Tesla On FSD Suddenly Swerves And Crashes Into A Tree, Claims Driver

  • A new Tesla Model 3 crash reportedly happened while running on Full Self-Driving (Supervised).
  • Video from the car shows it driving across the oncoming traffic lane, into grass, and ultimately a tree.
  • If this video is everything it purports to be, Tesla will need to sort out exactly what happened ASAP.

Autonomous driving may be the future, but the present still has a lot of explaining to do. Especially when cars with so-called “Full Self-Driving” capabilities start careening off the road for no obvious reason.

That said, it’s rare to see what we just have in a newly released set of videos involving a Tesla. According to the title, it shows a crash while running what Tesla calls its autonomous system, Full Self-Driving (Supervised). What’s worse, though, is that it seems to do so without rhyme or reason in broad daylight with no traffic on a straight road.

Tesla famously uses vision-based software and hardware to run its semi-autonomous Autopilot and Full Self-Driving (Supervised) software. In theory, it makes complete sense since we humans also drive almost entirely via vision-based mechanics. In practice, though, there are some major concerns, and this video highlights them. We’ll circle back to that.

The Incident: Straight Road, Sharp Left Turn

A YouTube channel recently uploaded four videos showing each side of a car during a crash. They say this is a Model 3 and that it’s running FSD 13.2.8, which is almost the latest available version. On May 11, Tesla released 13.2.8, but this crash happened on February 26 so indeed, it was up to date given that information.

That said, what the video shows is the most shocking part of this entire situation. Across three of the four clips, we see the car moving for 45 seconds. In all of them, everything appears totally normal for the first 31 seconds as the car trundles down a two-lane road. Then, just as a car passes going the opposite way, all hell seems to break loose.

The car turns hard to the left, goes across the opposing traffic lane, goes off the road, and hits a tree before rolling over. From the moment it begins to turn to the moment it impacts the tree is less than three seconds. While that’s tough to swallow, it’s the conditions that really make this a bad deal for Tesla.

The road was perfectly straight. This appears to be at some time in the relatively early or later part of the day as the shadows cast on the ground are long. Despite that, the sun is bright and seemingly unobstructed by clouds, so there’s no lack of lighting in the scene. Finally, there’s no complex traffic situation here with markings, other cars, or road signs.

Still, for whatever reason, it appears as though this car allegedly on FSD just decided that it needed to leave the roadway and did exactly that. Adding even more confusion to this crash are videos of YouTubers testing FSD against inanimate objects on the road. In almost every case, the technology focuses on slowing itself down, stopping even, to avoid an obstacle. Very rarely does it try this sort of hard steering input at speed.

The Lidar Elephant in the Room

And this brings us back to vision-based autonomous driving systems. Again, we humans use vision to determine how to control our cars. Tesla is trying to do that too, but it’s caught flack, and I suspect is about to catch far more, over its choice to skip using lidar and radar tech.

While vision can work, and obviously does for most people on most days, Lidar and radar offer the ability to easily see through bad weather conditions like fog or haze. They could simply be used as a redundancy to confirm what a vision-based system thinks it sees too. Nevertheless, Tesla ditched it years ago and its CEO Elon Musk appears committed to never bringing it back.

Reports From The Driver

According to the person who posted the videos on Reddit, he was going around 55 mph when the crash happened. He says of the experience, “I loved the FSD until this happened. I was a full believer in autonomous vehicles until this happened to me. Lesson learned.” Thankfully, the only injuries he suffered included a cut on his chin, some lower-back discomfort, and “emotional damage,” as he calls it.

It’s worth pointing out that there are many unknowns here. While there appears to be no reason to suspect these videos and their description are inaccurate, there could be more to the story that we’re not being told. If that doesn’t end up being the case, though, Tesla is likely in a lot of hot water over this. The owner has submitted requests for all of the data relating to the crash so hopefully more of that sees the light of day.

Previous crashes involving the software typically offered some sort of purchase for Tesla defenders to cling to. Based on everything available in the four videos here, it appears as though FSD just made its most blatant mistake in the public sphere.

If this is possible with the hardware and software running Tesla’s planned Robotaxi service, it might have to be even more careful than it’s already planning on being. When asked if he’d ever buy another Tesla, the owner of this car’s words were damning. “I want another but would NEVER use FSD again.” Yeah, I think we can all understand why.

2026 Charger Daytona Spawns A 670 HP Sedan

  • Dodge has introduced the 2026 Charger Daytona sedan, which is nearly identical to the coupe.
  • It weighs an additional 50 lbs and features a dual-motor all-wheel drive system with 630 hp.
  • Dealers are currently accepting orders and deliveries are slated to begin later this year.

Dodge has officially unveiled the 2026 Charger Daytona lineup, which includes an all-new liftback sedan. It closely echoes the coupe as the fascias, roofline, and liftgate are shared across body styles.

However, the new five-door variant promises to be far more practical even though interior and exterior dimensions remain unchanged. That means there is 37.2 inches (945 mm) of rear seat legroom as well as a cargo capacity of up to 37.4 cubic feet (1,059 liters).

Speaking of the interior, it comes nicely equipped with a 16-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch Uconnect 5 infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Buyers will also find a heated steering wheel, a dual-zone automatic climate control system, a garage door opener, and cloth/leatherette seats.

They’re joined by a long list of driver assistance systems that includes Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Active Driving Assist, and Active Lane Management. There’s also Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind-Spot Detection with Rear Cross Path Alert, and Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning.

Options Galore

While the standard model comes nicely equipped, the Plus trim adds fancier LED headlights, a power liftgate, and a frunk. The cabin gains a wireless smartphone charger, a 64-color ambient lighting system, a power tilt/telescoping steering column, a ParkView 360 surround view camera system, and an upgraded alarm.

Other options include a panoramic glass roof, an 18-speaker Alpine premium audio system, and a self-explanatory Carbon & Suede package. Customers can also get a Blacktop package that includes dark badging and 20-inch wheels with a dark finish.

Sticking with styling, there’s a new gloss black painted hood. 2026 models can also be equipped with matte black Fratzog stripes that have red accents as well as a repeating pattern.

AWD And 670 HP

The 2026 Charger Daytona lineup is offered exclusively in Scat Pack guise and this means there’s a 100.5 kWh battery pack as well as a dual-motor all-wheel drive system producing 630 hp (470 kW /  639 PS) and 627 lb-ft (849 Nm) of torque. However, a PowerShot function can deliver an additional 40 hp (30 kW / 41 PS) for 10 seconds at a time.

Both the sedan and coupe accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 3.3 seconds, run the quarter mile in 11.5 seconds, and have a top speed of 135 mph (217 km). Those are impressive numbers, but the 241 mile (388 km) range leaves a lot to be desired.

When it comes time to replenish the battery, a 350 kW DC fast charger can take it from 20-80% in just 24 minutes. With a more common 175 kW DC fast charger, the same process will take roughly 42 minutes. At home, you’re looking at around 5.4 hours to go from 20-80% with an 11 kW Level 2 charger.

Customers looking for maximum performance can get an optional Track package. It features 20-inch aluminum wheels that are backed up by a Brembo braking system with red six- and four-piston calipers. The package also includes a dual valve adaptive damping suspension, a gloss black rear spoiler, a drive experience recorder, and leather/suede performance seats with fixed headrests.

Now Up For Order

Dodge is currently accepting orders for the 2026 Charger Daytona coupe and sedan. The company didn’t mention pricing, but deliveries are scheduled to begin in the second half of this year.

However, you might want to hold off as the Charger Sixpack is also coming later in 2025. It’s notable for featuring a twin-turbo 3.0-liter Hurricane inline-six that will have outputs of 420 hp (313 kW / 426 PS) and 550 hp (410 kW / 558 PS).

Stellantis Turns Small SUV Into An Electric Rally Weapon

  • The Opel Mokka GSE Rally is built to meet the FIA’s new eRally5 regulations.

  • It will be followed by a roadgoing Mokka GSE performance EV later this year.

Opel has given its GSE performance sub-brand for electric vehicles a fresh update, and before the first production model hits the streets, they’ve already rolled out a rally car. Named the Mokka GSE Rally, it’s a more rugged, performance-focused version of the compact SUV, featuring an electric powertrain and a suite of chassis upgrades.

Visually, the rally-ready Mokka stands out with a special livery featuring black, gray, and yellow graphics. It rolls on large alloy wheels with yellow brake calipers, and the sporty front and rear bumpers, along with a roof-mounted intake, set it apart from the standard Mokka Electric.

Some of these features, like the more aggressive body kit, will likely carry over to the roadgoing Opel Mokka GSE. This performance version of the electric SUV is expected to debut in late 2025, likely sharing specs with its mechanically similar counterparts, the Abarth 600e and Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce.

Back to the rally car, it is compatible with the FIA’s new eRally5 regulations and will eventually replace the Opel Corsa Electric Rally that has been around since 2019. The SUV is fitted with a single electric motor delivering 278 hp (207 kW / 280 PS) and 345 Nm (255 lb-ft) of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a multi-plate limited-slip differential and a racing transmission.

The 54 kWh battery pack is carried over from the Mokka Electric but gets added protection with a special encapsulation and underride guard. Chassis upgrades include a rally-spec suspension from Bilstein, with reinforced McPherson struts in the front and modified springs and dampers on the rigid rear axle. Additionally, the ABS, ESP, and traction control systems have been removed, giving drivers full freedom to push the Mokka to its limits across various terrains.

The interior of the rally car has been stripped out, and features a FIA-certified roll cage, as well as a pair of bucket seats with six-point harnesses. For safety, the 400-volt system will automatically shut down in the event of a collision, while the fire extinguishing system features an electrically non-conductive extinguishing agent.

Opel plans to offer the Mokka GSE Rally to private customers and teams starting in the 2026 rally season, but before that, you’ll get a chance to see the prototype in action at the ELE Rally Eindhoven in the Netherlands, set for May 23-24. This event is part of the ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup, which will feature the Corsa Rally Electric, another electrified rally contender.

Small hatchbacks may seem like they’ve taken a backseat to the SUV craze in Europe, but Nissan isn’t ready to abandon this segment just yet. Enter the sixth generation of the Micra, which has been revamped as an electric vehicle, sharing its bones with the Renault 5 E-Tech. However, the Micra sports its own unique and playful design that aims to stand out in a competitive market.

Designed at Nissan Design Europe’s London studio with European customers in mind, the new Micra sports some distinctive features. The standout design includes large, circular headlights and taillights, both equipped with body-colored inserts that nod to the 2011 Smart Forspeed Concept. When you lock or unlock the car, the front LEDs perform a little “wink” sequence.

A Nod to SUV Aesthetics, but Still a Hatchback

While the Micra may be compact, it borrows some visual cues from SUVs. Glossy black cladding wraps around the bumpers, profile, and wheel arches, adding a sense of ruggedness to its otherwise small frame. All trim levels come with 18-inch wheels in various designs, giving it a confident, planted look. And for those who love a good color combo, Nissan offers 14 different options, including two-tone combinations with either a black or gray roof.

Despite its updated features, the new Micra maintains the compact size of its predecessors, measuring in at under 4 meters (157.5 inches) long, with a slightly longer 2.54-meter (100-inch) wheelbase. Like most modern hatchbacks, it is exclusively available in a five-seat configuration.

Interior Features: Familiar Yet Distinct

Inside, the Micra borrows heavily from the Renault 5 E-Tech, with dual 10.1-inch screens and a similar dashboard layout. The main differences come down to Nissan’s branding and a few personalized touche, like the molded outline of Mount Fuji between the front seats. The boot offers a modest 326 liters (11.5 cubic feet) of space, perfect for smaller urban adventures.

The new Micra rides on the AmpR Small architecture (CMF-BEV) and is available in two versions. The entry-level model combines a 121 hp (90 kW / 122 PS) electric motor with a 40 kWh battery pack offering 308 km (191 miles) of WLTP range. The more potent version upgrades to a 148 hp (110 kW / 150 PS) motor and a larger 52 kWh battery, expanding the range to 408 km (254 miles).

The second option is compatible with 100 kW DC charging, allowing the 15-80% charge to be completed in 30 minutes. Both battery packs have Vehicle-to-Load tech for powering external devices and come standard with a heat pump, as well as battery heating and cooling capability.

Nissan claims the Micra delivers “best-in-class” ride and handling, boasting a low center of gravity, optimized weight (ranging from 1,400 to 1,524 kg / 3,087 to 3,360 lbs), quick steering, and a suspension setup with a multi-link rear axle. Of course, Renault made the same claim about the R5 E-Tech when it launched in 2024, so maybe take that with a pinch of salt.

Pricing and Availability

The Micra is expected to hit European dealers in late 2025, though pricing won’t be confirmed until closer to launch. However, don’t expect it to be cheaper than the Renault 5 E-Tech, which starts at around €25,000. The Micra is positioned as a more premium option in the lineup, and will soon be joined by other electric models like the Juke and the upcoming Leaf crossover.

Cadillac’s electric revolution is well underway, and it got off to a fantastic start with the Lyriq. Launched in 2022, the model has become the best-selling luxury EV in America and now accounts for roughly 20% of Cadillac sales. It’s also introducing new people to the brand as it has an impressive conquest rate of 80%.

While the Lyriq was the tip of the spear, the battle is now raging on all fronts as the company’s electric lineup has grown to include five models. One of the latest is the 2026 Vistiq, which is the de facto successor to the XT6. It’s a huge leap forward, although it falls a little short of being a ‘baby’ Escalade.

Large and imposing, the Vistiq follows in the footsteps of the Lyriq and Escalade IQ as it adopts an illuminated Black Crystal Shield grille, flanked by split lighting units. They immediately tell onlookers this isn’t just any electric vehicle, it’s a Cadillac EV.

The boldness gives way to an understated design further back as the flanks have streamlined bodywork and flush-mounted door handles. They’re joined by a long, sloping roof that can be painted in contrasting black.

More notably, there’s a Mondrian graphic on the third quarter glass, which could likely prove divisive. Cadillac says it’s there to provide a sense of motion as well as privacy for third-row occupants, but it’s not my cup of tea. On the bright side, the pattern doesn’t have much of an impact on the otherwise excellent visibility from inside.

While the window treatment is a bit garish, the sleek bodywork enables the crossover to have a drag coefficient of 0.29. That trails the Mercedes EQS SUV by a small margin, but it’s pretty impressive for a vehicle that measures 205.6 inches (5,222 mm) long, 86.7 inches (2,203 mm) wide, and 71 inches (1,804 mm) tall. For those wondering, that’s 7.1 inches (180 mm) longer than the XT6, but 18.7 inches (475 mm) shorter than the Escalade IQ.

121.8 inches (3,094 mm) separate the wheels, which are available in a variety of sizes and designs. 21-inchers come standard, although higher-end trims sport 22-inchers with 23-inch kicks being optional.

That brings us to the rear end, which is fairly conservative when compared to the more adventurous Lyriq. It sports split taillights as well as a power liftgate, which is activated by touching the Cadillac emblem.

There’s a saying that ‘It’s what’s on the inside that counts’, and the Vistiq didn’t disappoint as our Premium Luxury tester was a sight to behold. The Phantom Blue seats immediately stand out thanks to their eye-catching color and premium design, which incorporates quilted accents as well as contrast piping.

The comfy chairs feature heating, ventilation, and a massage function that can be operated from either the door panel or the 8-inch command center. The seats also feature 8-way power adjustment as well as a memory function on both sides.

While the blue seats grab your attention, they’re not the only standout feature, as there’s beautiful Lumen open-pore wood trim as well as microfiber upholstery. Other highlights include stylized speaker grilles, metallic accents, and Cadillac-specific switchgear.

It’s also impossible to ignore the curved 33-inch display that functions as a digital instrument cluster and infotainment system. It’s clean and bright, although not completely intuitive.

A prime example of this is hidden settings for the augmented reality heads-up display, which Cadillac made a big fuss about. The display was positioned out of my sightline, but I couldn’t find the menu to move it. It was only later that someone else discovered you had to swipe sideways on the far left section of the 33-inch display to get to a menu screen to access HUD settings.

That isn’t the only issue, as the steering wheel can block your view of the display. This isn’t much of a problem most of the time, but it can hide messages related to Super Cruise and automated lane changes.

The second-row captain’s chairs feel like first-class accommodations as they’re comfortable, supportive, and have a heating function as standard. They also slide and recline, making it easy to get situated.

Once settled in, passengers can fine-tune their environment on the 8-inch rear command center. This comes in handy as the Vistiq has a five-zone climate control system, so everyone can tailor settings to their liking.

The first two rows are covered by a dual-pane panoramic sunroof with a power-retractable sunshade. It’s accompanied by a fixed glass roof above the third row, which helps to make the rear seat feel open and airy.

Speaking of which, Cadillac officials called the rear seats a “no compromise” third row. That certainly seems to be the case as they have the same stylish Nouveauluxe upholstery as those up front. This is notable as some companies cut corners on the third row by using cheaper materials or by eschewing embellishments.

Rear seaters will find plenty of amenities, including padded armrests, cup holders, and air vents. They’re joined by USB-C charging ports and a decent amount of legroom. With the second row slid all the way back, this 6’2” scribe could be comfortable enough for a short trip in the third row. However, if second-row passengers slide their seats forward a bit, the third row becomes truly adult-friendly.

It’s also worth noting there’s plenty of headroom in back, while entry and egress is good. However, it wasn’t perfect as our tester had a glitchy release for the second-row passenger seat. This forced us to hit the button while also pushing the seat forward in order to get it to move.

When it comes to hauling cargo, the second- and third-row seats have a power folding function that opens up 80.2 cubic feet (2,271 liters) of space. There’s also 43 cubic feet (1,218 liters) behind the second row and 15.2 cubic feet (430 liters) behind the third row.

While many entry-level models skimp on equipment, the Vistiq Luxury boasts a long list of standard fare. This includes a heated power steering wheel as well as heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats. They’re joined by heated rear seats, a dual wireless smartphone charger, and a 23-speaker AKG Studio Audio system with Dolby Atmos. Buyers will also find alloy pedals, illuminated door sill plates, a rear camera mirror, ambient lighting, and Google built-in. The latter provides access to Google Assistant, Google Maps, and the Google Play store.

305 Miles Of Range And V-Series Performance

The heart of the Vistiq is a 102 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which feeds a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 615 hp (459 kW / 624 PS) and 650 lb-ft (880 Nm) of torque. The powertrain is shared with the 2026 Lyriq-V and enables a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 3.7 seconds as well as tow up to 5,000 lbs (2,268 kg).

Needless to say, the Vistiq is impressively quick, leaving the Mercedes EQS SUV in the dust. The model also outguns the similarly priced Volvo EX90, which offers up to 510 hp (380 kW / 517 PS) in Performance guise.

Despite the impressive performance, the Vistiq can go the distance thanks to a range of up to 305 miles (491 km). That’s 5 miles (8 km) less than the Volvo, 7 miles (11 km) less than the EQS SUV 450 4MATIC, and 24 miles (39 km) less than the Tesla Model X.

Speaking of Tesla, the Vistiq has a Combined Charging System (CCS) port, meaning you’ll need to use an NACS adapter at Superchargers. That’s unfortunate, but the crossover’s 190 kW DC fast-charging capability can deliver up to 80 miles (129 km) of range in approximately 10 minutes.

The model comes standard with a dual-level charge cord, which can connect to an “appliance-style, four-prong outlet” to get up to 20.9 miles (33.6 km) of range per hour. If all you have is a traditional household outlet, you’ll only get up to 3.7 miles (6 km) of range per hour.

However, the Vistiq also supports 11.5 and 19.2 kW Level 2 charging. The former provides about 29 miles (46.7 km) of range per hour, while the latter boosts that to nearly 47 miles (75.6 km).

On the topic of power, the Vistiq has a bidirectional charging capability. When paired with a $7,299 GM Energy V2H Bundle, the crossover can power your home during a blackout.

A Smooth Operator With Standard Super Cruise

If you’ve driven a Lyriq, the Vistiq should feel pretty familiar, hardly a surprise given the similarities between the two models. Both ride on the BEV3 Ultium platform and put an emphasis on comfort.

This pays dividends for drivers as the Vistiq has a refined ride quality that is silky smooth, but not disconnected. Credit goes to a multi-link front and five-link rear suspension with semi-active dampers. However, our Premium Luxury tester is notable for featuring an Air Ride Adaptive suspension, which was remarkably comfortable even on dirt roads and broken pavement.

Despite a relaxed attitude, the Vistiq can hustle on back roads. The three-row luxury crossover felt planted and secure when chucked into corners at speed, although its hefty curb weight becomes apparent when you try to make it dance. It’s not bad, but you can’t ignore the rules of physics.

Given this is a family-friendly crossover, it’s not surprising that the electric power steering isn’t overly engaging. It’s direct and predictable, but even putting the crossover into Sport mode left me wishing for extra heft and a livelier experience.

Sticking with that theme, the Premium Luxury is notable for having an active rear steering system. It turns the rear wheels up to 3.5 degrees to improve maneuverability at low speeds and stability at high speeds. This is a welcome addition as it helps the Vistiq to drive much smaller than it is, especially in tight parking lots.

To give you some perspective, the model has a turning diameter as tight as 38.2 feet (11.6 meters). That’s half a foot (152 mm) less than the smaller XT5 and XT6.

When it’s time to bring the action to a halt, customers can depend on a pair of capable brakes that measure 13.5 inches (343 mm) front and 13.6 inches (345 mm) rear. They’re certainly up to the task, but the range-topping Platinum trim is notable for adding six-piston Brembo front brakes measuring 16.1 inches (410 mm).

While we didn’t get a chance to try out the Brembos, the standard brakes work well and had no problem bringing the hefty crossover to a safe and predictable stop. However, they’re not the only way to slow the vehicle, as the Vistiq has a steering wheel-mounted Regen On Demand paddle. Pull it, and the regenerative brakes kick in to slow the luxury crossover. The model also offers a one-pedal driving mode, which is an acquired taste that may or may not be to your liking.

One of the most welcome things about the Vistiq is how quiet the interior can be. This can be chalked up to laminated glass, extensive sound deadening, and road noise cancellation technology. When traveling on dirt roads, the vehicle was impressively hushed, and the same was true at highway speeds.

Aiding the experience is a full complement of standard driver assistance systems. This includes an upgraded version of Super Cruise, which features more hands-on functionality, route-related lane changes, and automatic reengagement.

We’ll discuss the system a bit more in a later article, but the Vistiq also has Automatic Emergency Braking, Reverse Automatic Braking, and Rear Cross Traffic Braking. They’re joined by Forward Collision Alert, Blind Zone Steering Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, an HD Surround Vision system, and OnStar.

Cadillac appears to have another winner on their hands as the Vistiq offers an impressive blend of luxury, performance, and capability. It’s also a ‘proper’ three-row crossover, unlike the Tesla Model X and Mercedes EQS SUV. This alone helps the model to stand out, as there isn’t much direct competition besides the Volvo EX90.

Aside from filling a gap in the market, the Vistiq offers Blackwing levels of power and acceleration. Despite this, the crossover has a comfortable and refined ride as well as 305 miles (491 km) of range. While a few minor details detract from the experience, the model builds on the Lyriq and pushes the bar even higher.

Unfortunately, pricing is steep as the model starts at $77,395 before a $1,695 destination fee. Moving up to a Premium Luxury trim like our tester would set you back $93,590.

That’s a far cry from the 2025 XT6, which begins at $52,690 in AWD guise. However, the Vistiq undercuts the Volvo EX90 and is only a few thousand dollars more than the range-topping Hyundai Ioniq 9 Calligraphy. This makes it a pretty compelling three-row luxury EV, even if it has to live in the shadow of the Escalade IQ.

Tesla Owner Hacks Model Y To Charge On Gas

Even today, when most populated areas of the US and Europe provide access to at least some EV charging points, it’s all too easy to succumb to the panic of range anxiety when the remaining charge indicator lights up red. Now imagine you’re trying to explore rural Asia and you’ll understand why one EV owner came up with an unusual method of keeping range anxiety at bay.

The Chinese Tesla owner, who wanted to visit the Mount Everest viewing platform in Lazi County before road-tripping through uninhabited areas of Tibet, decided to turn his fully-electric Model Y into a kind of range-extender hybrid.

A Gasoline-Powered Back-Up Plan

To do it he mounted a gasoline generator to the rear of his SUV, complete with its own license plate to stay within the bounds of the law. The idea wasn’t to rely solely on the ICE power station and to avoid real static EV charging stations, but to help keep the Tesla going in remote areas where those chargers were few and far between.

While hardly capable of cranking out DC fast charging levels of power, the owner found it was still able to produce 3 kW even at the 17,400 ft (5,300 m) of the Everest viewing platform. That was enough to add 12 miles (19 km) of range per hour, though as Car News China points out, it’s not a true range extender because it can’t charge the Model Y on the move,

The owner, who’s known as @Xiaomo, reportedly paid ¥2,800 ($390) for the generator, which swallowed around 22 US cents’ worth of gas for every mile (1.6 km) covered. That makes running on gas more expensive than running on electricity piped in from a cheap mains supply in China, but it’s certainly preferable to finding yourself stranded in the middle of nowhere with a dead EV.

Tesla doesn’t seem interested in offering range extenders for its cars, but we’ve come across plenty more owners who’ve had the same idea, including one who added a turbo-diesel engine to the trunk of his Model S.

This Mustang GTD Rival Caught The Eye Of Stellantis Design Chief

It’s not every day a Stellantis design chief gives your senior thesis a shoutout on social media, but that’s exactly what happened to John Carioti. While working on his senior project at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Carioti created a stunning Dodge muscle car that caught the eye of none other than Ralph Gilles, Stellantis’ Chief Design Officer.

Gilles, who oversees the styling for brands like Jeep, Ram, Dodge, Chrysler, and Maserati, isn’t exactly a rookie when it comes to spotting standout concepts. The Stellantis exec shared Carioti’s work on Instagram, captioning the post “Once again @ccs_detroit Seniors are Fire! ##.” It’s the kind of exposure that most young designers can only dream of, and it’s safe to assume it can do wonders for Carioti’s career.

The [DODGE] project, which was part of an exhibition for the end of the academic year, looks like a worthy competitor to the Ford Mustang GTD,thanks to its oversized aero enhancements. It takes design cues from the Charger Daytona but features a smaller footprint, a fastback tail, and more aggressive proportions.

The front end is a showstopper. A massive chin spoiler leads the way, complemented by full-width LED headlights that flank a narrow pass-through grille. Air is directed through the grille and into a hollow vent on the hood. Given the Fratzog logos, it’s obviously designed for a fully electric powertrain. But hey, if your imagination drifts toward a supercharged Hemi V8 instead, no one’s going to judge you for it.

The profile is just as striking, with muscular fenders, sharp creases on the doors, and large alloy wheels. At the back, the design doesn’t disappoint. The LED bar under the active rear spoiler adds an extra layer of visual drama, and the rear deck does away with the windscreen, following the same trend popularized by brands like Polestar and Avatr. Carioti has also presented a version with a fixed rear wing, which perfectly complements the rear diffuser.

While Dodge is struggling to sell the electric Charger Daytona and is leaning heavily on the upcoming ICE-powered Charger SixPack, Carioti’s design offers a glimpse into what the future of muscle cars could look like. Sure, the public might not be fully ready for electric muscle cars just yet, but that’s no reason to disregard his vision.

As with most senior thesis projects, the [DODGE] is purely a design exercise with no plans for production. However, it’s a concept that could easily be adapted to house a Hemi V8, tapping into the more traditional, hardcore muscle car fanbase.

Carioti expressed his gratitude to Gilles for the shoutout, and we sincerely hope this marks the beginning of a successful career. With talent like his, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him helping to shape the future of muscle cars (well, yes, and SUVs, it goes with the territory these days…) at a Stellantis design studio.

Cybertruck Came Back From Tesla Service With 26,000 Miles Less And That’s The Least Of Its Worries

Service experiences: like most things in life, they are not always the same. Some are exemplary, most range from quite good to satisfactory, others are bad – and then there are these ones. Imagine dropping your prized six-figure possession off at a service center for a few minor fixes, only to get it back with more issues than you started with, including, bizarrely, a completely wiped odometer. That’s what one unlucky Tesla Cybertruck owner had to endure, as detailed in a head-scratching thread.

In the words of the owner, “My CyberBeast went in for a spa day and came back a newborn, with a lazy eye and a missing limb.” That’s the almost unbelievable title to a new thread over at CybertruckOwners. In it, one member describes one of the strangest service experiences we’ve heard about in a while. Not only did Tesla’s service not address all of the issues this Cybertruck had, they gave it back to the customer after wiping the odometer. This wasn’t a rollback. This was more of a ‘never was.’

Notably, this is a Cyberbeast we’re talking about. The most expensive version at over $100,000, and one would like to hope, most carefully crafted cars Tesla makes. The owner dropped it off for a handful of minor things. He wanted a new light bar installed, he asked Tesla to nudge a few panel gaps so that they’d line up better, and the service team needed to address an on-again-off-again ABS alert.

Service Day Turns Into a Nightmare

According to his post, Tesla promised to have it all done by Thursday of that week. When that fell through, the service team moved his pickup day to Friday, and sure enough, by 5:30 p.m., it was ready… or so he thought. When he arrived, a few things weren’t quite right. The truck didn’t remember his phone, trim was hanging down under the glove box, and the odometer read zero.

As he puts it, “My 26 k-mile CyberBeast is now a CyberBaby. Shot a video while the “count” rolled from 0 → 1 as I left the lot. App and service menu agree — factory-fresh, just ignore the 5 months of road-trip Dorito dust.” To make this even clearer, it wasn’t a glitch. Based on whatever happened while the truck was in service, every source of information about his mileage agreed.

Just to hammer the point home, the owner even included a video showing the odometer moving from 0 to 1 mile as he drove away. However, that wasn’t even the worst of it. The light bar installation? Well, let’s just say it looked like it had been done by someone who didn’t quite understand what the word symmetry means. There was a half-inch gap on one side and none on the other. And (because, why not?) there was a loose bolt in the tailgate and a trim panel that wasn’t even properly attached.

At this point, he’s still trying to figure out what the proper solution is. Many on the forum believe Tesla missed a step, or several, near the end of service. Regardless, it’s not a good look for a company already working hard to improve its public image

The reception to the all-electric Dodge Charger Daytona has been, well, less than enthusiastic. Critics have pointed out that it’s too heavy, too bulky, and, frankly, feels somewhat half-baked. To top it off, it doesn’t set your pulse racing the way the classic V8-powered Challenger did. Things have gotten so rough that Dodge has decided to pull the plug on the base Daytona R/T for the 2026 model year, leaving only the Scat Pack as the remaining option.

So, how does the Charger Daytona Scat Pack stack up against the competition? Edmunds recently put it head-to-head with one of the best value-for-money electric performance cars around right now, the Tesla Model 3 Performance, in their U-Drag race.

Edmunds’ U-Drag Race pits two cars against each other in a straight-up test of acceleration and handling, with real-world drag racing and tight cornering on display. It’s a test of how these cars actually perform when pushed to their limits.

Price Gap: More Than Just a Numbers Game

Let’s talk numbers for a moment. The Tesla comes in at a much lower price, $56,630 with destination charges included, while the Charger Daytona Scat Pack starts at $70,190 with no options. Add in a few optional features, and that gap widens to nearly $28,000. Both cars qualify for the $7,500 federal tax credit. But let’s not get distracted by the price just yet; it’s time to talk performance.

Tesla’s Clear Edge in Acceleration

Accelerating away from the line, the Model 3 Performance has the clear advantage. Tesla says its twin electric motors combine to produce 510 hp and 554 lb-ft (751 Nm), whereas Dodge says the Charger Scat Pack is good for 670 hp and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm). On paper, it’s a tight match. The more powerful Dodge claims a 0-60 time of 3.3 seconds, while Tesla states the Model 3 Performance hits 60 mph with a rollout in just 2.9 seconds.

In reality, not only does the Tesla easily pull away in both races, but even as the speeds exceed 60 mph, it continues to stretch ahead, arriving at the braking point well ahead of the Charger. In the first race, the driver of the Dodge was able to close the distance under braking, but the Model 3 handles better and performs a tighter and quicker U-turn, thanks in part to its more neutral handling, the reviewers note.

During its tests, Edmunds recorded a best 0-60 mph time in the Tesla of 3.1 seconds and 3.7 seconds for the Dodge. The Model 3 then stormed down the quarter mile in 11.3 seconds at 122.1 mph (196.4 km/h), compared to the 12.0 seconds of the Dodge at 118.7 mph (191.0 km/h). Interestingly, the Charger had the advantage in lateral grip, pulling a peak of 1.19G compared to the Tesla’s 1.13G. But, that wasn’t enough to make up for its slower acceleration.

Set to debut in September ahead of its 2025 release, this electric model will be based on Renault Scenic E-Tech and marks the next step in the growing collaboration between the two brands in Europe.

The new Eclipse Cross will join a roster of Renault-derived electrified models, including the Colt (based on the Clio), the ASX (built on the Captur), and the Grandis (which is actually a rebadged Renault Symbioz). A Familiar Design with Subtle Tweaks

So far, the only official glimpse of the new Eclipse Cross shows us a few design details, such as the wheels, grille patterns, flush door handles, and some badges on the tailgate. Earlier teasers hinted at a unique lighting signature to set it apart from its Renault twin. The EV was crafted with input from Mitsubishi’s design team in Germany, incorporating the next evolution of the brand’s Dynamic Shield front-end design.

As for the cabin, Mitsubishi promises a spacious and versatile setup that’s perfect for families. Based on the Renault Scenic, expect a two-row, five-seat configuration with a 545-liter (19.2 cubic feet) boot. The interior will also feature Google built-in infotainment and an advanced suite of driver assistance systems (ADAS).

Powertrains and Variants: What to Expect

Initially, the next Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross will launch with a long-range variant, with a mid-range version slated to follow in 2026. These versions will likely mirror the specifications of the Renault Scenic E-Tech, which offers 60 kWh and 87 kWh battery options. Powertrains will include a single-motor setup with 168 hp (125 kW / 170 PS) and a dual-motor version with 215 hp (160 kW / 218 PS).

The new model will compete in the compact SUV segment (C-SUV), which is the largest in Europe. Production will be carried over by Renault at the Ampere Electricity facility in Douai, France, right next to the Scenic E-Tech.

The North American Future and a Lingering Question

Mitsubishi has also confirmed it will launch another electric crossover for North America in the summer of 2026. This will be based on the upcoming Nissan Leaf and will be slightly smaller than the European Eclipse Cross.

The original Eclipse Cross, which has been around since 2017, received a mid-cycle refresh in 2020. However, with the internal combustion engine version nearing the end of its life cycle, the fate of the nameplate outside of Europe is still up in the air.

Stellantis Brand Teases Hot SUV With Electric Power

Opel has announced that its GSE sub-brand for performance models will go fully electric, abandoning its previous route of plug-in hybrid powertrains. The first model of this new era will be the Mokka GSE, which is expected to debut later this year.

Introduced in 2022, Opel and Vauxhall’s GSE performance sub-brand initially included electrified models with plug-in hybrid powertrains. The Astra hatchback, Astra Sports Tourer estate, and Grandland SUV all received GSE versions, featuring a sharper chassis setup and more dynamic performance. However, starting this year, the GSE name will be rebranded with a fresh logo and applied exclusively to fully electric vehicles.

What Does GSE Really Stand For?

According to Opel, G stands for Grand, German engineering, goosebumps, great grip and G-forces, S stands for Sport, speed, sweat and sliding through S-curves, while E stands for Electric, excitement, exhilaration and euphoria. German humor at its finest.

The GSE models will sport a more aggressive look and feature an upgraded chassis setup that aims to “directly integrate the driver” and offer “exciting driving pleasure.” According to the company, these performance EVs are designed to be “stable when braking, cornering, and at high speeds on the Autobahn.” So, don’t expect any track-focused beasts, it’s more about sharp handling on real-world roads.

Details about the electric powertrains haven’t been shared yet, so it’s unclear whether there will be significant improvements in that area.

The Mokka GSE: A Sneak Peek

The Mokka will be the first model to wear the GSE badge, with a market launch scheduled for 2025. The small SUV is expected to follow a similar performance path as the Abarth 600e and Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce, producing up to 278 horsepower (207 kW / 280 PS) from a single electric motor mounted on the front axle.

A teaser image shows the Mokka GSE will likely feature special decals, along with redesigned bumpers, larger alloy wheels, and brake calipers finished in a striking yellow. Note that the current generation Mokka was introduced in 2020 and received a mild facelift in 2024.

Judging from recent spy shots, the Grandland is also expected to gain the GSE moniker, with similar styling and chassis upgrades.

Opel has also launched an “OMG! GSE” campaign, designed to communicate the feeling of driving one of their new electric performance models for the first time. CEO Florian Huettl stated: “The GSE sub-brand stands for particularly dynamic, exhilarating, and emotional Opel models. In 2025, we will take the next important step. The new GSE models will be fully electric. This demonstrates how powerful, exciting, and inspiring battery-electric mobility can be.”

They’ve started selling a mirror delete kit for the electric pickup, which will make your vehicle look a little less… conventional. But before you rush to buy one, it’s worth checking whether your state even allows driving without wing mirrors. After all, you might end up with a ticket instead of a cleaner-looking truck.

Many states across the United States require cars to have both left and right wing mirrors, while others require at least one wing mirror. For states where mirrors aren’t explicitly required in local legislation, such as Alabama, Georgia, Iowa, and Montana, this is an intriguing way to make your Cybertruck look a little nicer(?).

When the mirrors of the Cybertruck are removed, an ugly hole is left behind on the door. Tesbros solution is a small stainless steel plate and a piece of ABS plastic to cover up the mess. The plate’s underside mimics that of the mirror and screws into place, securing it and ensuring it’s sturdy. Tesbros says the kit has been designed to work in all different conditions, including in states like Arizona, where it gets very hot in the summer.

The small piece of stainless steel used has been cut from a scrap Tesla Cybertruck door that Tesbros was able to secure, meaning it matches up nicely. However, they only had enough stainless steel to produce 80 kits, and it seems the entire first batch has already sold out. A future version of the kit, likely made from aluminum, is in development, with a plastic version also under consideration.

The original stainless kit wasn’t exactly a bargain, priced at a staggering $299 for what’s essentially two pieces of stainless steel and two bits of ABS plastic. And just to add a little more drama to the mix, at least one user on the Cybertruck Owners Club reported that after installing the kit, the adhesive holding the ABS piece to the stainless steel gave way, causing it to fly off on the highway. However, they did note that the company sent replacements which appear to be fine.

The Middle East is home to an impressive array of supercars and exotic vehicles, which, unsurprisingly, sometimes meet unfortunate fates. These damaged cars often end up in junkyards, where they are dismantled for spare parts. Hagerty recently explored some of the vast automotive graveyards of Dubai and unearthed a few noteworthy discoveries, most notably, a wrecked example of the brand-new Lotus Eletre.

Lotus introduced its first fully electric SUV, the Eletre, in 2022, though deliveries didn’t officially begin until 2024. The example found in the junkyard doesn’t appear to have any obvious cosmetic damage, so those shiny yellow body panels might still be good for salvage. However, the air suspension has failed, causing the car to sit lower than usual, and the door handles are popped out, likely due to some internal issues.

While the specific details of the Lotus Eletre’s condition are unclear, it’s possible that it was involved in one of the flash floods reported in the refion, which could easily spell the end for any car, especially one with so much advanced electronics inside. Depending on how high the water reached, the electronics could be toast, and the cabin could have taken on some serious damage.

An Unexpected Collection of Exotics

This yellow Eletre is just one of many sporty and luxury vehicles that keep piling up in Dubai’s junkyards. Well-known automotive photographer Larry Chen, based in Los Angeles, recently toured one of these vast yards, showcasing a variety of damaged vehicles from brands like Bentley, Rolls-Royce, McLaren, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Aston Martin, and Maserati.

According to Chen, it was likely one of the most colorful junkyards he’s ever visited, thanks to the eye-catching color palettes found in high-end cars.

The video, shared on Hagerty’s YouTube channe, offers a closer look at the incredible variety of vehicles and their varying degrees of damage. As Chen pointed out, the junkyard is well-organized, with specific rooms dedicated to various car parts.

That’s good news for anyone hoping to salvage some components, because, as he noted, some parts can be eye-wateringly expensive. A set of carbon ceramic brakes, for example, could cost up to $50k when purchased new. The same applies for body panels, accessories, and mechanical components from high-end cars like the V12-powered Ferrari 812 Superfast.

A nearby junkyard also focuses on American muscle cars, from brands like Ford, Chevrolet, and Dodge, providing spare parts to meet the demand in that market.

Overall, Chen was impressed by the range of enthusiast vehicles found in the junkyard, a rare sight in many US-based yards. These types of cars, often worth far more than a standard junkyard find, tell an interesting story of how some of the world’s most coveted machines can end up discarded. A Cybertruck driver recently found himself in a terrifying situation after what he claims was an aggressive move by another motorist on a California highway ended with his truck upside down. The incident occurred in broad daylight near Ukiah, and the entire event was captured by the Tesla’s onboard cameras.

The footage, later shared on YouTube by the Wham Baam Teslacam channel, shows how the crash unfolded. A black Ram 1500 overtakes the Cybertruck, then abruptly cuts into the right lane just ahead of it. Moments later, the Ram driver taps the brakes, prompting the Cybertruck driver to move left in an attempt to pass. That’s when things take a turn – literally.

The Ram swerves into the Tesla’s path, pulling off what appears to be an unintentional PIT maneuver that forces the Cybertruck off the highway. As it veers off the road, the slad-sided electric truck slams sideways into a ditch, causing it to roll over. While the truck lay upside down, its sensors detected the crash and automatically alerted emergency services. Fortunately, the driver wasn’t seriously injured, though he was taken to the hospital by ambulance after reporting back pain.

According to the Tesla owner, he had no prior interaction with the Ram driver, something he says is backed up by the footage he shared with police. After reviewing the video, the California Highway Patrol has reportedly charged the Ram driver with vehicular assault, though official confirmation from authorities has not been released publicly.

The aftermath wasn’t kind to the Tesla. The truck sustained heavy damage to its roof, wheels, suspension, and body panels. It later appeared on Copart, looking far worse for wear. Some parts may be salvageable, but the cost of repairing such a heavily damaged vehicle likely outweighs any benefit. The driver is presumably seeking reimbursement through his insurance provider.

As for motive, nothing has been officially confirmed. However, the incident brings to mind other recent reports of road rage or hostility directed at Tesla drivers. Unlike the usual vandalism or minor clashes, though, this sort of encounter could have ended far more dangerously. With any luck, the Ram driver, if found responsible, will think twice before acting on impulse behind the wheel.

Kia Tasman Isn’t Done Yet And Big Changes Are Already In Motion

Kia’s midsize truck, the Tasman, is just getting started and is expected to stick around for quite a while, according to a high-ranking company official. However, it won’t remain frozen in time. Along the way, it’ll see upgrades including, in all likelihood, a styling refresh and, more notably, hybrid and fully electric variants.

The update comes via Roland Rivero, General Manager of Product Planning at Kia Australia. Speaking with CarExpert, Rivero described the Tasman’s ladder-frame chassis as a “fairly modular platform” that can accommodate “numerous powertrains.”

Hybrid and EV Versions on the Table

Depending on the market, the Tasman is currently offered with gasoline and diesel engines, but electrified versions are on the horizon. Rivero confirmed that Kia is actively “studying and reviewing” both hybrid and fully electric variants, though he stopped short of committing to a specific timeline for their launch.

One possible setup involves pairing the turbocharged 2.5-liter gasoline engine that’s available in the Korean market with a self-charging hybrid system, like what Hyundai is doing with the latest Palisade. Such a move could position the Tasman to compete directly with electrified midsize trucks like the BYD Shark and Ford Ranger Plug-in Hybrid.

As for the fully electric Tasman, expect a dual-motor setup providing all-wheel drive. This version would go up against the zero-emission trucks being developed by Toyota and Isuzu, including electric versions of the Hilux and D-Max.

Kia’s local head of Product Planning said the Tasman’s lifecycle will follow the typical pattern for light commercial vehicles, lasting “anywhere from 8 to 12 years.” To keep demand strong over that span, Kia plans to update and refine the midsize truck in a variety of ways.

Weekender Concept Shows What’s Possible

Some of those future styling updates might take cues from the recently revealed Tasman Weekender concept, which debuted at the 2025 Seoul Mobility Show. While Rivero emphasized that the Weekender is “just a concept” for now, he acknowledged that it could influence future updates, saying there’s “plenty of opportunity to enhance the Tasman” throughout its run.

The concept gets wider, body-colored fenders, redesigned bumpers, a more pronounced hood, and chunkier tires over the production model. These could make their way into a tougher, off-road-oriented variant of the Tasman, a move in line with the growing popularity of factory-built rugged trucks, led by models like the Ford Ranger Raptor.

In any case, it appears that Kia has plenty of ideas about the future of the truck, enhancing its presence as a newcomer in this competitive segment. Until a facelift arrives, owners of the Tasman can rely on the numerous available accessories, tailored for different use-case scenarios.

Sometimes your car just breaks. Other times, it breaks, sits for two months, gets stolen, wrecked, and leaves you holding the bag. This is the story of how one Hyundai Ioniq 5 owner’s unlucky repair turned into a cautionary tale about EV parts, dealership security, and what happens when everything goes wrong at once.

On March 16, nearly two months ago, Massachusetts resident Ethan Blount’s Hyundai Ioniq 5 abruptly stopped working. The culprit was the ICCU, a part already known for causing problems in the Ioniq 5 lineup. It failed, leaving Blount stranded, and he had the car towed to his local dealership.

At the time, he had no idea it would be the last time he’d see the vehicle in one piece. On May 2, the car was stolen from the dealership. When police eventually located it and gave chase, the situation ended with the Hyundai totaled and Blount left underwater.

A Part With a Pattern of Failure

But let’s rewind. The ICCU (Integrated Charging Control Unit) plays a central role in the Ioniq 5’s electrical system. It manages the bi-directional charging between the 12V battery and the main high-voltage battery, which is responsible for powering essential systems, external devices, and even other EVs.

When it fails, the result is a completely immobilized vehicle. Dozens of Ioniq 5 owners have reported similar failures. In Blount’s case, the delay in repair came down to a parts shortage, with replacements on back order. So his EV sat, unusable and unguarded, for almost two months.

He tells The Autopian that he knew about the ICCU and suspected it immediately when he heard a loud pop. “I got only a mile or so before power started dropping precipitously, and pulled off the main road just in time. I contacted Hyundai and they dispatched a tow truck, taking my car to the nearest dealer,” says Ethan.

A Strange Notification, Then Silence

Then, on May 1, he received a notification via his Hyundai mobile app that the car was left on and idling. Good news, he thought, since it couldn’t do that without being fixed. The next day, everything fell apart. The dealer called and confirmed that the car was fixed but, strangely, they couldn’t find it.

Ethan whipped out his phone and tracked the car. It was in Boston, nowhere near the dealership. He called the police who tried to move in and secure the car, but clearly that didn’t work. The occupants sped off in it, ultimately lost control a short time later, hit a fire hydrant, and then smashed into a church. The impact was such that the Ioniq 5 was seriously damaged. The airbags all deployed, and the front is completely smashed in.

Boston police arrested three people at the scene, but they’ve left Blount in a tough spot. “Due to the rapid depreciation of the car I’m worried about what I will be offered by my insurance company since they declared it totaled today,” he said. “I fear I could end up still owing money and not even owning a car.”

In a positive turn though, Hyundai reached out to him two days ago, promising to help. Perhaps this entire saga will end up with the happy ending Blount clearly wants.

Cybertruck Was Just Charging Until Chaos Showed Up With A V8 And No Grip

Charging an electric vehicle can sometimes be a really peaceful experience. Some models even offer the ability to watch TV or play games during the process. One Cybertruck owner had that peace ruined recently when a Dodge Charger driver lost control and rammed his pickup. It just so happens that another Tesla owner caught the entire situation on camera too.

The situation unfolded at the Destiny USA mall in Syracuse, New York. There, a Model Y owner says that the folks in the Dodge nearly hit him. “I was out for a walk when I nearly got hit by these [explicit]. A moment later, I heard their engine rev and I KNEW they were going to do something stupid. So I started recording,” he wrote on Reddit.

He couldn’t have been more correct about his assertion. Despite having an expansive parking lot at their disposal, the driver of this Charger R/T begins a donut relatively close to nearby Teslas charging at a Supercharger station. He gets quite a slide going, complete with some opposite lock, too. When he straightens out, things go sideways in a more metaphorical sense, though.

First, he drives over a calming island near the parking lot entrance. For whatever reason, it’s only after clearing the island that he engages his brakes. Video shows that despite his brakes being on, the car has enough momentum to carry it into the next calming island on the other side of the entrance. When he hits that, the front end flies up and off the ground. Ultimately, the car comes back to earth and keeps rolling until it hits the driver’s side of the Cybertruck.

It’s clear from the video that the Dodge is not okay after the crash. Smoke is billowing from the front rather than from the rear tires. Part of the undercarriage protection is on the ground, and there is debris all over the lot, though it could be organic rather than bits of Mopar left behind. That said, the Cybertruck looks great for having just been hit by a car, even at a slow speed.

According to the Reddit post, the crash left motor oil and transmission fluid leaking out onto the ground. Meanwhile, the Cybertruck owner got out to check the damage and apparently found… none. “The truck looked completely fine!” the poster added. Safe to say, the Dodge driver got a little more Cybertruck than they bargained for.

Hyundai’s New Electric SUV Breaks Away from The Ioniq Lineup

At this point, it feels like Hyundai releases a new electric model every few weeks. But don’t worry, this one’s actually a little different. Meet the fully electric Elexio, a new SUV developed specifically for the Chinese market. It’s the latest creation from Beijing Hyundai, the joint venture with BAIC Motor, and it promises to deliver the latest tech and over 700 km (435 miles) of range on a single charge.

The SUV, which ditches the familiar Ioniq branding for a fresh name, made its debut at a special event in Shanghai. Hyundai plans to reveal the technical specifications at a later date. While the vehicle’s dimensions haven’t been disclosed yet, it seems to have a more compact footprint compared to the Hyundai Ioniq 9 available in other markets including North America.

Interestingly, the Elexio adopts a new design language that sets it apart from the Ioniq lineup. The front end features a grille-less look with sporty bumper intakes, complemented by a full-width LED bar below the horizontally mounted headlights. The profile stands out with sculpted fenders and a dark-finished D-pillar, which is visually connected to the rear spoiler. At the rear, the Elexio boasts high-mounted full-width LEDs, bold lettering, and some graphic elements on the bumper.

While Hyundai didn’t show any photos of the interior, they teased an “intelligent interface” with no physical buttons, alongside a new digital instrument cluster. The infotainment system will run on the Qualcomm SA8295 chip, delivering the latest connectivity features.

Inside, the design is said to focus on simplicity, with plenty of storage compartments. As for safety, the Elexio will be equipped with a range of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), offering Level 2+ autonomous driving capabilities.

Powertrain and Range

The new SUV rides on the E-GMP architecture, which already underpins numerous electric models from Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis. While the company didn’t share any details about the number of electric motors or their output, we do know that the platform is compatible with single- and dual-motor setups.

A battery of yet-to-be-revealed capacity is expected to provide over 700 km (435 miles) of range under normal conditions, though this figure is likely based on the Chinese CTLC testing protocols. Manufacturing and Future Plans

The new Elexio will be manufactured in China by Beijing Hyundai, with a local market launch expected in the coming months. Whether it will be offered outside China has not yet been confirmed.

Earlier this year, Hyundai announced a $1.1 billion investment in its joint venture with BAIC. This move aims to deliver electrified products tailored to the needs of Chinese customers while boosting exports. With declining sales in China due to intense local competition, Hyundai is hoping vehicles like the Elexio will help restore its foothold in the world’s largest automotive market.

Georgia School Bus Driver, 7 Children Charged After Student Attack

A Georgia school bus driver and seven students have been charged in relation to a violent attack of a 7-year-old student during a bus ride, reported WTOC.

According to the news report, a William James Middle School resource officer in Bulloch County received a report April 23 of an attack on the child during the morning bus route of April 18. Following the report, a criminal investigation into the incident was initiated.

Details from the investigation revealed that seven students ages 5 to 14 physically attacked a 7-year-old child during the bus ride to Mattie Lively Elementary School.

Capt. Todd Hutchens with the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office told local news reporters that one used his feet to stomp on the 7-year-old. Authorities said the nature of the attack was very violent, which led them to be very concerned for the safety of the 7-year-old as well as other children on the bus.

According to the article, the school nurse said the 7-year-old had multiple injuries, including heavy bruising. Video footage from the bus reportedly shows the seven students involved in the attack. Since then, all the students have been identified, suspended from school and charged with battery.

The bus driver, 70-year-old Joey Edwin Jackson, was also charged following the investigation. He faces charges of cruelty to children in the second degree and failure to report child abuse.

Hutches said via the article that Jackson did not pull over, did not call the bus garage to report an incident, and did not ask for help. Instead, he continued driving to the school. Jackson was fired for failing to follow mandatory reporter protocol. He had been employed by the district since October 2023.

Ferrari’s First Electric Car Will Keep Us Waiting Until 2026

We were all expecting Ferrari to pull the curtain back on its first EV, tentatively called the Elettrica, in October. But, as it turns out, the Italian automaker has decided to tease us with only a glimpse of the car’s “technological heart” during the fall, with the actual vehicle set to make its debut next spring.

Ferrari made this announcement during the release of its first-quarter financial report this week. CEO Benedetto Vigna offered little detail about the “technological heart” of the Elettrica, but it’s a safe bet he’s referring to the all-electric powertrain that will power the car.

While we don’t yet know how many motors the EV will pack or the exact size of its battery, we do know that the battery modules, inverters, and electric motors will all be developed and built in Maranello. Sure, Ferrari could have opted to source these components from a third-party supplier, but instead, they’ve chosen to keep it all in-house, a move that speaks to the brand’s commitment to maintaining control over its technology.

Customer Deliveries: A Long Wait Ahead

In addition to announcing that the first part of the Elettrica’s unveiling has been scheduled for October before a launch next spring, Vigna confirmed that customer deliveries will start in October 2026, according to an Auto News report.

Several prototypes of Ferrari’s highly anticipated EV have been spotted in recent months, sporting a mix of parts from existing models. It’s still unclear how closely these test mules will resemble the final production version, but one thing is certain: the Elettrica won’t be your typical sports car. In its Q1 report, Ferrari says that it shipped a total of 3,593 new cars this year, 33 more than it shipped in Q1 2024. Revenue also increased by 13% to €1.79 billion (~$2 billion), and net profit jumped by 17% to €412 million (~$467 million).
