Polestar unveiled the Precept concept over five years ago and it’s finally morphed into a production vehicle. While the car is roughly a year behind schedule, the Polestar 5 looks fantastic and is ready to tackle the Porsche Taycan.

Billed as a four-door performance grand tourer, the car follows in the footsteps of the original concept and features dual blade headlights with Pixel LED technology. They’re joined by taut bodywork, retractable door handles, and frameless windows.

Buyers will also find 20- to 22-inch wheels as well as a rakish windscreen that flows into a long, sloping roof. The latter ends at a Kamm-style tail, but the car is more notable for eschewing a rear window.

An Elegant And Minimalist Interior

The interior is minimalist and high-tech as owners will find a 9-inch digital instrument cluster, a 9.5-inch head-up display, and a 14.5-inch infotainment system with a portrait orientation. The latter runs a Polestar-specific version of Android Automotive and features Google integration.

The front seats were designed in collaboration with Recaro and can be wrapped in MicroTech or Bridge of Weir Nappa leather upholstery. They also offer heating, ventilation, and massage functions.

Polestar says the car was designed primarily as a four-seater and the rear center armrest folds down to reveal controls for the four-zone climate control system as well as the heated, ventilated, and massaging rear seats. The seats also recline and the company noted passengers will find a “foot garage behind the front seats,” which “gives occupants extra foot space and a more natural seating position.”

Elsewhere, there’s a digital rearview mirror, Econyl carpeting, and flax-based trim instead of carbon fiber. A ten-speaker audio system is standard, while a 21-speaker Bowers & Wilkins setup is optional. Buyers will also find a massive panoramic glass roof that measures over six feet long.

If you’re more concerned about cargo, the 5 offers 12.9 cubic feet (365 liters) of rear luggage space. There’s also a frunk that provides 2.2 cubic feet (62 liters) of room.

A Bespoke Platform And Powerful Motors

The 5 rides on a bespoke hot-cured bonded aluminum platform, which is known as the Polestar Performance Architecture. The model also sports a Brembo braking system as well as 11 exterior cameras, 12 ultrasonic sensors, and one mid-range radar. These enable a host of driver assistance systems including available Pilot Assist.

Power comes from a 112 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which feeds a dual-motor all-wheel drive system producing 738 hp (550 kW / 748 PS) and 599 lb-ft (812 Nm) of torque. This enables the car to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3.9 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). Drivers can also expect a WLTP range of up to 416 miles (670 km).

When the battery is low, owners will be thankful for a DC fast charging capability of 350 kW. It takes the battery from 10-80% in as little as 22 minutes. At home, the AC charging capacity tops out at 19 kW. Speaking of charging, there’s an indicator on the C-pillar, which tells you the battery status at a glance.

Customers can also get a Performance variant, which features an upgraded dual-motor all-wheel drive system producing 872 hp (650 kW / 884 PS) and 749 lb-ft (1,015 Nm) of torque. This lowers the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) time to 3.2 seconds, but the range also drops to 351 miles (565 km).

Besides being more powerful, the Polestar 5 Performance has a sportier suspension with adaptive dampers that can react to road conditions within three milliseconds. Buyers will also find gloss black accents as well as Swedish Gold brake calipers, seat belts, and valve caps.

Now Available To Order

The Polestar 5 is currently available to order and German pricing starts at €119,900 for the entry-level model and €142,900 for the Performance variant. In the UK, pricing starts at £89,500 and £104,900.

The initial launch will be focused on 24 markets, but North America isn’t included. While that’s unfortunate, the company said pricing and availability for Canada and the United States will be announced at a later date.

Following a preview last year, Togg has introduced the production-ready T10F at the Munich Motor Show. It’s a fitting location as the company has announced both the T10F and T10X will be offered in Germany later this month.

Looking virtually identical to the CES prototype, the production model is a five-door liftback that’s a tad generic. Starting up front, there’s a fully enclosed grille that is flanked by LED headlights. They’re joined by sizable air intakes as well as prominent daytime running lights.

Continuing down the sides, the T10F has streamlined bodywork and an available black roof. Buyers will also find 17- to 19-inch wheels as well as a drag coefficient of 0.24.

In terms of size, the car measures 190.2 inches (4,830 mm) long and has a wheelbase that spans 113.8 inches (2,890 mm). To put that into perspective, the vehicle is 4.3 inches (110 mm) longer than the Tesla Model 3, but only has an extra 0.6 inches (15 mm) between the wheels.

Cabin Tech And Features

Togg’s interior photos don’t do the car justice, but the model has a panoramic display that consists of a 12-inch digital instrument cluster and a 29-inch infotainment system. They’re joined by a lower 8-inch display and controls that would feel more at home in a fighter jet. The company went on to say the model has a six-speaker audio system, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a trunk capacity of 17.8 cubic feet (505 liters).

Higher-end variants are more luxurious and offer vegan leather seats, a wireless smartphone charger, and a 12-speaker Meridian premium audio system. Customers can also get heated front and rear seats as well as an ambient lighting system.

A host of driver assistance systems come standard including advanced emergency braking, forward collision alert, and intelligent adaptive cruise control with stop and go. They’re joined by front/rear parking sensors, high beam assist, traffic sign detection, and emergency lane keeping assistant.

Powertrain Options and Range

Most trims are equipped with a rear-mounted motor producing 214 hp (160 kW / 218 PS) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque. It can be paired to either a 52.4 or 88.5 kWh battery pack. The former offers a combined WLTP range of up to 217 miles (350 km), while the latter increases that distance up to 387 miles (623 km).

Depending on the configuration, the model can accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in as little as 7.2 seconds. Customers can also go from a 20-80% charge in 28 minutes using a 180 kW DC fast charger.

Drivers looking for better performance can opt for the V2 AWD trim. It features a dual-motor all-wheel drive system producing 429 hp (320 kW / 435 PS) and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque. Thanks to the extra oomph, the dash to 62 mph (100 km/h) falls to 4.1 seconds. Unfortunately, the combined range also plummets to 325 miles (523 km).

Rimac Technology has used the Munich motor show to unveil e-axles and their next-generation solid state battery. These components will arrive in the coming years and be used by various automakers.

Starting with batteries, Rimac teamed up with ProLogium and Mitsubishi Chemical Group to create a solid-state power source that pushes the “boundaries of energy density and safety.” The company’s “Next-Gen” battery appears to have a 100 kWh capacity as well as an energy density of 260 Wh/kg. More interestingly, the battery will be able to go from a 10-80% charge in 6.5 minutes using a fast charger.

If everything works out, the battery should be available in the fourth quarter of 2027. There’s no word on who will use it, but Rimac has a number of automotive partners including BMW and Porsche.

Rimac also showcased an Evo battery, which is scheduled to arrive in mid-2026. It also has a 100 kWh capacity, but a lower energy density of 213 Wh/kg. Clients can also expect to wait over 16 minutes for the battery to go from 10-80% when using a fast charger.

Lastly, Rimac showed two hybrid batteries including a scalable unit that will arrive early next year. It appears to offer a capacity of between 1 and 17 kWh. The company also mentioned “interchangeable cell configurations” and an “integrated in cell-to-pack architecture with advanced safety and thermal management features.”

Besides batteries, Rimac introduced the Sinteg 300 and 550 e-axles. Designed for “performance-focused vehicles” ranging from hot hatches to SUVs, they produce between 201 hp (150 kW / 204 PS) and 483 hp (360 kW / 489 PS). The company added the 550 unit will go into production next year.

Rimac Technology COO Nurdin Pitarević remarked, “What we’re showcasing at IAA represents the convergence of breakthrough innovation and production readiness. These aren’t simply concept technologies; they’ve been developed to be production-ready solutions that will power hundreds of thousands of vehicles in the coming years.”

Automakers aren’t the only ones walking back their electric vehicle plans as Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has decided to give companies additional “flexibility.” As such, he’s waiving 2026 model year vehicles from the Electric Vehicle Availability Standard and will conduct a broader review to “provide additional flexibilities and reduce costs.”

As the prime minister’s office explained, the government wants to make “targeted regulatory adjustments” to ensure automotive companies remain competitive during the transition to electric vehicles. They added the “automotive sector is essential to Canada’s economy, supporting jobs, trade, innovation and the green transition.”

The Electric Vehicle Availability Standard originally required at least 20% of new light-duty vehicle sales be zero emission by 2026. However, the rules will be amended to remove that target to reduce “economic pressure due to tariffs.”

On top of that, the government is reviewing other EVAS deadlines to ensure they “reflect market realities” and don’t place an “undue burden on automakers.” As you may recall, 60% of sales are supposed to be zero emission vehicles by 2030, while that number would rise to 100% by 2035.

Despite hitting the brakes on Canada’s electric vehicle push, Carney’s office said zero emission vehicles are “crucial for addressing climate change,” improving health, and creating significant opportunities for the economy. However, the government noted the transition to EVs is “unfolding amid significant short-term economic uncertainty” and “Canada must carefully consider how recent U.S. policy uncertainty could affect the affordability and availability of ZEVs in the integrated North American market.”

Interestingly, the government said they’ll “explore options to bring more affordable electric vehicles to Canadians.” They didn’t go into specifics, but it will be interesting to see if they’ll crack the door open to Chinese brands.

The changes to the Electric Vehicle Availability Standard were revealed as part of a larger announcement that aims to “protect, build, and transform Canadian strategic industries.” Part of this includes a new Buy Canadian Policy for the federal government as well as a Regional Tariff Response Initiative, which aims to help small and medium-sized businesses impacted by U.S. tariffs.

Automakers who were singing the praises of electric vehicles have suddenly changed their tune and started belting out Ice Ice Baby. They’re now getting a little help from Horse, which has unveiled a new powertrain that makes it easy to convert fully electric vehicles into range-extended EVs.

Set to debut at the Munich Motor Show, the Horse C15 is billed as an ultra-compact range extender that is “no larger than a briefcase.” In fact, in naturally aspirated guise, it measures 19.7 inches (500 mm) long, 21.7 inches (550 mm) wide, and 10.8 inches (275 mm) deep.

While that’s massive for a briefcase, it’s surprisingly compact for a powertrain that consists of a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, a generator, inverter, and cooling package. It can be installed horizontally or vertically, and its small size means it could potentially fit into the ‘frunk’ of EVs.

This is where the genius of the idea lives as the C15 could be used to turn battery electric vehicles into range-extenders. This can be done with “minimal modification” and low costs, potentially saving automakers from an embarrassing EV-only mistake.

Horse says the C15 was designed to meet Euro 7 regulations and produces up to 94 hp (70 kW / 95 PS) in naturally aspirated form, which is designed for B- and C-segment vehicles. For larger models, there’s a turbocharged engine offering up to 161 hp (120 kW / 163 PS).The company also said the engine is capable of running on gasoline, ethanol and methanol flex fuels as well as synthetic fuels.

 Horse Powertrain CEO Matias Giannini said, “Range extended EVs are the fastest-growing powertrain category in many global markets. The Horse C15 range-extender solution offers OEMs a straightforward and cost-effective way to tap into this opportunity, and adapt their native BEV platforms into REEVs.”

We haven’t heard much about the Polestar 5 lately, but it appears detailed specifications have leaked ahead of the car’s launch later this year. On top of that, it sounds like we can expect two Launch Editions.

While everything should be taken with a grain of salt, the Polestar 5 Long Range Dual-Motor Launch Edition will apparently start under £90,000 ($120,995) in the United Kingdom. It will reportedly come nicely equipped with adaptive pixel LED headlights, frameless windows, and rain-sensing wipers. Customers can also expect digital side mirrors, soft-close doors, and 20-inch wheels.

Once inside, drivers will reportedly find a 9-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.5-inch infotainment system, and a 9.3-inch heads up display. They’ll be joined by heated front seats wrapped in bio-attributed MicroTech upholstery. The luxury car is also slated to have a four-zone climate control system, a 15 watt wireless smartphone charger, aluminum or black ash wood trim, and a trunk that holds 12.9 cubic feet (365 liters) of luggage.

If the standard model isn’t fancy enough, there will be a handful of options. These are said to include Nappa leather, a microsuede headliner, and a Bowers & Wilkins premium audio system.

If the latter figure is correct, it would be a significant improvement over Polestar’s original estimate of 664 lb-ft (900 Nm).

Thanks to the extra oomph, the dash from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) could fall to 3.2 seconds. Unfortunately, the range could also drop to 351 miles (565 km).

Besides being faster and more powerful, the Performance variant is slated to have a sport-tuned suspension with semi-active dampers. They could be joined by larger 21-inch wheels as well as additional equipment including the aforementioned microsuede headliner and Bowers & Wilkins premium audio system.

This week, GM reported record EV sales for the month of August as consumers rushed to take advantage of the clean vehicle tax credit that expires on September 30. That trend was also seen elsewhere as Hyundai reported a 72% year-over-year increase in EV sales.

The Ioniq 5 was the big winner as sales jumped 61% to 7,773 units. Even the slow-selling Ioniq 6 got a shot in the arm as sales increased 30% to 1,047 units. Lastly, there’s the Ioniq 9, which found 1,016 takers.

Putting EVs aside, Hyundai Motor America set an all-time August sales record of 88,523 units. That was a 12% increase from a year ago and the company said the Elantra N, Elantra Hybrid, Santa Fe Hybrid, Santa Fe family, Palisade, and Ioniq 5 all achieved record August sales.

The redesigned Palisade was the big standout as sales jump 39% compared to a year ago. The three-row crossover starts at $38,935 and features a boxy new design as well as a classier cabin. Mainstream variants have a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 287 hp (214 kW / 291 PS) and 260 lb-ft (352 Nm) of torque.

Customers can also opt for a new hybrid, which begins at $43,660. It features an eco-friendly powertrain that consists of a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, a 1.65 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, a six-speed automatic transmission, and two electric motors. This gives the crossover a combined output of 329 hp (245 kW / 334 PS) and a fuel economy rating of up to 34 mpg.

We’re especially proud of the record-breaking results from key models like the Elantra HEV, Palisade, and Ioniq 5, which continue to resonate strongly with customers.” Of course, sales of Ioniq models will likely collapse following the elimination of the tax credit, so things aren’t as rosy as they seem.

Hyundai US Sales August 2025

Rivian is celebrating the grand opening of their latest space in Miami’s Mary Brickell Village. It’s the company’s second location in the area and it spans roughly 4,000 square feet.

Since store openings are rarely exciting, Rivian decided to up the ante by unveiling a specially designed R1S that “pays tribute to Miami’s vibrant design heritage and its lasting impact on pop culture.” In this case, the model draws inspiration from the 1980’s and embraces an eye-catching color palette worthy of the era.

As you can see, the electric SUV sports a white exterior that is broken up by black accents as well as blue and teal side stripes. They’re joined by pink tow hooks and a teal front bumper accent. These colorful touches can also be found on the wheels, which sport black, pink, white, and teal flourishes.

Rivian didn’t say much about the interior, but it appears to feature Ocean Coast upholstery with pink accents on the headrests. We can also see special floor mats that feature a blue and white pattern as well as a teal border.

The company said the vehicle “captures the spirit of our brand – celebrating creativity and nostalgia in a way that feels both fresh and uniquely Rivian.”

Since the one-off model is based on the R1S Tri-Motor, it features three electric motors producing a combined output of 850 hp (634 kW / 862 PS). This enables the SUV to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in less than 2.9 seconds and travel up to 371 miles (597 km) on a single charge.

The clean vehicle tax credit is set to expire on September 30 and that looming deadline has kept dealers busy. In fact, GM said “U.S. electric vehicle sales likely set an all-time monthly record in August” as consumers made a mad dash to buy an EV before the incentive expires.

Thanks to the rush, GM sold more than 21,000 EVs in August to set a new monthly record. While the automaker didn’t release hard numbers, they reported strong demand for the affordable Chevrolet Equinox EV as well as the upscale Cadillac Lyriq and GMC Sierra EV.

General Motors went on to say they’re the second best-selling EV company in America and they’re expecting a busy September as well. What happens next is the big mystery, but sales are expected to collapse.

GM North America President Duncan Aldred said, “There’s no doubt we’ll see lower EV sales next quarter after tax credits end September 30, and it may take several months for the market to normalize.” He went on to say “we will almost certainly see a smaller EV market” and the company will respond by cutting production. Despite this grim outlook, Aldred believes they can still grow their electric vehicle market share.

As he explained, before the Inflation Reduction Act was passed, the strongest EV segments were for luxury and affordable vehicles. GM has these bases covered with Cadillac as well as the Equinox EV and reborn Chevrolet Bolt.

The automaker added, “We are seeing marginal competitors dramatically scale back their products and plans, which should end much of the overproduction and irrational discounts we’ve seen in the marketplace.” GM also noted their ICE-powered lineup will “continue to separate our brands from the pack and give us flexibility and profitability that EV-only companies lack.”

Audi has officially unveiled the Concept C, just ahead of its first public outing at the Munich Motor Show. It’s a stunning hardtop roadster that previews the brand’s new design philosophy as well as a production model that will likely be based on the redesigned Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman duo.

Looking bold and minimalist, the concept embraces the spirit of the legendary Auto Union Type C racer and features the all-new “Audi brand face.” The latter is a radical departure as it features a rectangular grille with a portrait orientation.

The grille is flanked by angular accents, which channel air into vertical curtains. They’re joined by slender four-element headlights, which are slated to become a design hallmark that will “define Audi’s visual identity during both day and night.”

The eye-catching design continues further back as the concept has a rakish windscreen and streamlined bodywork. The latter features taut surfaces, sharp lines, and a pronounced shoulder that runs the entire length of the vehicle.

While the aerodynamic wheels and sporty side skirts draw attention, the retractable hardtop is the real star. It’s the first ever used on an Audi roadster and it promises to deliver the open-air benefits of a convertible as well as the styling and security of a coupe.

The roof is broken up into two different sections and a rear hatch opens to reveal a storage space. The roof then slides backwards, before the hatch closes. It operates similarly to the Porsche 911 Targa, which isn’t surprising as the two share a like-minded design.

Out back, there’s a relatively plain rear end with a wide diffuser and four-element taillights. The model also eschews a rear window for a camera.

A Minimalist Interior Free Of Distractions

The industrial design carries over to the cabin, which has all the ambience and glamour of an airport gate. Drivers sit behind a reimagined steering wheel and find themselves looking at a digital instrument cluster.

While this is fairly typical, Audi embraced a ‘shy tech’ approach to minimize distractions. As part of this effort, the model has a 10.4-inch infotainment system that folds out of the way when it’s no longer needed.

Elsewhere, we can see digital climate controls, anodized aluminum accents, and indirect ambient lighting. The automaker also eschewed leather for stylish cloth upholstery.

Production Model Inbound

While the car is technically a study, Audi confirmed it’s a “concrete preview of a production vehicle.” It will be built at their Böllinger Höfe plant and it’s expected to arrive in 2027.

Besides previewing a future production model, the concept’s exterior and interior design will influence other road-going vehicles. While those changes are likely a ways off, Audi confirmed plans to introduce an entry-level EV next year that will be built in Ingolstadt. 2026 will also see the introduction of new performance models, which will likely include the S6 and RS6 Avant.

The Mercedes EQE was introduced at the 2021 Munich Motor Show and followed by the EQE SUV roughly one year later. While both models are still relatively new, they’ll reportedly be killed off next year.

According to Autocar, the move follows an internal reassessment of Mercedes electric vehicle plans and a desire to eliminate overlap. It also goes without saying, sales haven’t been great. In the United States, combined EQE sales plummeted 39% last year to 11,660 units.

The move probably shouldn’t be too surprising as previous reports had suggested the automaker would stop producing some US-spec EQ models. Regardless of what happens, the EQE starts at $64,950 and climbs to $96,600 for the AMG variant, which offers a dreadful 220 miles (354 km) of range.

The EQE SUV also starts at $64,950, but its AMG variant is more costly at $97,400. On the bright side, the latter crossover offers 230 miles (370 km) of range.

The report says both models will be “indirectly replaced” by the upcoming C-Class and GLC EVs. However, Mercedes previously confirmed plans for an E-Class EV and this would be a direct successor to the EQE – assuming the program hasn’t been cut. When that model was teased earlier this year, the company said it would ditch its soapy shape and adopt a classic “3-box limousine design” as well as a “very status-oriented wheelbase.”

BMW Motorrad has unveiled the new Vision CE concept, ahead of its debut at the Munich Motor Show on September 8. It’s an electric scooter with a seat and roll cage, which eliminate the “need for a helmet as well as protective clothing.”

While that might be true, the resulting design leaves a lot to be desired as the concept looks like a combination of the CE 04 and a mobility scooter. It features a fairly traditional front end, which is connected to two square-ish bars that encircle the rider.

The concept also sports slender headlights, roll cage-mounted auxiliary lights, and a small windscreen. The tubular design is echoed further below and they’re accompanied by mid-mounted deflectors. BMW also envisions the scooter could be customized with everything from a removable Bluetooth speaker to a transparent roof and a rear luggage rack.

The rider sits on a unique seat, which features a backrest and headrest as well as a seatbelt. We can also see a metal mesh section above the headrest, which presumably acts as an additional layer of protection.

Sticking with the cockpit, riders will find a large digital display as well as traditional handle bars. They’re joined by pronounced footrests and a covered charging port.

BMW didn’t say much about the concept, but confirmed it’s electric and has a “balancing function, which allows the vehicle to completely balance itself when stationary.” The company also said the Vision CE was designed to give users an “increased sense of freedom” as well as a “casual, carefree riding experience.”

Do you like the Tesla Model 3 Performance, but wish it came in a slightly more practical package? If so, you’re in luck as the Model Y Performance will apparently debut tomorrow.

While the automaker isn’t saying much, they released a “spoiler alert” on X showing a mysterious vehicle with a blurry spoiler. It’s presumably the Model Y Performance, which was spied earlier this year.

As previous pictures have shown, the crossover will look virtually identical to the regular model. However, the production variant could have sportier bumpers, a revised spoiler, and a modified diffuser. We can also expect unique wheels that are backed up by a high-performance braking system with red calipers.

The sportier styling should extend to the cabin thanks to supportive seats and carbon fiber trim. Other than that, it should largely carryover and include a 15.4-inch display as well as an 8-inch rear touchscreen.

Like the Model 3 Performance, the crossover will likely have an upgraded dual-motor powertrain that produces 510 hp (380 kW / 517 PS) and 546 lb-ft (741 Nm) of torque. This enables the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 2.9 seconds with the rollout subtracted.

We can also expect a “performance-oriented chassis” with unique components that reduce mass and improve stiffness. Other highlights could include adaptive dampers, ultra-high strength steel springs, and stiffer suspension mounts.

We’ll learn full details soon enough, but it appears the Model Y Performance will initially be launched in Europe and the Middle East. It should eventually come to the United States and cost around $58,000.

The Porsche Macan Electric is getting even better for 2026 as the company has announced a host of upgrades. These include new features, AI integration, and an increased towing capacity.

While the updates are a bit scattershot, the Macan Electric is embracing digital key technology. This will enable iPhone and Android users to automatically unlock and start their vehicle, while leaving their phone in a pocket or purse. This is possible thanks to the use of Near Field Communication (NFC), Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), and Ultra-Wideband (UWB) connectivity, and Apple Watch users can also get in on the action.

The technology also allows owners to easily ‘share’ keys with up to seven other users. Owners can determine if these users can simply access the vehicle or drive it.

New Automated Driving Features

Speaking of driving, the optional 3D Surround View system with Active Parking Support gains several new features including a Transparent Hood view. More interestingly, there’s a new Trained Parking function that enables owners to record individual parking routines such as pulling into a garage. After ‘learning’ the routine, the crossover can automatically perform it time and time again.

Another new addition is Reversing Assist, which allows the Macan to automatically reverse along a route it has previously driven forwards. The crossover remembers up to 160 feet (48.8 meters) and Porsche said this is useful for backing up in tight situations.

Sticking with the tech theme, the Porsche Charging Planner has been “optimized” and now allows owners to prioritize individual charging stations and providers. This implies customers could set up the system to favor Electrify America stations over rivals.

AirConsole Gaming

When you’re waiting for a charge or simply killing time, you can play games with the new AirConsole, which is accessible via the Porsche App Center. Smartphones can be used as controllers and games are typically played on the central infotainment system when parked. However, the optional front passenger display can also be used to play games when the vehicle is in motion and drivers shouldn’t be distracted due to Porsche’s integrated screen privacy feature.

AirConsole said owners can expect an assortment of “short-session, casual games optimized for the in-car environment” ranging from racing and trivia games to those involving sports. Among the more popular options are UNO and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?

AI And Improved Towing Capacities

If you’re not in the mood to play, you can talk to your crossover via Voice Pilot. It promises to be smarter than ever before thanks to the integration of artificial intelligence. Porsche said the voice assistant now understands “complex, interrelated questions and recognizes what a statement is referring to.”

Rounding out the highlights is an increased towing capacity for the Macan 4, Macan 4S, and Macan Turbo. They can now tow up to 5,500 lbs (2,495 kg), which is a sizable increase of 1,100 lbs (499 kg). Customers will also find a handful of new customization options including new choices for the door sill guards and door courtesy lights.

The 2026 Macan Electric is currently available to order and U.S. deliveries will begin next spring.

A BMW iX3 prototype has been involved in a serious crash with a bus in Hungary. Local reports suggest multiple people were injured and several passengers were thrown from the bus.

The bus’ operator, MÁV-csoport, said the vehicle was traveling to Gyöngyös when the iX3 “drifted into the lane” of the bus and “crashed into it head-on.” Seven passengers on the bus – including a child – were injured as was the bus driver.

Photos from the scene show the devastation as the bus’ front end was smashed, while several windows were broken. The front side section was also ripped off and mangled.

MÁV-csoport said the driver “did his best to avoid the collision,” but “didn’t have a chance against the oncoming car.” The company also noted the bus was “totally damaged and a considerable amount of fuel flowed onto the road.”

The incident reportedly occurred near Mátrafüred and Gyöngyös Ma claimed the electric crossover was driving too fast. That remains to be seen, but the prototype appears to have been totaled as the entire front end was obliterated.

In the few pictures taken before the crossover was covered, we can see the front wheel was ‘ripped’ off, while the bumper and front fender were apparently destroyed. The hood was also popped open, while the airbags deployed.

While a number of questions remain, the iX3 will become the first member of the Neue Klasse family and will debut at the Munich Motor Show next month. It will be built in Debrecen, Hungry which is roughly two hours away from the accident site.

When President Donald Trump signed The One Big Beautiful Bill into law, it sped up the elimination of the clean vehicle tax credit. The $7,500 incentive was originally set to expire on December 31, 2032, but that date was moved forward to September 30, 2025.

The change has helped to drive EV sales as some consumers are rushing to buy one before the tax credit expires. However, they’re getting a little bit of breathing room thanks to new guidance by the IRS.

As noticed by Investor’s Business Daily, the IRS states the new and previously-owned “credit will not be allowed for any vehicle acquired after September 30, 2025.” While that was expected, the meaning of “acquired” takes on a lot of significance.

While the initial expectation was that a vehicle needed to be in customer hands, the IRS says a “vehicle is ‘acquired’ as of the date a written binding contract is entered into and a payment has been made.” They went on to note a payment can include everything from a trade-in to a “nominal” amount.

Unfortunately, things aren’t that easy as the IRS said “acquisition alone does not immediately entitle a taxpayer to a credit” as it’s just an “initial step.” However, they noted “If a taxpayer acquires a vehicle by having a written binding contract in place and a payment made on or before September 30, 2025, then the taxpayer will be entitled to claim the credit when they place the vehicle in service (namely, when they take possession of the vehicle), even if the vehicle is placed in service after September 30, 2025.”

This means as long as you sign paperwork and make a payment before September 30, you should still get your tax credit. Strangely, the IRS didn’t mention a final deadline for customers to take delivery. While that’s puzzling, it means customers don’t have to stress out about getting an EV that might be in short supply as the tax credit winds down.

After a lengthy delay, Cadillac began Celestiq deliveries earlier this year. They’re now picking up pace and the latest model was delivered to Michigander Mark Mitchell.

His ultra-luxury flagship was delivered in a private ceremony at The Daxton Hotel in Birmingham yesterday. While Cadillac House is only a stone’s throw away in Warren, the hotel was a fitting location as it’s owned by Mitchell.

Besides receiving his Siku Tricoat Celestiq, which features a Camelia and Sheer Gray interior, Mitchell got his car signed by GM President Mark Reuss, who was in attendance for the event. Mitchell was delighted and said, “The vehicle completely surpassed my expectations.”

As a brief refresher, the car features a dual-motor all-wheel drive system that produces 655 hp (488 kW / 664 PS) and 646 lb-ft (875 Nm) of torque. It’s powered by a 111 kWh battery pack, which provides approximately 303 miles (488 km) of range.

A Brand Revamp And A New XT5

While the Celestiq marks the company’s return to the ultra-luxury segment, Cadillac’s John Roth recently noted the brand was struggling as recently as 2015. As he explained, “The product portfolio was good, but not great” and they were spending too much on incentives to attract buyers.

This caused a major rethink and a massive investment that would transform the brand. Part of this was driven by a plan to have Cadillac go electric-only and this necessitated a slew of new models including the Optiq, Lyriq, Vistiq, Escalade IQ, and Celestiq.

While that plan was ultimately abandoned, Cadillac has a lot of new product and roughly 25% of sales now come from EVs. The company also noted the Optiq, Lyriq, and Vistiq are conquest kings as more than 70% of buyers are new to the brand.

That’s good news, but a majority of sales still come from ICE-powered vehicles. This is a problem as the XT4 and XT6 are toast, while the XT5 is a dinosaur. However, the company is working to address that as Roth recently told dealers about the next-generation XT5.

The redesigned crossover will be launched in the second-half of 2027 and is expected to echo its Chinese counterpart. However, the US-spec model will be made in Tennessee and could use a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder that develops 328 hp (245 kW / 333 PS).

The Rolls-Royce Spectre is becoming even more exclusive as the ultra-luxury brand has unveiled a new Inspired by Primavera edition. It’s being billed as a “poetic exploration of spring expressed through a series of highly bespoke motor cars.”

Named after the Italian word for spring, the Primavera features a hand-painted coachline with a cherry blossom motif in front of the doors. The model also rides on unique 23-inch wheels, which have a “directional form” that is designed to recall “petals gradually opening to meet the spring light.”

The floral theme continues inside with colorful seats featuring embroidered cherry blossom headrests. They’re joined by illuminated sill plates with a cherry blossom design as well as “Spectre Inspired by Primavera” badging. Buyers will also find Starlight Doors, which have 4,796 hand-placed lights.

However, the star of the show is blackwood trim featuring an engraved cherry blossom motif. Rolls-Royce says the wallpaper like effect was “achieved by experimenting with 37 different laser densities to create a balanced contrast against the polished wood surface, followed by the development of a special sanding process that preserves the detail without diminishing the finish.”

The Spectre Inspired by Primavera will be offered in three “distinct expressions” known as Evanescent, Reverie, and Blossom. Each features a unique color scheme and the model will be available for commissioning until early 2026. Deliveries are then slated to begin shortly before spring.

Motivation comes from a 102 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which powers a dual-motor all-wheel drive system developing 577 hp (430 kW / 584 PS) and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque. This enables the standard model to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 4.4 seconds and have an EPA range of up to 277 miles
 (446 km).

Rugged trucks are big business and Ford offers an assortment of off-road focused models including the F-150 Tremor and F-150 Raptor. Besides dedicated trims, customers can get an FX4 off-road package.

Despite the popularity of these models, Ford hasn’t seen it fit to offer a rugged F-150 Lightning. It’s a strange oversight considering General Motors offers the Chevrolet Silverado EV Trail Boss, the GMC Sierra EV AT4, and GMC Hummer EV Pickup.

Ford is now gearing up to respond, but fans shouldn’t get too excited as it looks like the company is raiding the parts bin to cobble together a soft-roader. The changes are so small they’re easy to overlook, but the prototype appears to be riding on black 18-inch wheels sourced from the old F-150 Rattler. They’re wrapped in Goodyear Wrangler Territory all-terrain tires, which are a tad meatier than the all-season rubber typically found on higher-end versions of the truck.

We can also see side steps, covered badging, and some light camouflage. The latter could potentially be hiding a hood graphic as well as bedside decals.

Baldauf

Additional changes are limited, but we can see a brand-new grille with a prominent blue line. This echoes the F-150 Tremor, which has an orange grille accent. Spy photographers also noted the bright blue exterior appears to be new to the F-150 Lightning lineup.

Spy photographers didn’t get a good look inside, but the seats were covered. This could indicate they’ll have special embroidery, but that remains to be seen.

We’ll learn full details soon enough, but the current truck offers 98, 123, and 131 kWh battery packs. They’re paired to dual-motor all-wheel drive systems developing between 452 hp (337 kW / 458 PS) and 580 hp (433 kW / 588 PS).

Baldauf

The Ford Bronco Raptor is one of the coolest off-roaders on the market and it’s powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 with 418 hp (312 kW / 424 PS) and 440 lb-ft (596 Nm) of torque. While those are respectable numbers, they pale in comparison to the Jeep Wrangler 392, which has a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 pumping out 470 hp (350 kW / 476 PS) and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm).

However, Ford could use the nuclear option and create an ungodly $300,000 off-road beast that draws inspiration from Dakar Rally racers. While the idea sounds crazy, the Mustang GTD appears to be a success and the automaker could replicate that idea in different ways.

Ford CEO Jim Farley disclosed the idea to Bloomberg’s Hot Pursuit! podcast as he said there’s “no Porsche of off-road and I’m shocked people don’t think about that.” While Porsche and their 911 Dakar may beg to differ, the executive said he’s very interested in that idea.

Farley went on to claim no one’s done an off-road supercar, despite the existence of the Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato. However, he dismissed it as saying the car wouldn’t last on the Baja 500.

The executive went on to mention a 1,000 hp (746 kW / 1,014 PS) supercar that would be partially electric. Farley suggested the model would be fully adjustable and this would apply to suspension travel, damping, and ride height. He went on to specify it’s “not a pickup truck” and would be able to race off-road.

The Blue Oval boss went on to suggest it would be a high-speed supercar for gravel, sand, and dirt but not rock crawling. Farley said he’s talking to his team about such a vehicle and isn’t sure if it should be a two- or four-seater.

While nothing has been decided, the executive said he’s “thinking really deeply about it” and “that usually turns into something.” He went on to suggest there’s too much sameness with modern supercars and this could be a way to shake things up.

Not A Brand For Posers

Besides talking about a possible off-road supercar, Farley said Ford’s a “weird brand” as they have no problem selling affordable vehicles as well as 5,000 F-150 Raptor R’s at $120,000. In the case of the ultra-expensive Mustang GTD, he suggested the brand can do this because they have “motorsports history” and that gives them permission to do things other automakers can’t.

Speaking of the GTD, the executive said they “don’t want posers” or people who will just keep it in their car collection. More refreshingly, he said ‘Let’s not screw the people that bought these expensive cars’ by building too many or allowing flippers to take over the market. As he explained, if people love the car and don’t end up losing money on it, they’ll likely be willing to buy the next special vehicle from Ford. We’ve already seen this play out as there have been repeat Ford GT buyers as well as GT buyers who have purchased a Mustang GTD.
