Of Course, The New AUDI E5 EV Is Ridiculously Cheap In China

  • The base version features a 76 kWh battery and rear motor producing 295 hp (220 kW).
  • AUDI’s most range-focused model has a 100 kWh pack and 480 miles (773 km) of range.
  • Sitting at the top of the range is the Flagship Quattro dual-motor version with 776 hp.

A few months after Audi unveiled the all-electric E5 Sportback in China under its new all-caps AUDI brand, pricing for the model has now been confirmed. As is often the case with new EVs in China, the E5 arrives at surprisingly low prices, even by the country’s competitive market standards.

The pitch is simple: blend German engineering and build quality with the advanced tech features that Chinese automakers have made their trademark.

Four different versions of the E5 will be offered: the Pioneer, Pioneer Plus, Pioneer Quattro, and Flagship Quattro. Prices for the base Pioneer started at 235,900 yuan or $32,800. This version comes with a rear-mounted electric motor delivering 295 hp (220 kW) and is equipped with a 76 kWh battery pack. It has a claimed range of 384 miles (618 km) on the CLTC cycle.

Sitting above this model is the Pioneer Plus. It retains the rear-wheel drive layout, but power has been increased to 402 hp (300 kW). It also comes standard with a larger 100 kWh battery pack, bumping up the price to 269,900 yuan ($37,500), and growing the range to 480 miles (773 km).

Starting at the same price is the Pioneer Quattro. It has a smaller 83 kWh pack, but dual motors, delivering a combined 518 hp (386 kW) and covering 387 miles (623 km) on a charge.

The Flagship Quattro model is priced from 319,900 yuan ($44,500), which is still very reasonable. It has a 100 kWh battery, 402 miles (647 km) of range, and pumps out an impressive 776 hp (579 kw). That’s good enough to send it to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.4 seconds.

All AUDI E5 Sportback models come standard with a LiDAR, three millimeter-wave radars, 11 cameras, and 12 ultrasonic radars for an advanced driver-assistance system.

Dominating the interior of the new EV is a huge 59-inch screen that stretches the entire width of the dashboard and includes displays for the digital wing mirrors. For an Audi, the cabin is quite minimalist, bathed in soft-touch leather and Alcantara, and complete with two wireless phone charges.

Deliveries of the E5 Sportback are scheduled to begin next month. For now, the model remains exclusive to China, though its combination of price, power, and technology could make it an appealing export candidate if demand proves strong.

Tesla’s Model Y L Gets Bigger And Pricier With New Six-Seat Layout

Long-wheelbase vehicles are popular in China and Tesla has finally hopped on the bandwagon with the Model Y L. It’s a six-seat crossover geared towards growing families.

Jumping right into the numbers, the electric crossover measures 195.9 inches (4,976 mm) long, 83.8 inches (2,129 mm) wide, and 65.7 inches (1,668 mm) tall. This means the Model Y L is 7 inches (179 mm) longer than the regular model and is 1.7 inches (44 mm) taller.

Despite being significantly larger, the vehicle is instantly recognizable as a Model Y. However, the long-wheelbase variant is distinguished by a revised greenhouse, longer rear doors, and unique 19-inch wheels. It also has a more pronounced rear spoiler.

The updates continue inside as the 15.4-inch infotainment system has been replaced by a larger 16-inch display. More notably, there are second-row captain’s chairs that have heating and ventilation as well as power-folding armrests and a power-folding seat function.

The heated third-row seat looks a little tight, but it folds flat at the push of a button. We can also see rear air vents and cup holders.

If cargo is more important than people, you’ll find 89.7 cubic feet (2,539 liters) of storage space. That’s 14.2 cubic feet (401 liters) more than the regular Model Y.

Other notable highlights include a panoramic glass roof and acoustic glass to keep the cabin hushed. They’re joined by an 18-speaker audio system and an 8-inch rear display.

Tesla only revealed a handful of powertrain details, but confirmed the Model Y L has a dual-motor all-wheel drive system and a CLTC range of 467 miles (751 km). The crossover can accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 4.5 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds slower than its smaller sibling.

Given the larger dimensions, it’s not surprising to learn the crossover gains 212 lbs (96 kg) of weight to tip the scales at 4,603 lbs (2,088 kg). To cope with the increased mass, the Model Y L has an “upgraded suspension” that “allows for smooth and precise vehicle control in corners and on various terrains.”

The long versions starts at ¥339,000 ($47,199), which is only ¥25,500 ($3,550) more than the all-wheel drive Model Y. Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Departure Prevention come standard, while two driver assistance packages give you more advanced options.

Mahindra Built A Batman SUV And Somehow It’s Completely Serious

Those of you who thought the Mahindra BE 6 had a touch of Batmobile flair may feel vindicated, as the company is now offering a Batman Edition of the EV. Marketed as “the world’s first commercially available Batman-inspired SUV”, it will be limited to 300 units and sold exclusively in India.

The Mahindra BE 6 Batman Edition was developed in partnership with Warner Bros Discovery Global Consumer Products, similar to last year’s Pininfarina specials. Unlike the ultra-exclusive, high-priced models from Mahindra’s luxury arm,this collaboration applies the Batman aesthetic to a more accessible electric SUV.

The movie franchise may have moved on to Matt Reeves’ The Batman starring Robert Pattinson, but this edition takes its cues from Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy, where Christian Bale donned the iconic suit.

Bat Stickers Galore

Visually, the stealthy exterior of the BE 6 combines a custom Satin Black shade with gloss black accents. However, the standout feature is the Batman decal on the front doors, complemented by a golden bat emblem on the front fenders. Gold also appears on the springs and brake calipers, tucked behind the 20-inch alloy wheels.

Mahindra designers added more bat emblems on the hub caps, rear bumper, windows, and rear windshield, knowing that the SUV will be driven by the biggest fans of the DC Comics superhero – if not by Bruce Wayne himself.

Furthermore, there is a Batman Edition sticker on the rear door cladding and special puddle lights serving as the equivalent of the Bat Signal spotlight for the road. Another highlight is the Infinity Roof with an illuminated Dark Knight Trilogy Bat emblem on the glass.

As expected, the Batman treatment carries through to the cabin. Black suede and leather upholstery are paired with gold accents and detailing. The bat silhouette appears on the seats, interior labels, door straps, dashboard trim, and in the custom welcome graphics of the digital cockpit. A final touch is the “Brushed Alchemy Gold Batman Edition” numbered plaque mounted on the center console.

Pratap Bose, Chief Design and Creative Officer at Mahindra & Mahindra commented: “The BE 6 has always been about boldness and forward thinking. With the Batman Edition, we wanted to go further – to create something so personal, so visually arresting, that owning it feels like owning a piece of cinematic history. We’ve obsessed over even the smallest detail, so that every time you look at it, you discover something new.”

Performance and pricing

This special edition is based on the most powerful BE 6 variant, producing 282 hp (210 kW / 286 PS) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque from a single rear-mounted electric motor. Its 79 kWh battery delivers a WLTP range of 550 km (342 miles).

Mahindra even gave it “Batman-inspired” exterior sounds, because if you are going to drive something like this, it might as well sound like it’s about to chase down the Joker.

Pricing starts at ₹27.79 lakh (about $27,200), roughly $1,000 more than the standard model, yet still making it one of the cheapest rides you could picture in Bruce Wayne’s fictional garage. Only 300 will be made, with orders opening August 23 and first deliveries timed perfectly for International Batman Day on September 20, just in case you wanted an excuse to wear a cape to the dealership

The First Autonomous Robocar You Can Own Hides Its Steering Wheel Until It Wants You To Drive

While a number of companies are focused on robotaxis, Tensor has unveiled the first “fully autonomous L4 robocar that you can own.” That’s a bold claim from a company that can’t seem to cobble together a proper press kit, so forgive us if we’re a little hesitant to hand over the keys to our survival.

From the hodgepodge of information that the company released, we can see their robocar is actually a “luxury crossover SUV” that looks like a bloated Toyota Prius. It features an awkward-looking front end with sensors and SignalScreens. The latter are used to communicate with other road users via CarMoji.

Moving further back, we can see streamlined bodywork, aerodynamic wheels, and digital side mirrors that help the model to have a drag coefficient of 0.253. The robocar also sports double-laminated glass as well as rear coach doors for easy entry and egress. Speaking of the doors, they have PalmRead technology that allows people to access the vehicle without keys or their phone.

In terms of size, the robocar measures 217.5 inches (5,525 mm) long, 89 inches (2,261 mm) wide, and 78.3 inches (1,989 mm) tall with a wheelbase that spans 124 inches (3,150 mm). This means the model is significantly larger than other electric crossover such as the Cadillac Vistiq and Tesla Model X.

A Transforming Cabin

The interior looks basic, but it’s notable for having retractable pedals and a retractable steering wheel. When the latter is tucked into the dash, a display slides over so it’s in front of the ‘driver.’

Speaking of screens, there’s a front passenger display as well as a dual-screen rear entertainment system. Tensor also said the model comes nicely equipped with a heated steering wheel as well as heated, ventilated, and massaging seats. Other highlights include suede and fabric upholstery, a 128-color ambient lighting system, and dual wireless smartphone chargers.

While the interior is pretty bland, the company claims the model is the “world’s first AI agentic car” and goes “far beyond a basic voice assistant.” In particular, they said an “AI agent continuously processes data from in-cabin cameras, microphones, and other sensors.” The company claims this will enable owners to say something along the lines of “Pick up Mom from her house and bring her here” or “Drop me off at the airport and then return home.”

Despite all the monitoring equipment, Tensor said they’re focused on privacy and all data is processed and stored locally. However, they noted “users can access their data via the end-to-end encrypted smartphone app” and, let’s face it, anything connected to the internet isn’t 100% safe. On the bright side, if you’re concerned about privacy and security, there are physical camera covers and microphone off switches.

Electric And Autonomous

Powertrain details are sparse as the company said the model is an EV with a 112 kWh battery pack. When the battery is low, it can go from a 20% to 80% charge in as little as 10 minutes. Tensor also mentioned the crossover has four-wheel steering and an air suspension.

The real star is the Level 4 autonomous driving technology that allows the vehicle to “operate entirely without driver input under defined conditions.” This is enabled by over 100 sensors including 37 cameras, 5 lidars, 11 radars, 22 microphones, 10 ultrasonic sensors, 3 IMUs, GNSS, 16 collision detectors, 8 water-level detectors, 4 tire-pressure sensors, and 1 smoke detector.

Of course, if you prefer to drive yourself, you can still take the wheel and operate it like any other car.

Since the robocar is designed for normal people who won’t spend time prepping it for every journey, Tensor had to develop a way to protect and clean the various sensors. As a result, there’s an intelligent cleaning system with dedicated wipers and nozzles as well as protective sensor covers that deploy when the vehicle is not in use. The car also has self-diagnosis to ensure everything is in working order.

The sensors feed data to an onboard supercomputer with 8,000 TOPs. There’s also a “dual-system AI” that “mirrors human cognition.” The company said, “System 1 delivers fast, reflexive responses through imitation learning from expert drivers, while System 2 uses a sophisticated multimodal Visual Language Model to reason through rare and complex edge cases.” The end result is supposedly confident navigation even in rain or fog.

Tensor went on to say their “advanced electrical and electronic architecture delivers full-stack redundancy – across power, communications, and control – ensuring fail-operational performance in any scenario.”

Could Arrive As Early As Next Year

While a number of questions remain, the company has partnered with VinFast, who will build the robocar at their Hai Phong factory in Vietnam. If everything goes according to plan, the first deliveries will occur in the second half of 2026 and the model will be offered in Europe, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates.

Lastly, the company has partnered with Marsh to offer the “world’s first insurance policy for robocars.” This promises to deliver cheap rates as “data shows that L4 autonomous vehicles are safer, and your insurance premiums should reflect that.”

You’ve Never Seen A Rivian R1S Like This Before

A new take on Rivian’s SUV is making its debut at Pebble Beach, marking the brand’s first custom one-off model. This special edition of the R1S pairs the company’s quad motor powertrain with a set of distinctive exterior and interior touches designed to stand out on one of the world’s most prestigious automotive stages.

The bodywork of the 2026 R1S Quad Pebble Beach is finished in a bespoke shade called Monterey Silver, which changes between silver and champagne depending on the angle and the lighting and is combined with subtle bronze accents.

The EV rides on a custom set of forged 22-inch wheels with a three-tone finish, matching the shades of the exterior. Finally, it has Laguna Beach Blue brake calipers and special badges like the little mascot on the tailgate.

The interior is full of bespoke details that wouldn’t be possible in a series production vehicle. Door cards and seats are upholstered in Pebble Stone Adventex, a woven textile with a distinctive texture, complemented by cross stitching and wood inserts. Stainless steel trim surrounds the audio speakers, while the floor mats are hand sprayed and dyed to create a gradient reminiscent of a coastal sunset.

Rivian / Broad Arrow Auctions

The Pebble Beach special is based on the most powerful version of the R1S without any mechanical upgrades. This means it is powered by four electric motors generating a combined 1,025 hp (764 kW / 1,039 PS) and 1,198 lb-ft (1,624 Nm) of torque. The AWD model can still tow up to 7,700 pounds (3,492 kg), has a NACS-compatible charging port and an EPA-estimated range of 338 miles (544 km).

The 2026 R1S Quad Pebble Beach is set to cross the auction block today through Broad Arrow Auctions, with estimates exceeding $130,000. Considering the standard R1S Quad starts at $121,990, the premium reflects the exclusivity and craftsmanship of this single build. The SUV will also be on display at The Quail on Friday, August 15, before heading to its new owner.

The first one-off Rivian is not expected to be the last. The Pebble Beach special will likely be followed by other bespoke examples of Rivian models in the future, targeting buyers with deeper pockets and collectors.

Two decades ago, the Bugatti Veyron rewrote the rule book for supercars, hitting the market with four-figure horsepower that was previously inconceivable for a production car. Fast forward 20 years, and we’re in the midst of an EV horsepower war, currently led by the Rimac Nevera R and its 2,107 hp and the Lotus Evija with its 1,972 hp. But, 2,000-odd horsepower isn’t enough for BYD, so it’s gearing up to release a hypercar with a combined 2,977 hp.

This new model, badged as the Track Edition of the YangWang U9, has been uncovered in photos from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and laughs in the face of high-powered European EVs.

A Road Car with Racing Numbers

The U9 Track Edition will be powered by four electric motors, each with 744 hp or 555 kW. The combined output is rated at a ridiculous 2,976 hp, or 2,200 kW, which works out to be a grand total of 3,019 PS. That’s an insane figure for a road car, let alone one that can be legally driven on public roads.

Importantly, there’s no confirmation from BYD that all four electric motors will always operate at their peak, or if power will be limited to make the hypercar easier to drive.

The Other Changes

The U9 Track Edition retains most of the same exterior components as the “regular” model, but has some small upgrades. The changes start at the front end, where YangWang’s designers have crafted a new splitter to increase downforce over the front wheels.

There is also a lightweight carbon fiber roof, and new 20-inch wheels with 325-section front and rear tires. The rear half looks mostly the same as the standard model, complete with a swan neck-style rear wing and a large diffuser.

MIIT documents list the U9 Track Edition’s top speed at 217 mph (350 km/h), but it should be capable of more than that. The standard model has already been tested to 244 mph (391.91 km/h), and it makes do with ‘only’ 1,287 hp.

New Acura RSX Shows Its Face Ahead Of Debut

Update: Nearly eight months after Acura first previewed the reborn RSX, a nameplate returning in a form few expected, the company has released a second teaser, this time revealing the front of the pre-production model. The new RSX is an electric coupe-crossover, and its face adopts a clean, aggressive design. There’s a subtle nod to Acura’s classic “beak” in the sculpted lines, but no traditional grille. Instead, slim headlamps anchor a minimalist front end.

Alongside the teaser image, Acura also confirmed that the RSX Prototype will make its global debut during Monterey Car Week in California, running from August 8 to 17. Original story continues below.

Hot on the heels of the company’s retro-name revival that has already included the likes of the Integra and the Honda Prelude, Acura has announced the comeback of the RSX. The catch? Well, it’s nothing like the RSX you might remember from your early 2000s daydreams.

This time around, the new RSX adopts an SUV body and will be Acura’s first model to ride on an all-new dedicated EV platform. Unlike the Acura ZDX, which borrows its underpinnings from General Motors, the RSX will ride on Honda’s newly developed in-house EV architecture, a significant step forward for the automaker’s electrification plans.

The introduction of the RSX is part of Acura’s plans to claw itself back up the sales charts. The automaker lost market share to competitors in 2024, as multiple models recorded double-digit drops in 2024. This will be only the second production EV to appear with an Acura badge on it, with executives highlighting the need for more battery-electric offerings.

A New EV Platform From Honda

The Honda-developed EV platform has already been shown off at CES 2025, underpinning the Honda 0 Series Saloon and SUV prototypes that will evolve into production models next year. Honda’s aim with its new EV platform will be to create lighter vehicles, as well as to reduce the overall height that most EVs require to fit their batteries inside the floor.

The new Acura RSX will also be the first EV produced at Honda’s new “EV Hub” in Ohio. The facilities at the Marysville Auto Plant, the East Liberty Auto Plant, and the Anna Engine Plant are undergoing a $700 million makeover and retooling. The Anna Engine Plant will be where the megacasting for Honda’s new Intelligent Power Unit (IPU) is made.

The IPU is a big step forward in Honda and Acura’s ambitions for EVs, serving as an integral part of the new EV platform. It’s also much larger than anything that Honda has die-cast before, and the initial development in North America, using domestic and globally sourced parts, is a win for American manufacturing.

Coupe Dreams Dashed

When news broke that the RSX name had been trademarked, first in Japan and then in the U.S., many predicted that the reborn nameplate would be affixed to a sporty coupe. Although the Integra nameplate has been revived, the fact that it’s attached to a four-door sedan rather than a sporty coupe has been a sore point for longtime fans of the brand. The fact that Honda has revived the Prelude name even made some wonder if the new Acura RSX would be a more premium riff on the new coupe.

Instead, Acura takes a leaf from Mitsubishi by turning one of their beloved coupe nameplates into an SUV. When asked by CarScoops as to why the company opted to revive the RSX name for an electric SUV and not a sports car, a spokesperson said, “We believe RSX is the right name for our new all-electric SUV. This isn’t a “revival” of the previous RSX coupe. Globally, that model was sold and marketed as Integra, and we have seen resounding fan enthusiasm for the 5th gen Integra  — especially with the Type S.”

The RSX is said to take inspiration from the speedboat-like Performance EV Concept. From the one image we’ve been furnished with, it appears the new model retains some of the elements of the concept but goes for an overall more conventional approach.

The dramatic NSX-inspired rear appears to have given way to something more reminiscent of a BMW X6 or Tesla Model Y. Meanwhile, the coupe-like roofline has been profiled to be, well, less coupe-like. Still, it’s early days.

Acura hasn’t confirmed a firm on-sale date, but prototypes of the all-electric RSX will begin real-world testing this week. What we do know is that it’ll be the first car from either Honda or Acura to be built on the new EV platform at the Ohio EV Hub, so expect to start seeing the new RSX in showrooms in early 2026.

Jeep’s New Grand Wagoneer Shows Its Face But Hides Something Even Bigger

  • Jeep has teased the facelifted 2026 Grand Wagoneer, ahead of its debut this fall.
  • New design inspired by Wagoneer S features light bar and illuminated grille.
  • The luxury SUV could be offered with an all-new range-extended powertrain.

During a media briefing in Detroit, Jeep officials revealed four new models are coming in the next four months. This includes the redesigned Cherokee, the facelifted Grand Cherokee, and the all-new Recon. While we’ve already seen those vehicles before, Jeep has now released the first picture of the 2026 Grand Wagoneer.

Set to arrive this fall, the full-size SUV adopts an all-new front fascia that draws inspiration from the Wagoneer S. It features a minimalist seven-slot grille with an integrated LED light bar. They’re flanked by slimmer headlights that have horizontal daytime running lights.

The changes continue below with an edgier bumper, which has a larger air intake with linear accents. They’re accompanied by new lights that give off a bit of a Volvo vibe.

Eagle-eyed observers will also notice a charging port on the front fender, indicating this is likely the Grand Wagoneer 4xe. The range-extended variant was announced over a year ago and it’s expected to use the same powertrain as the Ram 1500 Ramcharger.

This means we can look forward to a 3.6-liter V6 engine, a dual-motor all-wheel drive system, and a roughly 92 kWh battery pack. This setup gives the truck 663 hp (494 kW / 672 PS) and 615 lb-ft (833 Nm) of torque as well as a range of up to 690 miles (1,110 km).

If you’re not ready to embrace electrification, there should be a familiar twin-turbo 3.0-liter Hurricane inline-six. It currently develops 540 hp (403 kW / 548 PS) and 521 lb-ft (706 Nm) of torque.

While the Grand Wagoneer got off to a less than stellar start, Jeep CEO Bob Broderdorf sounded upbeat on the future of their full-size SUVs. Electric cars tend to follow the familiar auto industry rhythm, each generation sticking around for six to ten years. But in China, where the EV market is evolving at breakneck speed, that timeline gets compressed. Just three years after the MG4 first hit the streets, it’s already getting a second-generation update. And this isn’t just a mild refresh.

The latest version brings a full redesign, a new platform, an overhauled interior, and most importantly, a semi-solid-state battery offering. Perhaps even more surprising of all, it starts at just 73,800 yuan, or just under $10,300.

It’s been almost five months since the first photos of the new MG4 surfaced, but only now have sales started and technical specifications been confirmed. The biggest headline is the battery. Among the available options is a semi-solid-state unit developed by QingTao Energy, which marks the first time a mass-produced EV features a battery pack of this kind.

A New Type of Battery Tech

While not a true solid-state battery, which uses no liquid electrolyte, the unit powering the second-gen MG4 contains just 5 percent liquid electrolyte, less than the semi-solid-state batteries found in the Nio ET5 and IM L6 Max Lightyear. Its energy density isn’t particularly impressive at 180 Wh/kg, but the 70 kWh pack is reportedly enough to give the electric hatchback a range of up to 334 miles (537 km).

This battery will not be standard, and the pricing for it has not been announced. What we do know is that the cheaper versions will be offered with 42.8 kWh and 53.9 kWh battery packs, offering 271 miles (437 km) and 329 miles (530 km) of range, respectively.

The base 73,800 yuan ($10,300) version is known as the Comfort, while sitting above it in the range is the Ease, priced from 81,800 yuan, or around $11,400. The flagship version of the 42.8 kWh-equipped model is known as the Freedom, starting at 90,800 yuan or $12,600. The 53.9 kWh Smart version starts at 105,800 yuan or $14,700.

The updated MG4 has grown slightly in size compared to its predecessor. It now measures 4,395 mm (173.1 inches) in length, 1,842 mm (72.5 inches) in width, and 1,551 mm (61.1 inches) in height, with a wheelbase stretching to 2,750 mm (108.3 inches).

Better Looks, Better Cabin

Visually, the new MG4 adopts a far softer and more curvaceous design than the model it replaces. The cabin also looks impressively well-equipped and includes a 15.6-inch infotainment display, a small digital instrument cluster, a wireless phone charger, and a floating transmission tunnel. In typical EV fashion, it’s quite minimalist, but appears quite premium, particularly given the car’s price tag.

Elsewhere, the MG4 includes heated and ventilated front seats, a large panoramic glass roof with an electric sunshade, and rear seat backs that can recline up to 27 degrees. Synthetic leather is also found throughout, and there’s even a heated steering wheel.

While pre-sales of the new MG4 have just opened, MG hasn’t said when the first customer deliveries will begin. The timeline for international launches is not yet known, but we expect the small MG to arrive eventually in key markets like Europe and Australia.

As for dimensions, the sedan measures 197.5 inches (5,017 mm) long, 77.6 inches (1,970 mm) wide, and 56.2 inches (1,427 mm) tall, with a 118.4-inch (3,008 mm) wheelbase, meaning it has a similar footprint to the Tesla Model S.

According to Vconfigurator in Germany, the Transporter Flatbed DoKa is priced between €46,586⁠-56,648 ($53,200-64,700) for the diesel, and €62,128-66,316 ($70,900-75,700) for the EV. This Electric Six-Seater Is Bigger Than A Model X, As Efficient As A Model 3

No, this isn’t some kind of odd concept car aimed at previewing the future of mobility. Instead, it is the new i8 from Chinese automaker Li Auto, and it’s an all-electric SUV available from 321,800 yuan, or just under $45,000. We’re not sure how BMW will feel about the i8 badge being used on a vehicle like this, but Li Auto’s creation will no doubt leave legacy automakers scrambling to play catch-up.

Visually, the Li Auto i8 looks part-SUV and part-minivan. This is because it combines design elements and shapes from the existing L9 SUV, as well as the Mega, Li Auto’s flagship minivan. Like the Mega, the front of the i8 is highly unusual, featuring a full-width LED light bar running just under the windshield, rather than near the front bumper like most other new EVs hitting the Chinese market.

The flowing and smooth shape of the roof is also rather intriguing, while the rear is slightly more conventional. It comes complete with a light bar, a large tailgate, and, well, not much else of interest. According to Li Auto’s boss, the i8’s design was inspired by yachts, but we can’t really see the resemblance.

Entry-level versions have a 90.1 kWh NMC battery driving a pair of electric motors with 536 hp and 487 lb-ft (660 Nm) of torque. Li Auto says this version can travel up to 416 miles (670 km) on a charge, but that’s under the very generous CLTC cycle.

A larger 97.8 kWh NMC battery is available, boosting the range to 447 lb-ft (720 km). This version also offers extraordinarily high-speed charging that allows 310 miles (500 km) of range to be added in just 10 minutes. Aiding in the impressive range is a drag coefficient of just 0.218 Cd, lower than even the Tesla Model Y’s 0.220.

Li Auto says the i8 needs just 4.5 seconds to hit 100 km/h (60 mph). It also apparently consumes just 14.6 – 14.8 kWh/100 km, which is roughly in line with the much smaller Tesla Model 3.

As For The Cabin…

Like so many new Chinese cars, the interior is an absolute tech-fest. The i8 will be sold exclusively as a six-seater with a 2+2+2 layout. There’s no instrument cluster and instead, just a small screen sitting atop the center of the steering wheel and two huge 15.7-inch displays dominate the dashboard. Other nifty features include cooled wireless charging pads and the Li Auto Magic Carpet air suspension system, offering four adjustable ride heights.

The brand’s Li AD Pro assisted driving system comes as standard, while higher-end models get the Li AD Max system. Both systems include a LiDAR.

According to recent reports, the Ioniq 6 N is expected to start at around 77 million won in South Korea, the equivalent of around $55,000. Sounds just about perfect, right? Well, the Ioniq 5 N also sells for 77 million won in Korea, but its price has been jacked up to $67,800 in the United States. If this rumor is true, that means the Ioniq 6 N may also start at around $68,000 when it lands stateside.

Expectations Versus Reality

That would come as somewhat of a surprise, given that the entry-level Ioniq 6 is almost $5,000 cheaper than the base Ioniq 5 in the US. Some had assumed this meant the Ioniq 6 N would also undercut the Ioniq 5 N, which is slightly bigger. Additionally, as the Ioniq 6 N is Hyundai’s second high-performance EV using many of the same parts as the Ioniq 5 N, one would have thought the firm would have been able to bring its costs down.

A price tag of over $65,000 would make the Ioniq 6 N significantly more expensive than the Tesla Model 3 Performance, which starts at $54,990. Admittedly, the Ioniq 6 N has a healthy 131 hp advantage over the Tesla and is also equipped with far more driver-focused features, which should make it much more enjoyable to drive.

Interestingly, while the Hyundai has a big power advantage, the Tesla is slightly quicker off the mark, at least on paper, capable of hitting 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.1 seconds in Euro-spec, compared to the Hyundai’s 3.2 seconds.

Pricing aside, the Ioniq 6 N has the ingredients for an intoxicating EV. It features an 84 kWh battery pack and two electric motors, typically delivering 601 hp but capable of producing 641 hp with the N Grin Boost function enabled.

Besides having almost double the power of the standard Mokka Electric, the GSE features a unique chassis setup. The suspension has been lowered by 10 mm and includes dual hydraulic shock absorbers for better damping. The rear axle is stiffer, the steering has been retuned, and stopping power comes from Alcon brakes with 380 mm discs and four-piston calipers.

The Mokka GSE uses the same 54 kWh lithium-ion battery pack found in the regular Mokka Electric. However, due to the performance enhancements and extra hardware, the WLTP range is expected to fall short of the standard model’s 406 km (252 miles). Even so, the GSE keeps its weight under 1,600 kg (3,527 pounds), which is not bad for a fully electric crossover with this level of performance.

Fast charging at up to 50 kW DC allows the battery to go from 20 to 80 percent charge in about one hour. Isuzu backs the battery with an 8-year or 100,000-mile (160,900 km) warranty.

The fully electric truck rides on a modified version of the ladder frame chassis found in the regular Isuzu D-Max. However, the rear suspension features a De-Dion setup instead of leaf springs, contributing to a more refined ride.

Pricing And Availability

The global debut of the D-Max EV took place at the 2025 Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham on April 29. UK pre-sales began on July 21, with first deliveries expected in February 2026.

Subaru is stepping up its electric vehicle game in Europe, confirming plans to launch three new battery-electric crossovers by 2026. Developed in partnership with Toyota, the trio brings familiar hardware with Subaru’s own quirky styling choices, which have often sparked debate. The new models include the Uncharted, the facelifted Solterra, and the E-Outback, which is Europe’s version of the Trailseeker.

These additions will effectively triple Subaru’s EV lineup in the region, which until now has consisted solely of the Solterra. All three vehicles are built on the e-Subaru Global Platform, Subaru’s take on Toyota’s e-TNGA electric architecture.

The Subaru Uncharted

Leading the charge is the Uncharted, Subaru’s spin on the Toyota C-HR+. The crossover stands out with a Subaru-specific front end that borrows elements from the updated Solterra, including its headlight design and sculpted bumper. Rugged alloy wheels round out the exterior changes. Inside, the Uncharted gets a squared steering wheel and slightly different interior trims, while sharing features like the 14-inch infotainment display and dual wireless chargers with its Toyota twin.

Buyers can choose between front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations, both of which offer respectable performance. Power peaks at 338 hp (252 kW / 344 PS), and the entry-level variant uses a 57.7 kWh battery rated for 276 miles (444 km) of range. A larger 77 kWh option boosts range to 363 miles (584 km) for FWD models and 292 miles (470 km) with AWD.

The Solterra Returns, Sharper and Stronger

Moving on to a more familiar member of Subaru’s EV lineup, the Solterra is back with fresh styling, more tech, and upgraded underpinnings. The dual electric motors generate 338 hp (252 kW / 343 PS), representing a healthy increase of 123 hp (92 kW) compared to the original version that debuted in 2022. Furthermore, a larger 73.1 kWh battery pack delivers over 310 miles (500 km) of range between charges.

The styling updates are focused on the front end, with slimmer LEDs and a cleaner design for the bumper. The EU-spec Solterra was shown with glossy black fenders, so it is not clear if higher trim levels will feature the body-colored finish seen in the North American model. The EV also benefits from a new 14-inch infotainment display and improved ADAS.

Meet the E-Outback: Subaru’s Biggest EV Yet

Last but not least, the Subaru E-Outback is the European twin of the Subaru Trailseeker and the Toyota bZ Woodland. It is longer and more spacious than the Solterra, with a boot that is large enough for four suitcases. Subaru shared a single photo of the Trailseeker, so we guess that the E-Outback will look identical, minus the amber indicators.

Performance takes another step up here. The E-Outback is powered by a dual-motor setup producing 377 hp (280 kW / 380 PS), paired with a 74.7 kWh battery that delivers 279 miles (447 km) of range. Designed with adventure in mind, it includes Subaru’s Symmetrical AWD, X-Mode terrain management, and 210 mm (8.3 inches) of ground clearance. It also matches the Solterra’s towing capacity at 1,500 kg (3,307 pounds).

Rollout Timeline

The facelifted Subaru Solterra will be the first to reach European dealers by the end of 2025. The Uncharted and E-Outback will follow in early 2026. Subaru plans to announce pricing details closer to each model’s launch.

In an EV market overflowing with hype and hopeful startups, Faraday Future is still angling for the spotlight, even if it’s usually more about keeping the lights on than reinventing the wheel. The company may have only delivered 16 units of its FF 91 since 2023, but with fresh funding in hand and eyes still set on redefining mobility, it’s now turning attention to a new concept: a tech-laden minivan aimed at the mass market.

Backed by $105 million in newly secured funding, the electric vehicle startup has introduced the FX Super One, a minivan that leans heavily into AI integration and digital innovation.

The new model debuted during a special event at Faraday Future’s headquarters in California. It’s pitched as an “affordable mass market MPV,” designed to offer a roomy, thoughtfully constructed interior with premium materials and a wide array of advanced features.

Built on Chinese Bones

Instead of being a clean-sheet design, the FX Super One is actually based on the Wey Gaoshan minivan by the Chinese automaker Great Wall Motors. . Despite those shared underpinnings, the FX Super One comes with several Faraday-specific updates: a refreshed front-end design, black trim, 20-inch alloy wheels, and, perhaps most notably, a new AI-powered digital grille.

This grille houses what the company calls the Front AI Communication Ecosystem, or F.A.C.E., a system that goes beyond displaying emojis or motivational messages. When the vehicle is parked, F.A.C.E. can interact with passengers through voice recognition, visual cues, and even reactive communication, offering something akin to a conversational co-pilot. For those who prefer a more conventional look, a traditional grille will also be offered.

At the core of all this interactivity is Faraday Future’s proprietary EAI Embodied Intelligence AI Agent 6×4 Architecture. This system manages everything from the digital grille to infotainment controls, voice-command features, and the vehicle’s suite of advanced driver assistance systems.

Tech, Comfort, and Customization

Moving to the interior, the FX Super One will be offered in four-, six-, or seven-seat configurations across two or three rows. The four-seat version, called the GOAT Edition, adds several luxury upgrades, including a retractable panoramic display, Dolby Atmos sound system, and Faraday’s upgraded Super AP platform. Comfort gets particular attention here, with zero-gravity seating and leather-like materials designed for long-haul relaxation.

Under the surface, the minivan uses a high-strength steel frame that likely traces back to the Wey Gaoshan, though it’s been adapted to Faraday’s electric-first approach. Initially, the FX Super One will launch with a fully electric powertrain featuring dual electric motors and standard all-wheel drive. Later, it will be joined by what Faraday calls an “AI Hybrid Extended Range” variant, which appears to follow the extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) formula.

Gunning For The Escalade

The stretched version of its minivan twin from Great Wall measures 5,405 mm (212.8 inches) long, and has a wheelbase of 3,275 mm (128.9 inches). That puts it right against full-size SUVs including the Cadillac Escalade which was mentioned as a key rival, even though it has “less interior room, no sliding doors, and no AI integration”.

The target audience of the FX Super One includes celebrities and starts, visionaries and hard-working professional, but also regular family users. Among the user experience scenarios highlighted in the presentation is a star’s visit to a red carpet, a mobile livestream studio, a vehicle for elite athletes, a mobile AI office or private clubhouse, a golfer’s car, a mobile mansion, and a glamper’s car.

If everything goes according to plan, and that’s a big if, the FX Super One will roll out in early 2026. The model will be assembled at the Faraday Future plant in Hanford, California, allegedly using 50% locally-sourced parts. Faraday Future didn’t reveal pricing but is already accepting pre-orders for a refundable deposit of $100.

The FX Super One is not the only new model coming by Faraday Future. The company has announced the FX 4 which is believed to be an affordable Tesla Model Y competitor, the FX 5 large-space sporty AIEV, and the FX 6 large family vehicle.

As expected, it’s essentially Subaru’s take on the electric Toyota C-HR, with a design and feature set that leans more rugged than the Solterra, all in a more compact package.

The Uncharted rides on Toyota’s e-TNGA platform and is powered by a 74.7 kWh lithium-ion battery across all variants. Subaru has confirmed three versions for the American market: the Premium FWD, Sport, and GT. The base model is notable for being the first front-wheel drive vehicle Subaru has offered in years. In contrast, both the Sport and GT feature the company’s signature Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system with X-Mode.

A Front-Drive Subaru

The front-wheel drive model will pack 221 hp and, according to Subaru, should be able to travel over 300 miles (492 km) on a charge. Interestingly, the carmaker says it will only be sold in “limited quantities,” so it’s unlikely to be a member of the Uncharted family for long. Considering the EV’s rugged appeal, it’s likely that most buyers will prefer the all-wheel drive Sport and GT models anyway.

The AWD Models

The AWD Sport and GT models step things up with 338 horsepower and an estimated range of up to 290 miles (467 km). They can also reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in a remarkable 5.0 seconds, making them quicker than the previous WRX STI and the current WRX TR, which take 5.6 seconds to hit the same mark.

According to the brand, the Uncharted offers “impressive straight-line stability, handling, and grip on loose surfaces such as gravel, dirt, or snow.” Fittingly, it looks a little more trail-ready than the C-HR, sporting more rugged front and rear bumpers, as well as new headlights and taillights. Customers will be able to order the Uncharted with either 18- or 20-inch wheels. There are also low-profile roof rails.

Charging and Tech Details

All Uncharted models come standard with a NACS charging port. They support peak DC charging speeds of 150 kW, while an 11 kW onboard charger has been added for convenient AC home charging. Subaru notes that the EV also includes a battery preconditioning system and that the battery can be charged from 10-80 percent in 30 minutes.

A Familiar Cabin

The Uncharted’s interior is mostly the same as what you’ll find in the C-HR. That means there’s a large 14-inch infotainment screen, a digital gauge cluster, and a horrendously ugly steering wheel. Key standard features of the Sport include a heated steering wheel, water-repellent upholstery, and a panoramic view monitor. The GT adds a panoramic moonroof, ventilated front seats, a smart rearview mirror, and a Harman Kardon audio system.

Subaru has not announced pricing details for the Uncharted, but it’s reasonable to assume that the front-wheel drive model will start somewhere in the low-to-mid $30,000s.

It’s not quite official, but it’s close. We’ve known for a while that Tesla was working on a six-seater version of the Model Y, and now, thanks to China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), we’re getting our first official look.

Documents filed with the MIIT reveal a long-wheelbase version of the Model Y, dubbed the Model Y L, configured with three rows of seating. But it’s not just about added space. Based on the filings and industry reports, this version brings more power along with the stretched cabin, signaling a meaningful update to the existing lineup. It’s expected to launch in China this fall, with a North American debut potentially following soon after.

A Six-Seat Layout With Extra Room

First and foremost, let’s break down the details. This new Model Y L features six seats, not seven, so expect it to roll out with captain’s chairs in the second row. It’s 4,976mm long or 186mm (7.3 inches) longer than the normal Model Y. It’s also 44mm (1.7 inches) taller. The extra length isn’t just an extended body like we’ve seen in vehicles such as the Ford Expedition Max.

Instead, Tesla extended the wheelbase to 3,040mm, or 150mm (5.9 inches) longer than the five-seat Model Y. In addition to the added length, the new Y L gets unique wheels, an updated spoiler, new seats, and appears as though it’ll be available with a new gold paint color.

The official documents also reveal that it’ll make more power too. The five-seat Model Y makes 443 horsepower (331 kW), but the Model Y L will arrive with 455 ponies (340 kW). That should help with the additional weight on board. Notably, Tesla has hinted in the past that a seven-passenger version of the Model Y is coming.

Based on the MIIT filing, this isn’t that version. Still, it wouldn’t take much, adding a bench seat or tweaking the current layout could easily accommodate seven passengers. What remains unclear is whether the new seven-seater will follow the previous generation’s approach, using the standard wheelbase with two tightly squeezed seats in the rear, or if Tesla plans to do something different this time around.

The email Tesla sent to U.S. owners in June wasn’t the only hint at a North American launch for the Model Y L. Leaks from internal code point to it being a global model. With the debut of the Model Y L, that update now appears to be just around the corner.

Still, for those drawn to heritage and design, there’s now a limited-edition R5 that leans into nostalgia with purpose.

The Renault 5 Monte Carlo Edition is the result of a collaboration between Dutch dealer Zeeuw & Zeeuw and coachbuilding and design specialist Re-Volve. Only 25 units will be built, all for the Netherlands market. Billed as a tribute to Renault’s motorsport legacy, the special edition wears its influences proudly.

This electric R5 is finished in Midnight Blue with a contrasting black roof, a color combination already seen in Renault’s standard configurator. What sets the Monte Carlo Edition apart is a distinctive gold livery that runs across the grille, sides, and rear hatch, echoing the gold accents of its ’90s ancestor. It rides on bespoke 19-inch gold alloy wheels, adding a stronger visual link to its rally-inspired roots.

Inside, the special R5 gets black leather and Alcantara upholstery with gold stitching, alongside a commemorative plaque on the center console. The stunning spec certainly makes the R5 more desirable, adding sporty and premium tones. However, the Monte Carlo Edition doesn’t feature any upgrades under the skin. Surprisingly, it is not even based on the more potent version of the R5 with 148 hp (110 kW / 150 PS) that would closely match the 145 hp (108 kW / 147 PS) of the naturally-aspirated 2.0-liter engine found in the original Clio Williams.

Instead, it uses the 121 hp (90 kW) electric motor paired with a 40 kWh battery, offering up to 309 km (192 miles) of WLTP range. Renault says this setup allows for a 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) time of 9 seconds, with a top speed of 150 km/h (93 mph). Performance like this doesn’t live up to the legacy of the Williams badge.

For those willing to trade performance for exclusivity and nostalgic flair, the Renault 5 Monte Carlo Edition is priced at €37,995 ($44,400). That’s about €8,000 ($9,400) more than the standard R5 E-Tech Urban Range Techno trim it’s based on, which starts at €29,990 ($35,000) in the Dutch market. Availability is limited to Zeeuw & Zeeuw’s network in the Netherlands.
