display.

The options list runs deep, including a 12-speaker JBL system with a dashboard sound bar, ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, wireless charging, ventilated seats, and what Tata calls the largest panoramic sunroof in its class.

Tata promises a roomy and comfortable five-seat cabin, finished with soft-touch materials and offering a 622-litre (22-cubic-foot) boot. The company has also placed strong emphasis on safety, even showcasing a crash test that recreated a vehicle-to-vehicle impact. Standard equipment includes six airbags and an ADAS suite with Level 2+ autonomous features.

The Sierra rides on Tata’s new ARGOS platform (All-Terrain Ready, Omni-Energy, and Geometry Scalable architecture), designed to support multiple powertrain types.

At launch, the Sierra will be available with a naturally-aspirated 1.5-liter gasoline engine producing 105 hp (78 kW / 106 PS), a turbocharged 1.5-liter with 158 hp (118 kW / 160 PS), and a 1.5-liter turbodiesel with 116 hp (87 kW / 118 PS).

Transmission choices include a six-speed manual, a seven-speed dual-clutch, or a six-speed automatic. All versions are front-wheel drive for now, with selectable terrain modes, but all-wheel drive is planned. Later on, the lineup will expand to include fully electric, hybrid, and CNG options.

Priced To Sell

And that brings us to price, arguably the Sierra’s biggest talking point. Tata has announced a starting figure of ₹11.49 lakh (around $12,800 or about what you’d pay for a bespoke color at Range Rover), which positions it as strong value in its class.

Even so, it lands just above the Hyundai Creta, priced from ₹10.72 lakh ($12,100), which continues to dominate India’s SUV charts.

Orders for the Sierra open on December 16, with deliveries beginning January 16. For now, Tata says the model will be sold exclusively in India, with no export plans on the table.

The EV5 is the fourth Kia to wear the Weekender badge, following in the tracks of the EV9, PV5, and Tasman. Each model in the series interprets an outdoor-oriented trim with its own distinct approach.

While none of the Weekender concepts have yet transitioned to production, that could change as buyers increasingly look for rugged, lifestyle-oriented versions of these models.

Outdoor Intentions

The concept was developed by the Kia China Style Design Team. From the outside, the main changes are immediately clear. It sits higher on larger wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, while the lifted suspension gives it noticeably greater ground clearance and a more confident stance.

The SUV wears a matte beige finish accented with lime green details, a color scheme that has become a signature for the Weekender range. It also features a redesigned bodykit with wider fender extensions, new skid plates, chunkier side skirts, a hood insert, and a large roof rack.

Kia even added dedicated mounts on one side of the vehicle for attaching extra equipment, in a similar vein to the Land Rover Defender.

Practical Changes Inside

The interior has been reworked more extensively than expected for a concept based on an existing production SUV. The wide display now stretches in front of the passenger and is paired with a slim digital instrument cluster.

The cabin is filled with practical touches reminiscent of Dacia’s YouClip system, including cup holders and storage compartments mounted along the sides of the cargo area, as well as extra rails on the roof liner for securing gear.

What’s Beneath It

Kia hasn’t disclosed the technical specifications of the concept, so it’s unclear whether it differs mechanically from the production EV5 beyond its upgraded suspension setup.

The EV5 rides on the E-GMP architecture and is available in FWD and AWD forms with different battery options depending on the region. A GT variant has been confirmed for production, promising a more potent powertrain and sportier handling.

It wouldn’t be surprising if the production EV5 lineup eventually adds a toned-down version of the Weekender concept for buyers who enjoy camping or off-road trips. Kia has a habit of turning its concepts into real models, and this one looks ready to follow the same path.

The world’s largest automotive market has become a linchpin for General Motors, a place where nearly all its brands are striving to secure a stronger presence. To that end, GM’s China Advanced Design studio has unveiled another fresh concept study, a “sporty EV” created specifically with Chinese buyers in mind.

The exploration sketches and renderings were made by GM designer Charles Huang at the company’s Shanghai facilities. They show what looks like a small crossover – some might even see shades of a future Bolt – with oversized wheels and a contrasting bi-tone paint scheme.

At the front, the concept trades a traditional grille for a clean, enclosed surface with split LED headlights and a Chevrolet emblem that may light up. The bodywork is restrained, defined by crisp lines and minimal decorative detailing.

The most striking element is the wraparound glasshouse, framed by a thick C-pillar that seems to clasp the rear of the vehicle. The contrast between the deep blue and black tones amplifies this visual tension.

According to the designer, the profile is inspired by a “released arrow”, an idea most evident in the early sketches. The later, photorealistic renderings dial the drama back, edging closer to something feasible for production.

In fact, it’s easy to picture this crossover parked in a Chevrolet showroom, fitted with regular mirrors and door handles, of course, assuming those still have a place in modern EV design.

The presentation on the GM Design Instagram profile doesn’t include any sketches of the interior. We don’t have any specs, either, although a rear-mounted electric motor and a medium-sized battery pack would probably do the job.

While the Chevrolet concept is just a design study with no production intent, GM is working on multiple affordable EVs for the future. It is safe to assume that at least some of them will adopt an SUV bodystyle, possibly similar to the “sporty EV” depicted in the sketches.

Though GM describes the project as a design study with no immediate production intent, it arrives at a time when the company is actively developing several affordable EVs for many markets. It’s likely that some of those models will borrow cues from this study, especially the SUV silhouete.

One year after introducing the AUDI sub-brand for China, Audi and its joint-venture partner SAIC are already gearing up for their second production model, following the market launch of the E5 Sportback in September.

The momentum continues with the reveal of the new AUDI E SUV concept at the Guangzhou Auto Show, a preview of an electric SUV expected to reach Chinese showrooms in 2026.

The concept feels nearly production-ready, carrying over the same design cues as its low-slung stablemate. Signature styling cues include the wraparound lights on both ends and the clean surfacing with sculpted fenders.

The electric SUV also features short overhangs, flush door handles, and camera-based mirrors, with fin-shaped C-pillars adding a distinctive profile.

The AUDI emblem now sits prominently on the nose, and at 5,057 mm (199.1 inches) in length with a 3,060 mm (120.5 inches) wheelbase, the concept nearly matches the footprint of the combustion-powered Q7.

The company hasn’t revealed the interior, though it’s likely to mirror the E5 Sportback’s layout, centered around a vast 27-inch 4K display stretching across most of the dashboard.

The concept also includes the AUDI 360 Driving Assist System, an advanced driver-assistance suite developed specifically for Chinese traffic patterns and road conditions.

The AUDI E SUV is built on the Advanced Digitized Platform (ADP), developed jointly with SAIC. Power comes from dual electric motors delivering a combined 671 hp (500 kW / 680 PS) to a quattro all-wheel-drive system.

According to the company, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (0–62 mph) in roughly five seconds.

A Stretched A6 e-tron For China

Sharing the spotlight in Guangzhou, the A6L e-tron stretches Audi’s EV presence in the region. This version, built for Chinese buyers, gains 132 mm (5.2 inches) in wheelbase and a subtly revised front end featuring a black trim strip that links the main headlights across a covered grille.

The cabin features a market-specific infotainment system and enhanced driver assistance features. It runs on an 800-volt electrical system with a 107 kWh battery offering a CLTC range of 770 km (479 miles).

Buick is enjoying solid momentum in China, with consistent demand for the Envision SUV, LaCrosse sedan, and GL8 minivan keeping showrooms busy. Even so, the design team continues to push forward, developing fresh ideas and refining future models.

Two of these design studies just appeared on the General Motors Design Instagram account: one is a family compact SUV, the other a sportier crossover estate. Different takes, but both look unusually ready for production.

Both concepts were developed at the GM Advanced Design studio in Shanghai, China. One is designed by Sangmin Kim, while the other is designed by Yixuan Feng.

Starting with the more conventional concept, it’s described as “a fun, family-oriented premium Buick design study” created around the theme “driving in comfort.”

Up front, split LED headlights feature futuristic internal graphics, compensating neatly for the absence of a traditional grille. Along the sides, large bi-tone alloy wheels fill the arches, framed by glossy black cladding and muscular fenders.

The thick C-pillars flow into a rear spoiler that wraps around the back window, where the taillights are integrated beneath the glass. The rear also features a wide tailgate and a sculpted bumper with a discreet diffuser. Despite modest ground clearance, the upright front end, roof rails, and protective cladding lend it an SUV stance reminiscent of the Kia Niro.

Buick hasn’t revealed technical details, but the proportions seem to place this concept between the 171.4 inches (4,355 mm) of the Encore GX and the 182.7 inches (4,645 mm) of the Envision.

The next concept is described as a “small, expressive premium Buick design study” built around the idea of “driving pleasure.” It adopts an aerodynamic crossover hatchback or estate profile, complete with suicide doors and a split tailgate.

The front end features an illuminated grille, slim headlights, and ADAS sensors hidden in the bumper intakes. The forged aluminum wheels have shiny chrome accents, while the surfacing in front of the toned rear shoulders looks inspired by Lexus.

Other highlights include the panoramic sunroof, the flying buttresses, the swooping rear glass, and the reflective taillights. Overall, the model appears to be smaller in size compared to the Electra-L Shooting Brake concept from 2024.

What’s Next For Buick?

Buick’s design language is shifting toward New Energy Vehicles (NEV), and both of these concepts seem well-suited to fully electric or range-extender setups.

While the models are labeled as design studies, they could easily pass for production vehicles, as they don’t have any wildly futuristic features. Buick is reportedly working on an electric subcompact crossover, which is set to arrive before 2029, followed by a new generation of the Encore GX.

The Ford Puma returned in 2019 as a compact SUV, followed by a mid-cycle update in 2024 and the arrival of the fully electric Gen-E later that year. Now, Ford has introduced a subtly revised 2026 version of the EV, delivering a longer driving range and more advanced driver assistance features.

The standout figure is an improved WLTP range of 400 km (249 miles), up by 24 km (15 miles) from the outgoing model. Within the urban cycle, the 2026 Ford Puma Gen-E can manage up to 550 km (342 miles), which should mean fewer plug-in stops for most owners.

The added distance comes from an “optimised battery design” that maintains the same 43 kWh capacity. Ford hasn’t specified whether that figure applies to the base Gen-E with 17-inch wheels or the Premium trim on 18-inch alloys.

Power remains at 166 hp (124 kW) and 290 Nm (214 lb-ft) of torque, sent to the front wheels through a single electric motor.

That 400-km WLTP rating positions the Puma Gen-E well within its segment, closely matching rivals such as the Alfa Romeo Junior Elettrica, Jeep Avenger, Fiat 600e, Opel Mokka Electric, Peugeot E-2008, Renault 4 E-Tech, and Mini Aceman. Even so, it still trails the Kia EV3 Long Range, which claims up to 604 km (375 miles) on the same cycle.

Hands-Free Driving

Starting from spring 2026, the smallest Ford in Europe will be available with the BlueCruise system, allowing hands-off highway driving as part of the optional Driver Assistance Pack. The technology is gradually spreading across the range, now confirmed for the Kuga and Ranger PHEV as well.

Since its European debut in 2023, BlueCruise has expanded to 16 markets and covers more than 135,000 km (84,000 miles) of approved highways.

Predictably, there are no styling updates, with the Puma Gen-E retaining its grille-less design. The rest of the bodywork is shared with the facelifted mild-hybrid version.

Another highlight of the Puma is the “Gigabox” storage compartment under the boot. The cargo capacity is 574 liters (20.3 cubic feet) at the back and another 43 liters (1.5 cubic feet) in the frunk.

The 2026 Ford Puma Gen-E is open for orders in the UK, priced from £26,245 ($34,500). That’s unchanged from the current model, though it now benefits from updated local incentives.

The larger CFRP rear wing, which can also be ordered on its own, features a double-deck design adjustable to three positions: 8°, 0°, and -8°. Depending on the angle, it produces between 265 and 305 kilograms (584–672 pounds) of downforce at 257 km/h (160 mph).

A deflector mounted beneath the car trims lift and adds another 16 kilograms (35 pounds) of downforce at top speed.

Beyond the aerodynamic pieces, the package includes 20-inch forged wheels with a 12-spoke layout, finished in either black or white. They shave 1.5 kilograms (3 pounds) from the unsprung mass compared to the standard aero wheels of the same size.

To fine-tune the exterior, owners can add a racing stripe, a Sabelt tow strap, carbon center caps, and black wheel nuts.

Inside, the upgrades extend to a steering wheel wrapped in Pasubio leather, suede armrests, carbon fiber scuff plates, and floor mats marked with N Performance branding. The company also offers Ferodo brake pads designed for both street and circuit use.

Jeep is now developing a long-anticipated successor, scheduled to arrive by 2027, aiming to refresh the smallest member of its off-road family without losing the character that defined the original.

Between Avenger and Compass

The upcoming Renegade will be sold in both North America and Europe, marking the nameplate’s return to the US market after the current generation was discontinued following the 2023 model year. It will slot beneath the Compass as Jeep’s most compact American offering, while sitting just above the Avenger in the European lineup.

Marco Montepeloso, Head of Jeep Product Planning in Europe, recently spoke with Auto Express about the Renegade’s future role.

He confirmed that the next generation will keep a similar footprint to today’s model, which measures 4,236 mm (166.8 inches) in length. This size positions it neatly between the 4,084 mm Avenger (160.8 inches) and the 4,550 mm Compass (179.1 inches), placing it toward the upper end of the sub-compact SUV class.

Montepeloso drew a clear line between the Avenger and the Renegade, noting that customer data shows little overlap.

“Looking at the customer analysis, there is a clear difference between a four-metre-long car that mainly addresses the needs of compactness for some European buyers, and a bigger 4.25 to 4.3-metre-long vehicle that caters more to young families or active lifestyles,” he told Auto Express. “These people need extra space, whether it’s in the second row or the boot.”

He added that the two models serve distinct audiences, leaving a healthy gap for the Renegade to occupy. “I don’t see a risk of cannibalisation,” he said. “There are clear differences in customers, and that’s exactly why there’s a strong opportunity for the Renegade between Avenger and Compass.”

Jeep has yet to reveal the design of the next Renegade, but its visual cues will likely align with the brand’s evolving aesthetic. Expect a compact, upright stance anchored by the familiar seven-slot grille, framed by modern LED lighting and more defined wheel arches.

Short overhangs and a solid ground clearance should preserve the Renegade’s capable look, while the cabin is expected to balance technology and practicality with durable materials and physical controls alongside a digital display setup.

Earlier this year, independent designer Marco Maltese imagined his own take on a next-generation Renegade through a digital study, blending Jeep’s rugged styling cues with sharper, more contemporary proportions.

Updated Foundations and Powertrain

The next Renegade will finally move away from its aging FCA-era underpinnings in favor of a more advanced Stellantis architecture. The leading candidate is the STLA Small platform, a development of the CMP and eCMP structures already used for the Avenger and several other compact vehicles across the group.

While originally planned as an EV-only, Jeep’s European boss strongly hinted that it won’t be the sole option. Mild-hybrid variants with both front- and all-wheel-drive configurations are expected, helping the brand navigate an increasingly unpredictable market landscape.

Montepeloso described this as a core principle for Europe, saying that “Freedom of Choice” remains central to Jeep’s approach. “If you want to be relevant in all markets, you need to have a wide offering of powertrains,” he said. “We need to stick with this philosophy, giving customers freedom. It’s essential for sales and for staying adaptable as regulations evolve.”

Stellantis’ Chinese partner Leapmotor continues to expand its model lineup, this time setting its sights on one of the most competitive corners of the market: small SUVs. Its latest offering is called A10 in China and B03x in Europe, positioned below the slightly larger B10.

The new EV made its first public outing at the Guangzhou Auto Show and has also been confirmed by Stellantis for European markets including Germany. The SUV is expected to be joined by a mechanically-related small hatchback set to be unveiled in 2026.

The bodywork reflects the smooth surfacing and rounded contours seen across Leapmotor’s lineup, complemented by a Citroen-like wraparound greenhouse, discreet plastic cladding, and LED lighting with darkened clusters. The graphics on the taillights look like smiling emojis, adding a playful note to the rather generic design.

The model rides on 18-inch alloy wheels and will be available in six shades – including the pictured Seaweed Green and Acorn Brown. A roof-mounted Lidar unit and visible sensors along the profile indicate that the model will include a full suite of advanced driver-assistance systems.

According to the company, the SUV measures over 4,200 mm (165.4 inches) long, 1,800 mm (70.9 inches) wide, and 1,600 mm (63 inches) tall, with a wheelbase of over 2,600 mm (102.4 inches), placing it within the small SUVs segment.

More importantly, the A10/B03x is the first model to ride on Leapmotor’s new global A-Segment platform. While technical details remain undisclosed, the EV will be fitted with an “extremely high-energy-density LFP battery” offering a CLTC range of 500 km (311 miles), most likely combined with a single electric motor.

While no interior photos were released and the show car’s windows remained heavily tinted, the cabin is expected to carry on Leapmotor’s familiar minimalist theme, combining a large infotainment display with a clean, uncluttered dashboard and seating for five. The company promises generous space inside, an AI-driven cockpit, and full over-the-air update capability throughout the vehicle’s life cycle.
