Lexus is preparing to wind down production on several key models, signaling the end of an era for some of its longest-running nameplates. Most variants of the IS sedan, the RC coupe, and the fully electric UX SUV are on their way out, with production in Japan officially scheduled to stop in November 2025.

Those who visit the dedicated model pages on Lexus’ official website in Japan will see the following announcement:

“Thank you for considering our vehicles. Production of the IS 500 / IS 350 / IS 300h (AWD) / IS 300 / RC 350 / RC 300h, and RC 300 will end in November 2025. Sales will end once orders reach the production numbers for November. Depending on when you consider purchasing a vehicle, some packages may no longer be available. Please contact your Lexus dealer for details.”

A similar message (albeit with a more apologetic tone) appears on the page for the RC F Final Edition, which serves as a sendoff for the V8-powered coupe introduced in January 2025. This version was limited to just 200 units in Japan, and Lexus has confirmed that all of them have been spoken for:

“Thank you for your continued patronage of our products. We regret to inform you that the RC F ‘Final Edition’ has reached its limited number of 200 units and is now sold out. We would like to thank you for your continued patronage of the RC F. The RC ‘Final Edition’ will be on sale until production ends in November 2025.”

With this, only the rear-wheel-drive IS 300h will remain in production for the Japanese market, while all other IS and RC variants are being phased out.

An Aging Lineup But Changes are Coming

This development doesn’t come as a major surprise. Lexus recently introduced what are expected to be the final model year updates for both the IS sedan and the RC coupe. These vehicles date back to 2013, making them over a decade old. The IS received facelifts in 2017 and 2020, while the RC underwent a mid-cycle refresh in 2018.

As reported by Creative Trend, a new generation of the IS is rumored for 2026. Despite earlier plans for going EV-only, the new IS is expected to offer both electric and hybrid powertrain options, following the example of the larger Lexus ES sedan.

The situation is a little bit more complicated for the RC coupe, which might not get a direct successor. Instead, Lexus is reportedly working on a sporty coupe that could potentially replace both the RC and the LC. The latter is also in its twilight years, as hinted at by the recently-unveiled LC 500 Pinnacle Edition. The end date for the LC production is expected in 2026 although a specific date has yet to be set.

UX 300e Also Set to Exit

Last but not least, the automaker has also announced that production of its smallest electric SUV will end in November 2025. We’re talking about the UX 300e, that was unveiled in 2019, a year after the debut of the gasoline and hybrid versions of the UX in 2018.

Japanese newspaper Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun reports that the UX 300h hybrid is expected to follow, with production ending during the 2025 fiscal year, which concludes on March 30, 2026. While Lexus hasn’t announced a successor, the UX remains a globally marketed model in a highly competitive segment. Its close ties to the Toyota C-HR and Corolla Cross suggest a next-generation version is likely in development.

After a brief hiatus, Chevrolet’s popular electric hatchback is almost ready to make a comeback. General Motors is reviving the budget-friendly Bolt, promising it will return “better than ever” as part of the 2027 model year lineup. Teasers of the upcoming version offer a more detailed preview than usual, though the design appears to lean more toward a thorough refresh than a full redesign.

Back in December 2023, GM CEO Mary Barra confirmed that a new generation of the Bolt would debut in 2025, alongside a cryptic teaser that was focused on the model designation on the tailgate. Reports that followed in 2024 suggested that the Bold would return as a whole family of EVs. This time, however, Chevrolet has released clearer images that give a better sense of what’s coming.

Unlike the usual dimly lit teasers, the latest images show the 2027 Bolt out in the open, fully uncovered. Up front, it features a set of sharp-looking LED headlights with a familiar but more assertive appearance. These flank a slim grille with the Chevrolet emblem, while the lower bumper is textured and features a honeycomb-style cooling intake.

At the back, the taillights adopt a more conventional shape compared to the previous model, and are not attached to the rear glass anymore. Also visible is the updated NACS charging port on the front fender, which will allow Bolt owners to tap into Tesla’s Supercharger network. The black trim extending from the headlights remains a signature design detail, carried over from earlier versions.

Design Tweaks and Technology Updates

Chevrolet refers to the Bolt as “the first long-range, mass-produced EV available to customers at a truly affordable price.” The company says the upcoming version will build on that foundation with updates to the front fascia, rear lights, and charging hardware—plus “some other cool stuff” to be revealed later.

Together, the comments and visuals suggest that the 2027 Chevrolet Bolt will be a heavily redesigned version of the original that debuted in late 2016 and received a mid-lifecycle update in 2021 before being discontinued in late 2023.

While early reports pointed to the new Bolt switching to GM’s Ultium platform, now no longer referred to by that name, it appears that the car will continue to use a revised version of its previous BEV2 architecture. This updated platform will incorporate newer tech, and GM is expected to use a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack to help keep costs down.

Production of the previous Bolt EV and EUV ended in late 2023 at the Orion Assembly plant in Michigan. The upcoming model is slated to be built at the Fairfax factory in Kansas City.

Chevrolet says more information about the 2027 Bolt will be shared in the coming months. A full unveiling is expected before the end of the year, although whether deliveries will begin this year or in early 2026 remains to be seen. Pricing is expected to come in slightly above the outgoing version, which started at $28,795.

Even with the next-generation C9 Corvette likely deep in development ahead of its rumored 2029 debut, General Motors is already looking beyond. The company just offered a look even further down the line, imagining what a C10 could look like if it were drawn up today.

Their newly opened Advanced Design studio in Pasadena, California, pulled the cover off a striking new Corvette concept, one that leans hard into hypercar territory while rethinking the future of America’s most famous sports car.

Purists might want to look away, since this vision drops the V8 in favor of an all-electric powertrain. That choice appears to contradict recent comments from Corvette’s chief engineer, who suggested the sports car isn’t going fully electric any time soon. Then again, he did describe a fully electric Corvette as still firmly in the realm of “science fiction” which, in fairness, is what this concept is, even if it could loosely influence the eventual design of the real C10.

This is the second of three Corvette design studies scheduled to be revealed in 2025. It follows an earlier concept from GM’s European design team in the UK. According to GM, this project isn’t tied to production plans. Instead, the intent was to give designers full creative freedom to “reimagine what the Corvette could be.”

While GM stopped short of directly naming it the C10 in their release, the “C10” badge displayed on the front fender leaves little room for interpretation.

More than a Sports Car

Rather than resembling a Porsche 911 rival, the SoCal Corvette appears to have more in common with future hypercars from Koenigsegg or Rimac. It features aggressive mid-engine proportions, with bodywork that functions as part of the car’s aerodynamic system – similar to the Aston Martin Valkyrie.

The bumper intakes have hints of the C8 Corvette, combined with an F1-style carbon fiber front wing and ultra-slim LED headlights. The profile is mostly hollow, directing air to the massive rear diffuser. The rear end includes an active aero spoiler and air brake, design elements more commonly seen on high-performance exotics like Bugatti.

One of the standout features is the removable, front-hinged single-piece canopy. It lifts off to reveal a track-focused two-seat cabin. Inside, the cockpit includes a slim digital instrument cluster, an augmented-reality head-up display, and an additional screen mounted on a yoke-style steering wheel.

Sorry Folks, The Future’s Electric

Underneath, the Corvette concept is based on a carbon fiber tub and envisioned with a fully electric powertrain. GM notes the use of a T-shaped prismatic battery pack, which allows for low seating and improved airflow around and through the chassis. Back to the one-off Corvette hypercar, it measures 182.5 inches (4,669mm) long, 86 inches (2,184mm) wide, and only 41.4 inches (1,051 mm) tall, with a wheelbase of 109 inches (2,767mm). Compared to the current C8, it’s slightly longer and wider, with a much lower roofline. Its dramatic stance is accentuated by the futuristic alloy wheels measuring 21 inches at the front and 22 inches at the rear.

Global Vision, SoCal Lens

Brian Smith, design director, GM Advanced Design Pasadena explained the philosophy behind the project:

“Southern California has been at the heart of automotive and design culture for a century, and GM has had a deep design presence here for nearly 40 years. We wanted to ensure that this concept was developed through that SoCal lens, but with a global and futuristic outlook. Duality of purpose is the basis of this concept’s design strategy. The defining design aspect is the single-piece, front-hinged canopy than enables the entire upper shell to be removed, transforming the concept from an agile, slick sports car to a lightweight, open-air track car.”

We’re looking forward to the next Corvette concept that will be the work of a different design team, offering another perspective on the brand’s future. In addition to the Pasadena studio, GM also operates design centers in Detroit, Los Angeles, Leamington (UK), Shanghai, and Seoul, bringing a unique cultural influence to the table.

Small electric performance cars are picking up speed, and in Europe, Stellantis has quietly assembled a diverse lineup across its brands. Among them are the Abarth 600e, the Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce, the Lancia Ypsilon HF, and the upcoming Peugeot 208 GTI. Now Opel is joining the mix with a sportier take on the Mokka.

This electric variant kicks off Opel’s revamped GSE sub-brand with sharper styling and performance upgrades.

The fastest electric Opel (Vauxhall in the UK) model to date looks more aggressive than the regular Mokka, taking inspiration by the GSE Rally prototype that debuted last May. Black inserts in the front and rear bumpers emphasize the air intakes, and GSE badging on the grille and side panels signals its performance focus. The standout, however, is the set of 20-inch alloy wheels with a clean, aerodynamic design and bright yellow brake calipers, which look especially large on a compact SUV.

Inside the cabin, the upgrades continue. The front seats are trimmed in Alcantara and shaped for extra support, matched by similarly finished door inserts. A reshaped steering wheel, aluminum pedals, and white and yellow accents help differentiate the GSE from its tamer siblings. The dual 10-inch screens in the digital cockpit now include performance-focused graphics unique to this model, providing real-time data while driving.

Performance Matches Rivals

Power comes from a single electric motor producing 278 horsepower (207 kW or 280 PS) and 345 Nm (254.5 lb-ft) of torque. These figures are in line with the top-spec versions of the Abarth and Alfa Romeo counterparts, as well as the earlier GSE Rally concept. The front wheels handle all that power with the help of a Torsen limited-slip differential.

Opel claims the Mokka GSE can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in 5.9 seconds, while its top speed is capped at 200 km/h (124 mph. This makes the Mokka GSE quicker than the more powerful but heavier Grandland Electric AWD.

Besides having almost double the power of the standard Mokka Electric, the GSE features a unique chassis setup. The suspension has been lowered by 10 mm and includes dual hydraulic shock absorbers for better damping. The rear axle is stiffer, the steering has been retuned, and stopping power comes from Alcon brakes with 380 mm discs and four-piston calipers.

The Mokka GSE uses the same 54 kWh lithium-ion battery pack found in the regular Mokka Electric. However, due to the performance enhancements and extra hardware, the WLTP range is expected to fall short of the standard model’s 406 km (252 miles). Even so, the GSE keeps its weight under 1,600 kg (3,527 pounds), which is not bad for a fully electric crossover with this level of performance.

Details about the market launch and the pricing of the Opel Mokka GSE in Europe will be announced in the coming months. The model will also be available in the UK, albeit with Vauxhall emblems.

Tesla is facing mounting regulatory pressure in California as it prepares to defend how it markets its Autopilot and Full Self-Driving features. The hearing, set for next week, stems from earlier claims by the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) that the company misled consumers about the true capabilities of its driver-assistance systems.

The outcome could have significant consequences for Tesla’s business in California, as regulators are weighing whether to suspend or revoke the company’s dealer license, which authorizes it to sell vehicles in the state.

The case dates back to July 2022, when the California DMV alleged that Tesla overstated what its Autopilot and Full Self-Driving systems could do. According to the complaint, marketing materials gave the impression that Tesla vehicles were “able to conduct short and long-distance trips with no action required in the driver’s seat.”

Hearing Could Affect Tesla’s Operations in California

In June 2025, a California judge declined to dismiss the claims, ordering Tesla to appear before an administrative law judge in Oakland. The five-day hearing is set to begin Monday. As reported by Bloomberg, the regulator is seeking to suspend or revoke Tesla’s dealer license in California, putting the company’s ability to sell vehicles in the state at risk.

Tesla’s legal team argues that the contested marketing language is protected under free speech, and that statements about the company’s autonomous driving capabilities were taken out of context – omitting the disclaimers and warnings that the Autopilot requires “active driver supervision.”

Robotaxi Ambitions Add to the Stakes

At the same time, Tesla is seeking regulatory approval to expand its robotaxi program in San Francisco. If granted, a fleet of Tesla Model Y vehicles would operate autonomously, albeit with human supervision and within a geo-fenced area, The move would place Tesla in direct competition with Waymo, which already provides similar services in the city.

Separate Trial in Florida Raises Broader Safety Questions

Meanwhile, Tesla is embroiled in a jury trial in Miami over a 2019 crash involving a Tesla Model S that struck and killed a pedestrian. The jury must decide whether Tesla’s Autopilot system shares blame with the vehicle’s distracted driver. Similar fatal crashes involving Autopilot are under regulatory investigation, with more trials expected in the coming years.

In the Miami trial, the plaintiffs called engineering professor and former Navy pilot Mary “Missy” Cummings as an expert witness. She criticized the Autopilot branding, saying it creates unrealistic expectations based on its aviation counterpart.

Honda and Acura electric vehicle drivers now have a significantly broader charging network at their disposal. The Prologue and ZDX crossovers can officially plug into Tesla’s Supercharger network across North America, thanks to a newly approved adapter.

Both models continue to use the CCS (Combined Charging System) port but are now compatible with Tesla’s NACS (North American Charging Standard) through this accessory, which is available for $225.

The company says that the approved adapter has been “tested for performance and compatibility” with the Prologue and ZDX, ensuring a “reliable charging experience”. While aftermarket solutions are available, Honda says that “damage caused to a vehicle resulting from the use of an unapproved adapter may not be covered under vehicles’ limited warranties”.

The official NACS adapter is currently on sale through authorized Honda and Acura dealerships, as well as via the Honda DreamShop website, all priced at $225.

Initially, Honda and Acura EV owners will have to log into the Tesla app to use a Tesla Supercharger, but the automaker has promised future integration with the HondaLink and Acura EV applications. Furthermore, the standard Google built-in Maps on the infotainment allows owners to locate Tesla Superchargers.

As of June 2025, the company has sold 49,334 units of the Honda Prologue and 17,726 units of the Acura ZDX in the US market, meaning that the news affects a pool of 67,060 EV owners. Both electric crossovers were developed in collaboration with GM.

The first Honda models equipped with a North American Charging Standard (NCAS) port will be the production versions of the 0 Series sedan and SUV, scheduled to reach dealers in 2026.

The deal between Honda and Tesla was first announced in 2023, following a similar move by several other automakers. The Tesla Supercharger network now includes more than 23,500 locations across the United States. By 2030, Honda and Acura EV owners are expected to have access to roughly 100,000 DC fast chargers throughout North America, spanning multiple charging networks.

With the C9 rumored to debut around 2029, people have been speculating whether the next iteration might abandon its trademark V8 roots in favor of a fully electric powertrain.

Fortunately, recent comments from a top GM engineer suggest there’s no need to worry – at least not yet. The Corvette will hold onto its V8 rumble, embracing a more measured hybrid approach instead of going all-in on electric.

Tony Roma, Executive Chief Engineer for Global Corvette and Performance Cars at General Motors, recently spoke with Autocar to shed light on what’s next for America’s favorite sports car. While acknowledging that EVs are clearly part of the industry’s future, Roma dismissed the idea of a fully electric Corvette as something still firmly in the realm of “science fiction.”

A Corvette EV? Not Anytime Soon

The engineering boss made it clear that his team won’t be making an electric version just to comply with the European regulations, which are set to ban ICE-powered vehicles after 2035. If an EV does one day carry the Corvette name, he said, it will need to earn it. As he put it, “nobody wants” a Corvette badge on a car that doesn’t live up to its legacy.

Back in April 2025, General Motors’ new design center in the UK unveiled a Corvette-inspired concept. Presented as a design exercise, it sported a futuristic hypercar shape and a fully electric drivetrain.

According to Michael Simcoe, GM’s Senior Vice President of Global Design, it was meant to honor Corvette’s design heritage rather than serve as a preview of a future production model. Roma’s comments now confirm that this project isn’t headed for the assembly line anytime soon.

What Makes a Corvette, According to GM

For him, performance metrics alone aren’t enough. While electric vehicles can easily deliver blistering acceleration, he believes the Corvette should be focused on something more enduring: the experience behind the wheel, noting that “it has to be engaging” and that “the art of driving” remains central to the brand’s identity.

He emphasized the importance of a strong power-to-weight ratio, as well as cost and range, but placed even more weight on the “visceral connection” a driver feels with the car. Roma admitted he’s driven many excellent EVs, but said most of them lack the emotional spark that makes a great performance car memorable.

“The computer does so much of the work,” he explained. What he wants on a Saturday morning drive is simple: “to fire up an engine and listen to all those noises.”

In his view, the transition to electric will only happen when the alternative is truly better: “Our cars will be all-electric when an all-electric car is better than what we have right now. And until then, we’ll continue to do what we’re doing right now… Everybody should just take a deep breath and relax, and we’ll get there when it’s time.”

Simplicity Over Complexity in Hybrid Design

The chief engineer also dismissed the idea of turning to plug-in hybrid technology for Corvette, citing drawbacks like added mass, higher costs, and unnecessary complexity. He said such a system would only be worth considering if it allowed GM to meet specific regulatory targets based on electric-only driving range.

While speciality makers like Ferrari, Lamborghini, and McLaren are already offering plug-in hybrid supercars, Chevrolet has gone in a different direction with the Corvette E-Ray. Roma explained why.

“I won’t poke anybody in particular, but some of our competitors have been criticized for the games you have to play to get the car in the right mode, and which charging mode and this and that and the other. But when you drive an E-Ray, you just fire it up and drive it. It’s just a hybrid. It charges the battery for you. It does everything. If you want to override and make it charge the battery faster, there’s a button for that. But other than that, that’s pretty much it, and keep it simple, keep it usable.”

What Comes After the C8?

All signs point to the next-generation Corvette sticking with a V8 engine, possibly paired with a self-charging hybrid system. That keeps the formula intact while still allowing for incremental updates that improve efficiency and performance without losing the essence of what the Corvette is all about.

Although the C9 is expected around 2029, there’s still more to come from the current model. Roma recently hinted that the 1,250-horsepower ZR1X isn’t the C8’s final act. “It’s just the latest chapter,” he said, promising that the team continues to push the platform to “new performance highs.”

Big trucks and SUVs continue to be the backbone of GMC’s business, and American buyers show no signs of losing interest. The Sierra full-size pickup and Yukon full-size SUV remain the brand’s heavy-hitters, and while they’ve been strong performers, GMC isn’t sitting still. Designers and engineers are already deep into developing the next versions of their most in-demand models.

GMC, much like sibling brand Chevrolet, isn’t stepping away from internal combustion engines just yet. That’s proving to be a practical move as EV demand has cooled, in part due to the rollback of federal incentives under the Trump administration. But electrification at GMC doesn’t start and end with battery-electric vehicles. Plug-in hybrids are now part of the plan.

Plug-In Powertrains and Production Plans

GM CEO Mary Barra has confirmed that plug-in hybrid models will join the lineup in 2027. That same year, GM plans to ramp up production of the Sierra at its Orion Township facility in Michigan. According to Automotive News, this timing may align with a mid-cycle refresh for the Sierra, followed by updates to the heavy-duty version in 2028.

These refreshed models are expected to feature electrified powertrains as their main upgrade, alongside tweaks to styling and onboard tech. The all-electric Sierra EV could also see its own redesign in 2028, potentially bringing it more in line with its combustion-powered counterpart. As for the related Yukon and Yukon XL SUVs, a redesign is reportedly planned for 2029, and they too are expected to adopt plug-in hybrid options.

Future Updates Across the Lineup

The rest of GMC’s portfolio is also set for change. Autonews reports that the fully electric Hummer, which began production in late 2021, will likely undergo a mid-cycle refresh around 2028 for both pickup and SUV variants. The current-generation Arcadia, launched in late 2023, could be due for an update by 2027 or 2028. Meanwhile, the Canyon midsize pickup is expected to get a refresh in 2029, six years after its debut. The GMC Terrain is also quite fresh, so don’t expect a facelift before 2028 or 2029.

The aging GMC Savana van is expected to stick around at least through 2026, with some reports suggesting a potential production expansion. First introduced in 1996 and largely unchanged since then, the Savana continues on alongside its Chevrolet Express twin.

Growing Sales Driven By the Full-Size Segment

Sam Fiorani, Vice President of Global Vehicle Forecasting at AutoForecast Solutions, pointed to the strong position GMC holds in the full-size market: “Trucks are such an important part of the U.S. market, and GMC has cornered the segments that are a bit more upscale than Ford or Chevrolet.”

That strategy appears to be paying off. GMC posted its best-ever first-half sales in 2025, reaching 315,906 units, an 11 percent increase over last year. The Sierra alone accounted for 166,409 of those sales, up 12 percent. The Yukon followed with 48,190 units sold, a 22 percent increase.

The only drop came from the Terrain compact SUV, down 34 percent with 32,361 units sold. On the other end, the Hummer EV saw the largest percentage gain in the first half of 2025, climbing 74 percent to 7,987 units. Still, it remains GMC’s second slowest-selling model, just ahead of the newly introduced Sierra EV, which logged 2,774 units in the same period.

Isuzu is stepping into the electric pickup game with a familiar face and a new heart. The company has officially unveiled the production version of its fully electric D-Max pickup, which is set to hit European roads in early 2026.

While the exterior sticks closely to what buyers already know, underneath it promises a zero-emission alternative without sacrificing the rugged practicality the D-Max is known for. Fleets and private buyers looking to ditch diesel but keep their payloads will likely want to take a closer look.

Described as “the first production electric pickup in Europe to deliver full commercial capabilities,” the Isuzu D-Max EV will face off against rivals like the upcoming electric version of the next-generation Toyota Hilux.

Visually, there is little to separate the EV from its internal combustion siblings. Unlike the concept version shown last year, the production D-Max EV skips the closed-off grille treatment. Battery and Charging Details

A 66.9 kWh lithium-ion battery provides a WLTP-rated range of 263 km (163 miles). This figure might seem modest compared to smaller EVs, but it is in line with expectations for a midsize pickup carrying extra weight and size. Fast charging at up to 50 kW DC allows the battery to go from 20 to 80 percent charge in about one hour. Isuzu backs the battery with an 8-year or 100,000-mile (160,900 km) warranty.

The fully electric truck rides on a modified version of the ladder frame chassis found in the regular Isuzu D-Max. However, the rear suspension features a De-Dion setup instead of leaf springs, contributing to a more refined ride.

Pricing And Availability

The global debut of the D-Max EV took place at the 2025 Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham on April 29. UK pre-sales began on July 21, with first deliveries expected in February 2026.

The new model debuted during a special event at Faraday Future’s headquarters in California. It’s pitched as an “affordable mass market MPV,” designed to offer a roomy, thoughtfully constructed interior with premium materials and a wide array of advanced features.

Instead of being a clean-sheet design, the FX Super One is actually based on the Wey Gaoshan minivan by the Chinese automaker Great Wall Motors. . Despite those shared underpinnings, the FX Super One comes with several Faraday-specific updates: a refreshed front-end design, black trim, 20-inch alloy wheels, and, perhaps most notably, a new AI-powered digital grille.

This grille houses what the company calls the Front AI Communication Ecosystem, or F.A.C.E., a system that goes beyond displaying emojis or motivational messages. When the vehicle is parked, F.A.C.E. can interact with passengers through voice recognition, visual cues, and even reactive communication, offering something akin to a conversational co-pilot. For those who prefer a more conventional look, a traditional grille will also be offered.

At the core of all this interactivity is Faraday Future’s proprietary EAI Embodied Intelligence AI Agent 6×4 Architecture. This system manages everything from the digital grille to infotainment controls, voice-command features, and the vehicle’s suite of advanced driver assistance systems.

Tech, Comfort, and Customization

Moving to the interior, the FX Super One will be offered in four-, six-, or seven-seat configurations across two or three rows. Gunning For The Escalade

The stretched version of its minivan twin from Great Wall measures 5,405 mm (212.8 inches) long, and has a wheelbase of 3,275 mm (128.9 inches). That puts it right against full-size SUVs including the Cadillac Escalade which was mentioned as a key rival, even though it has “less interior room, no sliding doors, and no AI integration”.

The target audience of the FX Super One includes celebrities and starts, visionaries and hard-working professional, but also regular family users. Among the user experience scenarios highlighted in the presentation is a star’s visit to a red carpet, a mobile livestream studio, a vehicle for elite athletes, a mobile AI office or private clubhouse, a golfer’s car, a mobile mansion, and a glamper’s car.

If everything goes according to plan, and that’s a big if, the FX Super One will roll out in early 2026. The model will be assembled at the Faraday Future plant in Hanford, California, allegedly using 50% locally-sourced parts. Faraday Future didn’t reveal pricing but is already accepting pre-orders for a refundable deposit of $100.

The FX Super One is not the only new model coming by Faraday Future. The company has announced the FX 4 which is believed to be an affordable Tesla Model Y competitor, the FX 5 large-space sporty AIEV, and the FX 6 large family vehicle.

Alfa Romeo enthusiasts have been eagerly awaiting the return of the iconic Quadrifoglio badge on the next generation of the Giulia and Stelvio. While the high-performance versions of these models were widely expected to go fully electric, there’s now a possibility that the legendary nameplate may continue to feature internal combustion power as well.

That hint comes directly from Alfa Romeo CEO Santo Ficili. In a recent interview with Top Gear, Ficili shared that keeping the Quadrifoglio spirit alive remains a personal goal. When asked about future powertrain options, he explained, “Quadrifoglio can be BEV, why not? But it can also be ICE.”

A High-Powered Future, But Not Fully Decided

Last year, former Alfa Romeo CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato suggested that the upcoming Stelvio Quadrifoglio could debut with a fully electric powertrain producing up to 986 horsepower (736 kW or 1,000 PS). That level of output would put it firmly in supercar territory. However, it’s unclear whether the production model will reach that figure, and any internal combustion version, potentially with hybrid assistance, would surely land below that threshold.

The next-generation Stelvio was initially expected to debut toward the end of 2025, though reports suggest the launch has been pushed back. In any case, the SUV isn’t likely to reach showrooms before 2026, with the new Giulia scheduled to follow after that.

Both models are based on the STLA Large platform, which has encountered development delays. These are linked to the addition of ICE and plug-in hybrid variants alongside the EVs. Ficili confirmed that both models underwent a last-minute redesign at the front to accommodate the cooling requirements for gasoline engines.

Ficili emphasized that future Alfa Romeos must retain a clear brand identity, both visually and dynamically. “When you look at the car, you must understand immediately it is an Alfa,” he said. “And the driver must have everything under control. Alfa To Remain A Small Brand

Despite challenges in sales figures, Ficili made it clear that Alfa Romeo isn’t aiming to become a volume brand like BMW. “We need to keep the customers who are in love with Alfa,” he said, citing the brand’s history, racing legacy, and iconic past models. “There is a long queue, because of the legacy, the racing, the glory, the product we created in the past. Junior is the right model to satisfy younger people. A bridge between new customers and the older Alfisti.”

The CEO also hinted at potential synergies with Maserati that could lead to a follow-up to the sold out 33 Stradale supercar: “If I can also search for synergies with Maserati, we can imagine for sure to make products like this. There’s also potential for a return to smaller-bodied models such as coupes and spiders, which have long been part of the brand’s DNA. For now, though, these ideas are on hold. The priority, according to Ficili, is delivering vehicles that can support the brand financially over the next couple of years, a period he described as “not so clear.”

While the original Renault Clio Williams holds a legendary place in hot hatch history, modern fans looking for a spiritual successor may feel slightly left out. The current Clio lineup skips a performance-focused variant altogether, shifting attention to the fully electric Alpine A290 built on the new Renault 5 platform. Still, for those drawn to heritage and design, there’s now a limited-edition R5 that leans into nostalgia with purpose.

The Renault 5 Monte Carlo Edition is the result of a collaboration between Dutch dealer Zeeuw & Zeeuw and coachbuilding and design specialist Re-Volve. Only 25 units will be built, all for the Netherlands market. Billed as a tribute to Renault’s motorsport legacy, the special edition wears its influences proudly.

Retro Looks With Modern Electric Bones

This electric R5 is finished in Midnight Blue with a contrasting black roof, a color combination already seen in Renault’s standard configurator. What sets the Monte Carlo Edition apart is a distinctive gold livery that runs across the grille, sides, and rear hatch, echoing the gold accents of its ’90s ancestor. The stunning spec certainly makes the R5 more desirable, adding sporty and premium tones. However, the Monte Carlo Edition doesn’t feature any upgrades under the skin. Surprisingly, it is not even based on the more potent version of the R5 with 148 hp (110 kW / 150 PS) that would closely match the 145 hp (108 kW / 147 PS) of the naturally-aspirated 2.0-liter engine found in the original Clio Williams.

Instead, it uses the 121 hp (90 kW) electric motor paired with a 40 kWh battery, offering up to 309 km (192 miles) of WLTP range. Renault says this setup allows for a 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) time of 9 seconds, with a top speed of 150 km/h (93 mph). Performance like this doesn’t live up to the legacy of the Williams badge.

For those willing to trade performance for exclusivity and nostalgic flair, the Renault 5 Monte Carlo Edition is priced at €37,995 ($44,400). That’s about €8,000 ($9,400) more than the standard R5 E-Tech Urban Range Techno trim it’s based on, which starts at €29,990 ($35,000) in the Dutch market. When the Carens Clavis debuted in May 2025, many took one look at its sharp design and assumed it was electric. Turns out, that wasn’t far off. Kia has now introduced a fully electric version of the affordable minivan, confirming that the EV-inspired design of the internal combustion model wasn’t just a coincidence.

Designed with emerging EV markets in mind, this new electric variant is Kia’s first EV built in India. It mirrors much of the futuristic styling of the ICE-powered Clavis, with a few subtle but functional updates.

These include a front-mounted charging port, the removal of the central cooling intake, LED fog lamps, a lit-up grille, and redesigned alloy wheels shaped to improve aerodynamics. Kia describes it as a “lifestyle-ready recreational vehicle with SUV-inspired character,” and it’s positioned as a more premium take on the standard Carens, offering distinct exterior styling and a tech-focused interior.

Familiar Footprint, Refined Interior

Inside, the Carens Clavis EV retains a three-row layout, stretching 4,550 mm (179.1 inches) long and configured to seat seven. The dashboard features a wide 26.6-inch digital cockpit, standard across the range. Thanks to the absence of a traditional gearbox, the center console now has a floating design, which opens up more usable space.

Depending on the trim level, the EV is available with a range of comfort and convenience features. These include ventilated front seats, an eight-speaker Bose sound system, ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, and up to 20 advanced driver assistance systems with Level 2 autonomy. In the second row, Kia has added its “Boss Mode” seating with one-touch electric tumble functionality for easier third-row access.

As with the regular models, the Carens Clavis shares its underpinnings with the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos SUVs. Predictably, the electric version borrows the powertrain and battery options from the Hyundai Creta Electric.

The Base model is equipped with a 42 kWh battery and delivers 133 hp (99 kW / 135 PS) along with 225 Nm (166 lb-ft) of torque, offering an MIDC range of 404 km (251 miles). For those needing more range, the Long Range version steps up to 169 hp (126 kW / 171 PS) and 255 Nm (188 lb-ft) of torque, thanks to a larger 51.4 kWh battery, extending the range to 490 km (305 miles).

Charging and Market Positioning

Both battery packs are liquid-cooled, IP67-certified for dust and water resistance, and support Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality along with 100 kW DC fast charging.

Kia hasn’t shared a full list of markets where the Carens Clavis EV will be sold but said pricing and availability will be customized for each region. In India, where it’s produced, the EV is priced between Rs 17.99 lakh and Rs 24.49 lakh ($21,000–$28,600).

For context, the ICE-powered Carens Clavis, available with both gasoline and diesel engines, ranges from Rs 11.50 lakh to Rs 21.50 lakh ($13,400–$25,100).

Mazda’s partnership with Changan is quickly proving to be a smart move in the electric space. Building on the momentum of the EZ-6 sedan, the new EZ-60 crossover is already drawing strong interest, racking up over 33,000 pre-orders in China before even reaching dealerships. This strong early demand comes ahead of a planned launch in Europe, where the model will arrive under the name CX-6e.

The EZ-60 made its production debut at the Shanghai Auto Show on April 23, immediately generating significant interest with 10,060 pre-orders within the first 48 hours. According to Chinese outlet NetEase, that figure had climbed to 33,000 by July 11. The official market launch in China is scheduled for September.

Electric Power With Familiar Underpinnings

At 4,850 mm (190.9 inches) long, the EZ-60 is a midsize SUV positioned to compete with other premium electrified crossovers. It will be offered in both range-extender and fully electric configurations, sharing its EV platform with the Changan Deepal S07. While Mazda hasn’t released full technical specs yet, it’s hinting at notable range numbers, thanks in part to a focus on aerodynamics.

The design sticks closely to the 2024 Mazda Arata concept, with split LED headlights, a sleek closed-off grille, and a sharp, modern front end. The interior brings a generous dose of tech, including a 26.5-inch dashboard display, a 100-inch augmented reality heads-up display, digital rearview mirrors, and a 23-speaker sound system. Heated and ventilated seats round out a well-equipped cabin.

Made in China, Priced for Europe

Both the EZ-6 sedan and the EZ-60 crossover are being built by Changan in China as part of its joint venture with Mazda. This production arrangement will also apply to their European versions, which will be sold as the Mazda 6e and CX-6e.

Mazda hasn’t announced pricing for the EZ-60 yet, but the EZ-6 ranges from ¥159,800 to ¥181,800 (about $22,300 to $25,400) in China. By contrast, the European Mazda 6e starts at €44,900 (around $52,500) in Germany. If that’s any indication, the CX-6e will likely carry a significantly higher price tag in Europe.

That difference is partly due to intense price competition in China, which keeps domestic EV prices low, as well as the added cost of EU import tariffs on Chinese-built vehicles.

Mazda’s Next EV Will Be Built In Japan

In parallel with its Changan-based lineup, Mazda is also developing a fully in-house electric model slated for release in 2027. This future EV will be built in Japan on a new platform and will use battery packs supplied by Panasonic. Skoda is adding a practical twist to its all-electric lineup with a new commercial variant of the Enyaq. Unlike panel vans, the rear windows are still in place, but they are heavily tinted and their electric function has been disabled. Professionals can access the cargo area through the rear doors and the tailgate.

Powertrain Options and Range

The LCV conversion is offered with the single-motor Enyaq 85 or the dual-motor SportLine 85x model. In both cases, the power output is 282 hp (210 kW / 286 PS). Unfortunately, Skoda doesn’t offer a similar version of the performance-focused Enyaq vRS, which is good for 335 hp (250 kW / 340 PS).

Regardless of the drivetrain, both variants use a 77 kWh battery pack, offering a WLTP-rated range of up to 359 miles (578 km) for the RWD model and 332 miles (534 km) for the AWD version. That should more than cover the needs of most LCV users, with DC fast-charging available for added convenience.

According to the automaker, the project was commissioned by UK company National Grid Energy Distribution, which ordered 70 Enyaq Cargo models for decarbonizing its fleet.

The first-ever electric LCV by Skoda will be exclusively available to fleet customers. Pricing starts at £44,310 ($59,700) for a Skoda Enyaq 85, while another £1,815 ($2,500) plus taxes are required for the Cargo conversion.

Volkswagen is planning a major refresh for the ID.4 electric crossover, a move that signals more than just a routine update. Expected to arrive in late 2026, the redesigned model will edge closer to a full generational shift, positioning itself as a more direct electric counterpart to the internal combustion Tiguan.

As Europe’s EV market continues to grow, Volkswagen has pulled ahead of Tesla in regional sales and wants to maintain that momentum with a mix of new models and significant updates. One of the key players in this strategy is the next evolution of the ID.4.

Despite being five years old, the ID.4 remains a strong seller, but VW is preparing to sharpen its appeal with a full redesign inside and out, improved efficiency, and potentially, a new name.

A Fresh Design Language Across the Board

According to Autocar, Volkswagen CEO Thomas Schäfer described the changes in clear terms: “We’ll re-do the ID.4 completely inside and out. It will be a completely different car—a huge step up.” He added that the redesign is essential for aligning the model with VW’s future design direction, calling the ID.4 their most important EV by volume.

The updated ID.4 will follow the design language introduced with the upcoming ID.1 and ID.2 hatchbacks, developed under design chief Andy Mindt. This same visual direction will also shape the next ID.3, which is set to receive its own major refresh in the second quarter of 2026, with the ID.4 update to follow later that year.

Earlier comments by VW’s development boss Kai Grunitz suggested that the redesigned ID.3 and ID.4 will have more references to the automaker’s past, while adopting a “lower and squatter stance”. Reading between the lines, the crossover might get squared-off headlights and taillights, a bigger faux grille, toned fenders, and a stronger C-pillar reminiscent of the Golf.

Interior Upgrades and Platform Enhancements

Grunitz has also revealed that the updated ID.3 and ID.4 will get a new interior, with greater emphasis on physical switchgear. VW has learned from its mistakes and will bring back the round volume knob instead of the impractical touch sliders.

Underneath, the updated model will continue to ride on the MEB platform, albeit an improved version. While the next-gen SSP architecture is still a few years away, expected no earlier than 2028, enhancements to motors and battery packs will bring gains in power, range, and efficiency, all crucial for staying competitive with a newer field of electric rivals.

The Electric Tiguan

Internally, Volkswagen is referring to the new ID.4 as the “electric Tiguan,” according to Autocar. That label may reflect more than market positioning. Martin Sander, who heads Sales, Marketing, and After Sales for VW, recently stated that future electric models will adopt “proper names again,” signaling a potential shift away from the alphanumeric ID naming system. A rebranded ID.4 might be part of that plan.

One casualty of the refresh could be the ID.5, the coupe-style sibling to the ID.4. VW is reportedly planning to discontinue it, partly due to its weaker sales performance. Unlike the ID.4, which consistently lands among the top five best-selling EVs in Europe, the ID.5 hasn’t made the continent’s top 25.

Besides the successors of the ID.3 and ID.4 that are scheduled to arrive next year, VW is also getting ready for the launch of the ID.2 supermini and the ID.1 city car in 2026 and 2027, respectively. A crossover version of the ID.2 is also under development for 2027, and will be shown in concept form (ID.2 X) at the Munich Motor Show in September.

Wagons may be all but extinct in today’s automotive landscape, cast away by buyers’ love of SUVs, but they still stir enthusiasm among certain corners of the car world. One such example is the Lexus IS SportCross, the only wagon in the brand’s 36-year history.

The five-door model lasted just a single generation before being discontinued, yet it still holds a place in the hearts of wagon fans. One of them is digital artist Theophilus Chin, who recently imagined what a modern Lexus wagon could look like in the current lineup.

Instead of starting with the aging IS sedan, Theottle chose the larger and more contemporary Lexus ES as the foundation for his design. The familiar sedan form is reworked with a taller, more upright rear, and styling cues borrowed from the all-electric RZ.

In this reimagining, the rear glass wraps around seamlessly into the side windows, visually slimming the D-pillars and giving the rear a cleaner profile. The roofline is less sloped than the standard ES, flowing into a pair of aerodynamic fins that replace the more conventional rear spoiler.

The lower portion of the tail is carried over from the regular ES, including the slim LED bar, the integrated ducktail spoiler, and the rear bumper. The wheelbase and the rear overhang haven’t changed, meaning that the ES Sport Cross retains the footprint of the sedan.

The new Lexus ES is based on Toyota’s TNGA-K architecture, which is compatible with self-charging hybrid and fully electric powertrain options. The flagship ES 500e trim with AWD capability would be the most fitting for the Sport Cross variant, generating 338 hp (252 kW / 343 PS) from its zero-emission powertrain. Furthermore, the 75 kWh battery would be good for a WLTP range of around 530 km (329 miles).

If it ever reached production, the ES SportCross would go up against premium wagons like the BMW i5 Touring and the Mercedes E-Class Estate. But while the idea might appeal to wagon enthusiasts, Lexus appears far more focused on sedans and SUVs these days, making this actually happening quite unlikely.

Still, there was a hint of possibility back in late 2021, when Lexus previewed a compact EV concept showcasing a variety of body styles, including a sedan, shooting brake, crossover, and convertible. At the time, many believed these prototypes hinted at the next generation IS, a model that now seems destined to offer more than just battery-electric powertrains when it eventually arrives.

Electric flair is taking on a retro twist. While Volkswagen has signaled that the GTI nameplate will carry on in its future performance EVs, there’s still time for one last spotlight on the short-lived GTX badge. Before the GTI transition arrives, VW introduced a special edition that puts a striking spin on its current electric lineup called the ID.3 GTX Fire+Ice.

Evolving from last year’s vibrant concept, this limited-run model draws direct inspiration from a memorable early ’90s Golf.

Retro Styling Details

The production model dials back the concept’s shimmering finish in favor of a more conventional Ultra Violet Metallic paint. Even so, it retains several distinctive touches, including a custom logo on the spoiler, transparent matte decals on the C-pillars, a Flaming Red roof strip, and coordinating GTX | FIRE & ICE lettering along the side. Rounding out the look are 20-inch Locarno alloy wheels with anodized accents that match the body color.

Inside, the two-tone color scheme from the concept carries over, with Fire Red on the driver’s side and Keep Cool Blue on the passenger’s side. The jacket-style zippers on the front seats remain as a design nod, though they’re now decorative rather than functional. Additional details include contrast stitching and custom puddle lights.

As for equipment, the Fire+Ice edition is well stocked, featuring premium sport seats with massage function, an augmented reality head-up display, a Harman Kardon sound system, and an advanced suite of driver-assistance systems.

Performance Carries Over

The ID.3 GTX FIRE+ICE doesn’t get any performance upgrades over the standard GTX and GTX Performance trims. This means it is available with a single rear-mounted electric motor producing either 282 hp (210 kW / 286 PS) or 322 hp (240 kW / 326 PS). The more powerful variant can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.7 seconds and comes equipped with the DCC adaptive chassis. That said, it’s still slower than the more affordable Golf R, which does the deed in just 4.6 seconds.

The 79 kWh battery pack is good for a WLTP range of up to 591 km (367 miles) and is compatible with DC charging of up to 185 kW.

A Nod to the ’90s

This new Fire+Ice edition pays tribute to the 1990 VW Golf Fire and Ice, developed with fashion designer Willy Bogner. The original stood out with its color scheme and was available in several trims, including the GTI. VW reports it sold 16,700 units, well above its original target of 10,000.

That retro influence carries into the present through a modern partnership with performance apparel brand BOGNER FIRE+ICE. Production will be strictly limited to 1,990 units, making it even rarer than the model that inspired it.

In Germany, pricing for the ID.3 GTX Fire+Ice starts at €56,020 (around $65,500), a €8,795 ($10,300) premium over the standard GTX trim. It’s also more expensive than both the gasoline-powered Golf GTI Clubsport (€49,280 / $57,600) and the Golf R (€55,000 / $64,300), solidifying its status as the most exclusive and most expensive ID.3 on offer.
